The umpire should be required to make the ejection motion, in the form of a wound up point, targeted no higher than the top of the stands. The player, coach, or manager could then jump in front of that point -- with arms crossed in a sort of X shape -- to block the ejection and receive immunity.

If the umpires raised hand/arm is blocked, it should result in the umpire receiving one free kick to the nuts of the offending coach or player. Then the medical staff would determine if that coach / player was able to continue. LOL

If football players can run down the field, call a play, communicate it to 11 guys on the field, and then analyze the defense full of ultra jacked guys about to bull rush you and still get it off in less than 40 seconds then I think baseball players can stand there and be ready for a pitch in 20.

As for the catcher ejection, I’ll bet anything he was still talking after turned back around. The first thing I was taught about talking to the umpire (as a catcher) was to keep the mask on and NEVER turn around. You’d be surprised at the what you can say when nobody but the batter can tell you’re talking to the ump…

As a former amateur umpire I can say that nothing drove me up a wall like batters who took forever between pitches. Pretty much every rec league in baseball and fast\slow pitch softball had time limits on the games so that they could fit in a double header on school nights. When you have just 2 hours to get a baseball game in you want to make sure, if at all possible, that you get into the 7th inning because the rule was if the inning starts we can complete it.

10 secs to get his feet back in the box (give or take a second or two) isn’t egregious, and he didn’t grant the batter time while he was in the box so I feel like the clock should stop as soon as he’s got his feet in? No. Wrong. This does not have to happen more often. I AGREE with you about the batter stepping out. BUT, we shouldn't be giving the player an out, and ejecting managers and players hastily because that impacts the game. Stepping out is annoying, it's boring to watch but it doesn't change the entire outcome like an ejection and an out or walk does.

Having just attended a Dirtbag game @ Blair field last nite, (5-3-22) vs UCLA, , one of the first things I noticed was the 20 sec timer. At first I thought it was the pitch speed, but quickly put it together. To speed up the game & keep the pitcher& batter honest, (much like the basketball time center court time rule). It has been awhile since I'd seen a live ⚾️game.

Which ball doesn't lie? Always been up for debate. Was the home run ball correcting the lie of the one thrown to get the first batter out? I always associated that with the NYC courts.
