In nature birds get their showers mainly from rain. So they instinctively do this posture where they want rain to fall under their wings. This is the area where most parasites hide. So it is an instinctive behavior to use the rain opportunity to get rid of parasites.

4:05 Aw, poor Toulouse thinks, "Now's my chance to have a turn in the bath," so the grey pigeon (Silk?) hurries back to claim the bath! That's mean, you already had your turn!
