This movie gets hated on but as a kid growing up in the 90's I thought it was the best movie ever. Because of that it has sentimental value. I'm sure other 90's kids feel the same way.

It annoys me when people think superhero’s aren’t supposed to be silly when batman has a supervillain called the riddler and the penguin like I understand that once in a while you can have a serious superhero movie (dark knight) but most of the time you can’t take it seriously because they’re in spandex suits with logos walking around in capes that somehow don’t get in the way

I used to enjoy it as a kid but it doesn’t age well. So I’m sure some 90’s kids feel the same way but I’m not one of them. I still prefer the Keaton-Burton Batman films and the Bale-Nolan trilogy

no....they were just mostly portrayed as goofy, not really as a joker-like character. yes, joker is goofy, but he can be dark. also the original Riddler (60s) had a lot of energy. also two-face probably is goofy because comics tend to be kind of goofy sometimes, y'know? that's what joel wanted to do for the movie. and that's what he did. i mean, all the villains can be dark, we can see that in the batman and the nolanverse films, but a lot of the concepts were originally kind of just silly. but people slowly started to make their own interpretations of the batman universe and they got to experiment with the backstories and etc.

I CAME HERE TO SAY that 3:43 is actually realistic. I _literally just learned about_ thermal blankets and this technique that Firefighters use if a forest fire surprises them and traps them. they can "baked potato" up and the blanket reflects the heat well-enough that it can actually work. I watched this movie 20 years ago as a kid and i never realized this was actually possible. TIL. edit: okay he does push some sort of button, so idk what that part of his magic blanket does, but the _idea_ is grounded in reality. very cool

mrrandom45 He wanted to make a darker movie based on one of Frank Miller’s graphic novels but WB said no because Batman Returns was “too dark” for parents at the time. WB wanted family friendly Batman movie, and when Batman Forever made more money than the two previous films, they went further and made B&R kid friendly with toy manufacturers designing sets and vehicles, even making script changes. Schumacher pitched a darker film one more time but WB blamed him for B&R failure (it was WB’s fault) and had enough of him.

maggit Rumor is that Schumaker wanted to use the Joker as the main baddy, but Burton nixed that idea because it was too unrealistic. Especially givem how he died in the first movie. Burton suggested Two Face as a villain, but Schumaker didn't like how dark and gritty the villain was, and neither did WB studios. A compromise was initially reached between all three parties in which Two Face would be used, but his dark, brooding nature would be undertoned drastically with occasional slapstick humor. At some point, Schumaker and WB studios went behind Burton's back and rewrote the character entirely, resulting in what you see here - a total debauchery. It didn't help either that Jones let his disdain for Carrey take over to such a degree that he spent most of the movie trying to "out act" and out do him.
@trueblue6201
@trueblue6201 5 жыл бұрын
@@alexmoxley8124 actually Schumaker was originally interested in doing more darker stuff. However the studio balked and wanted something lighter. Thus stuff like the original opening scene of twoface escaping arkham which had a darker tone despite no deaths was cut by the studio. Schumaker was actually interested in doing a batman year one film which was dismissed. In fact if he hadn't killed the series with batman and robin he had wanted to do a darker batman triumphant which would have involved scarecrow and joker's daughter.

Being objective, the film is like a joke that is sometimes funny. But it has a very ugly aesthetic, fake and artificially lit, plus shots made entirely by cgi, and it's not even good cgi. And Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face is a pretty bad character. Not because his acting is bad, but because the character is written as a bad copy of the joker. 3:54 Sometimes very literally.
@goodtogo1405

@@mr.noseybonk3440 However the original from 89 also had some poor cgi, if you can even call it that, but still, it did the trick. Moreover, the comic books and cartoons weren't as dark either and therefore I don't consider it all a joke, yet most definitely a highly underrated film. It has some very clever writing as well if you pay close enough attention and don't let the funny stuff distract you.

Kidman's had surgery for her entire career since the 80s. That's why she doesn't look weird today; she did it right. You don't do surgery when you're already old, you do it gradually, starting at age 25 if you have the money/willingness. Not a way to live, but damn. It's an investment that'll get you looking 20 years younger when you're 60, and not look like you had surgery.

Batman Forever very unfairly gets meshed together with Batman and Robin in people's memories. But this movie was a great Batman film in it's own right especially for the time. By now we've had artistic masterpieces like Dark Knight and The Batman with grounded, more complex interpretations of the character which makes this run of films feel super campy and outdated. But you have to remember, back in 1995 this movie was a HUGE success and was well loved by majority of people and saved the characters cinematic relevance after the mild and disappointing box office results of Batman Returns (For obvious reasons, though I enjoy that movie too) when Hollywood almost gave up on the character completely. Say what you will about whatever flaws this movie has, the sheer spectacle and magic of it all is still very entertaining and is what movie going experiences used to be made up of. I will never forget the year 0f 1995 and how excited I was to see this movie in theaters back when I was a child and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Love this movie!

84 kid here. From all the Batman films I have seen in my life. I must say Returns is the best. The Nolan trilogy was superb but nothing beats Burton's take on Batman. As a kid I just loved them and yes part of my love is because they are part of my childhood but in all honesty... Not too much CGI, great acting, directing, script and a lot of effort made those first two films the best of the bunch. For me they where also a great homage to the comics. Forever was the first film I saw in cinema and I remember being dissapointed that there was no Joker, Catwoman or Keaton coming back. For kids this one was still great fun and oh boy, Seal's Kiss From A Rose must be the best Batman soundtrack of all time. From what I have heard there is a much darker cut, but Warner Bros at the time was not pleased with the dark tone of retunrs. They ironically killed the franchise going down this route. However Forever is a true 90's classic and still great fun. Batman & Robin was awfull. Even me, a big fan could not defend that turd of a movie. Miss the 90's.

Jones was reluctant to take the role of Two-Face, but his son convinced him to do it otherwise he wouldn't work with Jim Carey.

Brandon Spain I don’t think he would have because Burton used him as bait to get Jack Nicholson to play the Joker in the original Batman so even if Burton did direct this one, Williams wouldn’t have accepted.

@@chrispeplinski7306 as far as big list actors go, Robin Williams was at least imo always a great pick for the riddler. Watch 1 Hour Photo or Insomnia. Actually World's Greatest Dad I thought displayed what would have made him a perfect riddler. A middle/older aged white man that's quirky/quick witted/clever with an unhealthy hero worship of Bruce Wayne gets fired and snaps. I never really like Williams much, but I always thought he would have been perfect as The Riddler, especially if it would have been a Nolan Batman.

You know, looking back this was one of the better choreographed fight scenes of most of the live action batman movies. Warehouse scene from BvS excluded.
