How is it? Battery life is usable?

@@gamingvariation1323 Battery life is a little more complicated. First of all, I would recommend having no startup apps, as that will greatly boost battery life. While just running chrome(for google google docs and web browsing), I am able to get around 7 hours of battery at 50% brightness top display and 100% brightness bottom display. When using more apps, such as music services and background apps, I can get 5-6 hours with 50% brightness top display and 100% brightness bottom display. Running intense games with the mx450 drops the battery life to around 1.5 hours, so I would not recommend it unless you are plugged in. It does run games very well though. When you turn off the 2nd display and only run the first. The battery life increases by around 2 hours in each situation(except gaming). Btw, I prefer 50% brightness, and am not just using it to save battery life.

Hi Sky. I am looking to switch laptop. Can you help please guide if you can? I mostly use vscode(s) and chrome.. do you find a 14inch screen enough? Even if I get a monitor, I am often working away from home for a week or 2. Will 14in be fine or should I strictly look for 15/16inch screens? Even for processers.... P or H? 12th or 13th gen i7? (to fit into 1000-1200 usd budget) Sorry for the long comment, I am the one who suggests phones and laptops in the family but now can't decide for myself so I feel very lost.

Hi @narutokunn so nice to hear from you again. Both P and H are both capable CPUs so either one should be fine for what you do, ignore comparing this so you have less to compare. If you are developing code on visual studio, better to get 15/16 inch screens and higher resolution. When I read coding and data files on screen, I always connect my Asus Zenbook duo 14 to external monitors. Having said that, I don't like 15/16 inch laptops because they are huge to carry around. If you ask me to recommend one and only one laptop, I would recommend www.asus.com/laptops/for-creators/zenbook/zenbook-pro-14-oled-ux6404/ It's 14.5 inches so right in the middle of 14 and 15 inches. 2880x1800 should be tall enough for coding too. And if budget is not an issue for you get this: www.asus.com/laptops/for-creators/zenbook/zenbook-pro-14-duo-oled-ux8402/ So you have 2880x1800 plus half of second screen. This is a beautiful machine. And then some time down the track, add a Samsung 12" or 15" tablet as your second screen. @@SkyPerspective hey ... truly thankful for such detailed information, you are awesome. I will be disregarding the P/H difference then as you say. I really lke the pro 14 oled but it isn't available here. I will look for it in the offline market. The duo however, is almost twice the budget so maybe, next time :) Your comment comes at perfect time since year's biggest sale just started very soon here in India. Will keep all your recommendation in mind, thankyou so much.

How has the mat finish on the screen held up? Is it worth getting a screen protector?

Holding up very well. It's not damaged or scratched in anyway, just full of fingerprints and once I clean it, it's as good as new.

@SkyPerspective has the mat finish worn off and become more glossy, or does it still have the somewhat paperlike texture?

@anub3207 nothing has worn off. The texture still feels the same to me, and this is constant throughout the whole screen. I didn't know matte screen has a layer of coating. Isn't it naturally made that way?

Hlooo brother Is it valuable in 2023? How is the battery life,is there any heating issue,or the sound of the fan? I generally need it for trading also if it is possible to play games on it?

Got to mx450 version recently. It is still a solid laptop today. The slight issue is the i7 isn't the fastest, especially compared to a processor like the 1360p. Battery life is about 8 hours on low power mode. Its good for less demanding games like csgo but not much else. If you want a stronger performer but are willing to sacrifice battery, the duo pro 14 has a 4060. That laptop only gets about 3 hours of battery life thought

@@anub3207 I just love the dual screen 🙂 I saw reviews of others they say it has a heating issue + battery is not that good etc etc

@@ss-fd2xk in terms of Heating, it does get hot under strain. Normal use such as web browsing, listening to music, and watching media will keep it almost silent, but it does get somewhat loud under heavy use. I have had it for 2 days now, so I can't say much. My settings are whisper mode with 50% brightness on both screens, as that is what I like best, not just to preserve battery. For me it has not had any battery issues unless I am straining the device with a game like cs2. I would not worry about the battery. Something I would like to mention however, is that it charges really slowly. If you charge it at night, it will last a full day, but it will be hard to quickly charge the device to full, or even get a extra 20%. Something nice about this laptop that people Don talk about is the fact that even with a mx450, it can run at full load without needing a charger for extra power. Also the displays are very sharp and beautiful despite only being 1080p.
