Sponsored by Abacus bathrooms, the third episode of our bathroom renovation series in association with Abacus bathrooms. Over the course of this video series, we will show you how to renovate a bathroom from start to finish.
The shower tray (or shower former) sits inside the existing floor which means cutting into a very old structure and peering into the past. This part can be tricky, but Roger has done this many times and will give you the benefit of his experience.

Very much enjoying this series of vids. After achieving my level 2 plumbing qualification in 2015 I've specialised in bathroom installations and I'm always looking for great sources of knowledge and expertise on the best approach to installations and perhaps pick up a few hints and tips. Looking forward to part #4! 👍

For some one so particular I was surprised to see what looks like speedfit fittings on copper, especially under the floor!
@amateurvegan2636
@amateurvegan2636 5 жыл бұрын
Trade Tested Mark I'm aware push fit company's state you can use their fittings on copper. however using them on a floor that will be covered and tiled to me is a bit iffy. I admit I have used them in this application before but not without good reason, I don't think you'd dispute that out of compression, crimp, solder and push fit that the latter is the least durable seal and also has a shelf life? Which is why it surprised me to see Rodger using them when in this same video he stated he didn't like using flexi wastes and he generally seems to do things to last. I will say Rodger is far more knowledgeable about plumbing then me so maybe he knows something I don't...

Roger, please can you put something straight here. Can you use normal solvent cement to connect ABS to PVC? Everywhere i read says i can't. It looks like that's what you did. If not, what is the best way to connect an ABS Wedi waste to existing PVC waste? Cheers and thanks for the videos. Jon.
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 5 жыл бұрын
Change Name Yes PVC and ABS are both good for solvent weld. It is only polypropylene that can't be stuck. You may find tiny size differences between different makes of ABS and PVC if so use a gap fill solvent cement

The trap can be turned to any direction. If you solvent weld it then it is not possible. Plus it could get damage.
