People are commenting on Jim Carey’s performance, but I don’t think they are giving enough credit to the set design, lighting, cinematography, and music. This feels like the climax of a superhero, this feels like a superhero confronting the big villain, this feels like a classic superhero scene.

Jim Carrey's over-the-top acting helped this film a lot. In the lab scene I can see Val Kilmer smiling at Carrey's insanity, as Bruce Wayne says no to the Joker's research. Kilmer was probably sick of Carrey going off script.

Think of that story of how Greyson was telling a story about him saving his brother, and his father calling him a Robin. In this case Bruce comes swooping in like a bat to save Robin. Robin trusts Batman to catch him he lets his arms go out to get his hands. I feel this scenes cements both teamwork and brotherhood between Bruce and Greyson. I think that particular line was only featured in the trailers, and was edited out at the last minute prior to its theatrical release. The same thing happened to Two Face's infamously missing piece of dialogue, "If the Bat wants to play, we'll play"; which was supposed to be said during the helicopter scene in the beginning of the movie, and ended up on the cutting room floor during its final edit, but after the preview itself was already being shown.

Can't speak about the rest, but I agree about his voice. It definitely is the best Live Action voice we've had. Let's hope "The Batman" by Matt Reeves will feature an actor that can pull off the Kevin Conroy-esque voice along with the typical Batman looks. I get the idea behind the voice changer and raspy voice in the DCEU and TDK but it just doesn't come close to Kevin Conroy's Batman.

I mean, yeah, it's pretty jarring to see such a campy and over-the-top movie under the Batman brand, but once you get past that, it's actually really enjoyable. Besides, can we also just take a moment to praise the movie's writers for - in the process of coming up with their version of The Riddler - essentially predicting Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, and Big Data as a whole more or less 20 yrs before it happened?

The way Batman blindsides the Riddler with both his own riddle AND that surprise Batarang is genius. By mentioning he had a riddle for the Riddler, Batman was able to buy time for both Dr. Chase and Robin, as well as set up his means to destroy the "Brain Wave Collector". The trick with his visor made Riddler believe the Batarang was meant for him, when it went for the machine. To top it all off, Batman managed to save BOTH hostages, thwarting Riddler's death trap.

For people saying Jim Carrey was playing the role as if it were the Joker: The Riddler and the Joker have completely different motivations. The Riddler's main aim is to show off to everyone just how smart he is - or how smart he THINKS he is - which also means that this is all a desperate and over-the-top cry for attention. Frank Gorshin nailed all of that in the '60s, and Jim Carrey did a good job of it here.

This movie had so much potential. Bruce’s struggle to be both Batman and Bruce Wayne is represented with both villains here. Harvey is also struggling with Duel personalities could’ve tied with him so well, and riddlers part was that in order to beat his mind and his schemes that he needed to be at peace with himself. Of one mind. They made it too goofy but it’s still fun to watch.

Jim Carey's goofiness was alright. I think this scene does a really good job of showing how Batman's other villains besides the Joker are insane. With all the iterations of his villains being sympathetic and many of them being quite lucid, it's easy more to grow up associating Arkham Asylum as being synonymous with "prison" instead of a place for actual insane people. Yes, Riddler, it was over the top, but the fact that it was over the top with the menacing undertone and an actual threat that could happen in real life makes the Riddler look insane and not just obsessive or autistic.

That's technically what happened. The "chandelier" held all the collective neural energy Riddler gathered through his box device and absorbed in his head to gain further intelligence, wit and cleverness. Needless to say, when Batman destroyed the source of Riddler's amplified smarts, he shattered Riddler's "mind".

This movie holds a special place in my heart. I really like Kilmer as Batmane. This is one of the films I'd like to see remade. A Dark Knight version of this film would be mind blowing.

What I don’t get at all is how Batman was able to save both Dr. Meridian and Robin simultaneously...when the shot just after the panels slide open, shows two distinctly separate shafts. Just after the Riddler opens their chambers, the next shot shows Batman diving into one. How does that double rescue work? 🤔 I’m super confused here...🤔

And in the end, he died in that grave. In a way that made me CRY. All The Penguin wanted was to live a normal life, no matter how different he was from other human beings. Instead, he was raised by Emperor Penguins, framed AND tried to kill Batman, betrayed Catwoman and nearly killed her, and then died while bile was dripping out of his mouth IN FRONT OF BRUCE WAYNE’S VERY EYES. Keep in mind, Danny DeVito got a GOLDEN GLOBE for his role in Batman Returns.
