6 жыл бұрынMy LIVE REACTION to the Battle for Lordaeron Cinematics that released during the Battle for Lordaeron scenario - where the Alliance attacks Undercity after a devastating loss. My reaction includes the Alliance and Horde cinematics - including the Jaina Cinematic reveal! These contain the story for Battle for Azeroth and some of the main characters ahead of the August 14th Release Date. This was taken from my livestream on the DAY it was released.
The attack by the Horde on Teldrassil was not taken lightly by the Alliance - and as quickly as possible, Anduin - the Boy King - has taken the Alliance to the doorstep of the Forsaken. Today, the Alliance will reclaim Lordaeron...but not if Sylvanas has anything to do with it. Oh and hey - the Alliance has Jaina backing them up and she is INSANELY powerful!

Btw. After watching this so many times, I love the parallel between Anduin and Arthas shown in the alliance end cinematic where Anduin is walking down the same hall where Arthas did except instead of celebration, it's damaged and battered. Anduin looks up at the sky in the same spot where Arthas did back in WC3. Just beautiful

THE SIMILARITIES ARE INSANE BETWEEN PRE-FROSTMOURNE ARTHAS AND MANDUIN, THEY'RE BOTH PALADIN PRINCES, BOTH LOVE THEIR PEOPLE ENOUGH TO SACRIFICE THEMSELVES FOR THEM, AND THEN THEIR MANNERISMS AND HOW THE WALK ARE ALL THE SAME

Fred Wolfstar-Lenhart i thought so too but I think Nathanos just shot the kegs of blight with her bow whenever she did her banshee scream. That was the signal for him to shoot the kegs

Your idea was actually spot on. She was testing Anduin all along and wanted to make him stronger. She needs him in order to achieve her goals. Even now in Shadowlands, she could easily break his will and turn him into her slave, but again, she offered him a choice and tried to convince him.

Do you think the reason Anduin muzzled Genn with that "enough" shout was because Genn called Sylvanas filth(y), referring to what she is, an undead, as he had done countless times before? Anduin has this recent experience in understanding what the forsaken are and not discriminating, something that Genn was involved in. To me Anduin is just tired of Genn losing his temper and insulting the forsaken for what they are. That "enough" says it all in my book... And I think it's the first time Anduin actually shouts like that, he definitely sounded like Varian. Or, to take this in a simpler manner, the shout was just intended to end the squabbling :p

Also Sylvanas wants to provoke him into proving she is more in control than the worgen. An angry beast is easier to kill than a smart beast. And greymane is pretty much angry all the time around her.

That's the exact reason. Anduin does see the Forsaken as "People" unlike most of the living races. But he does believe that Sylvanas has no salvation, and that the Forsaken are just under a cruel ruleship.

Anyone else notice at the start of the cinematic how closely it resembles Arthas' betrayal cinematic in Warcraft 3? The music kicks in almost instantly with the exact same two camera angles it follows in the Warcraft 3 one? Pretty nice nod to Arthas as Anduin resembles Arthas pretty close :) Even the door open is the same!

To me, that smirk of Sylvanas means "So I guess this isn't over yet. I'm looking forward to the next round." Which would make sense in both scenes, the BfA trailer, and this one.

Maybe Sylvanas has a weird boy crush on Anduin. She did have the "I'm liking what I'm seeing" look/smirk after Anduin's mass ress/heal in the BFA cinematic. 🤔 Good theory tho it does seem far fetched at this point in time. I'm eager to see how the story plays out. As much as I'm happy that Sylvanas turned out to be a cray burn-it-all evil lady (as I've been touting since she ravaged my home and killed my Prince), I'm still hoping there's more to it than meets the eye. It'd be a boring ending otherwise. On the other hand, I'm super duper happy that Jaina turned out to be super duper badass. The continuation from the Warbringer clip with her father's ship is just epic!

Glad to see someone love Jaina as much as I do. I've been looking forward to a story focus on her and Anduin ever since MoP. So I'm really enjoying all of it right now! As for the theory about the Sylvanas smirks: I would really love that, but honestly, I just think there's only one reason for it: It makes her look cool. You know, the arrogant smile of every villain ever, whenever they feel superior or after they've done something bad. It's most likely just that, in both the BfA cinematic as well as in the end here.

She’s definitely aggressive, and she definitely believes in having power and control, but I also think that she does take seriously the representation of the Horde. She has a different perspective which is that the Horde will never be safe until the Alliance is wiped out. But, is she acting in a cruel, mustache-twirling evil way? Not really, she’s just trying to defend her people." -Blizzard Game Senior Producer. I MEAN ITS RIGHT THERE PEOPLE...Sylvanas is NOT unnecessarily "evil". Only enough to get things done. She is for the survival of the horde.. And for a horde player that is the only line she should not cross. "All is fair in love and war".

In more ways than one. Garrosh gave into hero worship; all that he did was to prove that he was a hero of the Horde. Everything became a deed of greatness under Garrosh. But Sylvanas doesn't care about any of that. She has integrated some of Garrosh' traits, but she's also learned from him. Honor is actually bad for the Horde. Thrall literally handicapped Orgrimmar deliberately, because Thrall wanted to teach orcs how to work to achieve greatness. Orgrimmar has become an import hub for this reason; it is dependent on import. And therefore, it is dependent on good relations with the surrounding area. But what if good relations stop? Like with the night elves? What if the Alliance attempt to siege Orgrimmar? Then Orgrimmar is compromised. It is too hard to defend and it's not able to function without imports. Sylvanas knows all this and rather than seeing this as a reason to be cautious, she sees this as a reason to be ahead of the curve of everyone else. In the novels, it is clear that she actually has come to appreciate what honor is. She appreciates great warriors, even Saurfang, even Thrall. But she also knows that honor and hero worship and martyrdom have crippled the Horde. And not that Azerite is here, war is inevitable. Greymane will eventually come for the Undercity. If Greymane comes for the Undercity, the orcs, tauren and blood elves would have to defend the Undercity. Which would mean that Silvermoon is compromised or that the night elves can attempt to assault Darnassus. The moment that the Horde is reactive, is the moment that the Horde has lost. So Sylvanas has to stay ahead at any moment. When Saurfang fails to kill Malfurion, Darnassus is lost. Sylvanas wanted to maintain honor. She gave Saurfang explicit orders to protect the honor of the Horde and take Teldrassil honorably, so that war could be ended before it could begin. Saurfang failed her in that, which means that, now, the Horde has to play by Sylvanas terms. Now, it's no holds bar war. The Horde has to win or it will be destroyed. It's delicious. Sylvanas gives characters choices every step of the way and each time, they find themselves having to choose the utilitarian option and follow Sylvanas' cold, calculated logic (fueled by Azerite). But it also shows that sometimes that doesn't work in Sylvanas' favor, or the Horde's favor and sometimes, it doesn't go as Sylvanas might have originally wanted. Saurfang chooses to stay behind and die with honor. Sylvanas chose to give Saurfang that choice and Saurfang chose to die. It's delicious and brilliant and I love it.

Sylvanas gets amusement from the anger, sorrow, reactions of others. You see this with Summermoon in Darkshore and a few times with Anduin. Sylvanas likes when they fight back, keep trying ... makes breaking them all the sweeter. Sylvanas has more in common with Arthas than she wants to admit. When she does, we may see a redemption/sacrifice arch ... and her becoming a tragic savior.

I agree with your theory, just remember what Sylvanas says in the 2017 BfA intro: “...and we forget what makes strong”. This “unnecesary” War is just a warm up for the next expantion... the old gods-void Lords.

You are like the only Ally "Reactor" who isn't: "Fucking Sylvanas is evil put here down", she has so much depth, she's not one dimentional villian as many want to believe and that's why it's very exciting right now after 14 yrs of loyalty to her to see her being so damn cool and strategically deceptive. Brings a of joy into my as a strategic thinker eye:D Let's see how badass Sylvanas will be in later storyline. For the Banshee Queen!!!

At the very least you can't really say the story is bad when we don't know more than the prologue yet. I'm really hoping they don't make her a real villain. I'm hoping she does something redeeming, then ste0s down as w archief once her plan is done.

Sylvanas is playing Anduin. The Alliance suffered heavy losses at both Tel and Undercity compared to the Horde. She's playing on them being vengeful and hateful because those are two states of being she knows well and can capitalize off of.

One thing I haven't seen people mention. In the Horde version, Anduin's sword has red blood, in the Alliance version it's black blood. I think that's sort of a "we have different perspectives on what he is killing" thing.

I always knew she was a frost mage, had I known of her back story in Kul Tiras, it would have made much more sense that she is also a water mage, Jaina is back with a vengeance, love that ship and those arcane cannons are totally awesome.

If you fly back to Lordaeron as a holy priest, and suicide in the fog of poison, your passive Spirit of Redemption can be killed repeatedly, thus you will never die unless you cancel the buff on your own. Plus, if you have the revive debuff from the graveyard, you suffer much less damage in the poison which can be easily healed up. Then you will find the elevators are blocked.

Siege of Orgrimar 2.0 here we come! IT IS ON!!! FOR THE ALLIANCE! Edit: I agree with your theory. If you recall during the scenario, the part called 'Blast', if she wanted to kill Anduin she had him dead in her sights and could have easily shot him with a black arrow, but instead shoots a blight wagon. I really can't wait for next week to see how all of this starts to unfold. I still think she's evil as f**k, but it's obvious she's got alot of plans...especially for Anduin.

Jaina upgraded her Arcane Missiles to Daughter of the Sea OP version .... Beware, Beware indeed. Also the w3 parallels hit the nostalgia feels .... also the VA were superb ..... Anduin had such a resemblance to Varian when he shouted out .. The line when he says she lead the Horde to a place without honor is very interesting as it mirrors Varians promise to the Horde at the end of Ogrimmar ... If your Horde fails to uphold honor as Garosh did we will end you ....

It´s an interesting idea. In fact she said in the cinematic trailer of BFA "... Alliances forged and broken, we have paid the price for sharing this world...and we have forgotten what makes us strong..." perhaps she doesn´t refer to the Horde...but to the alliance between the two factions, what makes Azeroth strong.... and for that she need to transform Anduin into a "Warrior King".

I thought up to your theory it was Sylvanas even with influence or info from Bolvar of threat to come with Void Lords and old gods. Perhaps given Bolvar's history with Varian and Andiun, they (Syl and Bol) are building Horde and Alliance for that war. That would make all this morally grey and very interesting.

It just occurred to me, people tend to see Sylvannas' tactics are devious and honor-less (they are, but they are effective), and tend to blame her being an evil undead for it. But when she was guarding the Sunwell from Arthas her main repertoire was inflicting massive casualties to the enemies armies with traps while giving ground to wear them out.

*If* Sylvannas is training Anduin to become stronger, it's not for the reason you're thinking. Not to make the Alliance stronger, but to make the figurehead of the faction seem powerful enough that the rest of his people can lean on him for support. Break that support and everything that it supported will fall.

I think it was more of an arrogant smile than anything else. She knows that even if she lost Lordaeron, she still won the battle by blighting it, and seeing the Alliance getting frustrated gave her satisfaction.

I'm 100% Horde but that Jaina... damn ! I don't know about Sylvanas, but I'm pretty sure she is the key of the extension. Remember the cinematic trailer, her words at the opening "We forgotten what makes us strong". War, it's war that always make us strong. I don't know what she knows, but something terrible is coming, maybe even worst that the cataclysm... I can't wait for the Azshara short !

I don't think Sylvanas is really prepping him, but I do think that this is the old god expansion, and will be revealed in 8.1, at Blizzcon. And I think since Anduin is essentially pure light, Sylvanas will somehow do a self sacrifice to save Anduin, so he can lead the forces of Azeroth against the old gods. That way Blizzard can say she's redeemed.

In my point of view Sylvanas knows Queen Azshara, N'zoth and many more Evil things tip Void are coming, i think she's preparing Both Factions for another War. Don forget Vol'jin choosed Sylvanas for Warchief and he said "Many will not Understand also he said Sylvanas could be the one who will save us" ;)

This scene makes me think hard of your theory and the previous scene where sylvanas remember her past while she burns down teldrassil, she could be potentially preparing the young king Anduin, making him not to follow his human predecessor footsteps like arthas did during Warcraft 3. Currently there's no other villains that could be alliance threat than horde, so this could be an interesting way to make Anduin a better leader of alliance.

Sylvannas is seemingly like Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades. Though the Alliance need to rid of her, I think that there is so much more in play here - and I think that she will play a significant role to it. She is just so paradoxical that she both confirms and denies all theories about her and what she is doing.

I can't see her consciously trying to strengthen the factions, but I can see her having a role in saving them down the line in some way. Maybe she will have to do something terrible for it, and we will have to learn that our survival is truly the most important thing, no matter the costs. It would actually give her some depth.

It's not "I'm proud of you" it's more of her playing the long game. She has the best interest of the horde and the forsaken at heart. In the three sisters comic the void whispers desperately, asking for the death of sylvannas because she was the true enemy. Pyromancer explains that the light needs life to feed off of, but when they starve they become void creatures. Void need life to feed off of too. If everything dies or is undead it can't be touched by either an therefore the light and shadow both die. If she is able to control the world, she will feel safer releasing the plague and if she does that. Everything dies, giving her the ultimate enemy of light and shadow. Or at least that's how I interpreted his theories about this subject. I think you may have a point where sylvannas is letting the little lion grow stronger so that she can feel the thrill of war that makes her feel alive again or she's preparing for another greater threat. Ex. Queen Azhara and the old gods

I totally agree that horde YTers laugh at the Jaina scene and some call it comic as they do that because they don't have a hero as powerful as her (in terms of magic). Bad days for horde for sure. Loved the cinematics.

The problem with your theory is that Blizzard rarely delves into anything approaching nuance or subtlety in writing their core story-lines... so rare, in fact, one might say they never do it. Blizzard tends to find the most trope-tastic, stereotypical story ideas and brute-forces them into the core cannon.

Your theory is interesting. Think of this Stlvanas has spent some time in the presence of Arthas as the lich king. She knows the current one may have good intentions but that will not last. Bolth the horde and the alliance will need strong leaders and ones they respect. She could be staging this to make both come to pass. With either Saurfang or Baine as a second choice for the horde warchief.

Part of me hopes that wrathion shows up, allying himself with sylvanas and this whole plan was just him convincing her to make anduin stronger. His only request is that she killed alleria (someone who has given herself up to the void), but when the time came to kill her (in the short comic blizz released), sylvanas decided not to (maybe out of old memories of the 3 of them, or maybe because vareesa was there). It would make more sense he would be present in a more old god expansion instead of being obsessed with defeating the legion. I mean the old gods were the reason his father was corrupted, thus his entire flight.

From what I understand, regardless of her personality, the strategy is to draw the attention of the Kalimdor Alliance, providing that the Azerbaijani is withdrawn faster, with no setbacks, and with success. In a war, strategically poorly placed cities must be sacrificed for the benefit of maintaining more resources. In the case, it gave great oxygen to the tactical formation in the defense of Kalimdor, in addition to keeping the machine of war of the Horde focused and without distractions. She opened two combat fronts, directing the enemy army and leaving them a little stunned. Sacrificing your own city, theoretically, is a way to show strength along with the rest of the Horde leaders, clearly stating your total commitment and the extent to which it will lead to this war. She will not accept lesser sacrifice than what she is doing. Losing Lordaeron means nothing before a mobilization to invade Silithus would be delayed, even more so now.

Sylvanas is winning for one important reason... She is bleeding the Alliance with multiple engagements that she is forcing them to enter haphazardly. When Sylvanas loses troops, they become undead and rise again to serve. When the Alliance loses troops, they stay dead... or worse, rise again to serve the Forsaken. When she attacked the World Tree, she inflicted losses on the Alliance. When the Alliance sieged Lordaron, she drew them into a protracted battle and killed as many of their troops as she could before getting away. The loss of territory may be 1:1, but the loss of manpower weighs in her favor... IMHO.

Anyone recognized the "hold on" from Khadgar's "I've got them". I feel a connection of some sorf there, that either or Jaina wont Khadgar wont let us know about. I think the Kirin Tor is stronger than we think, in a good way.

Can you read my theory about all this? ... I feel like Jaina's reaction to Andruins words is like... surprise then sadness, and I also feel like she recalls Arthas at this moment. As we all know Arthas was her life at some point, and we all know how that ended and we all know that Arthas was young and felt TOO much of a connection with his people. The moment Mel'ganis starts to turn the humans into Undead, Arthas slowly begins to blame himself, which is exactly what Anduin is doing right now. Feelings of love can me strongly twisted into rage and hate, like with the Lich King. The way Sylvanas talks to Anduin is as if she is playing with his mind, like she knows something. So my theory is that maybe just maybe, Sylvanas is making Anduin go Arthas's life path, BUT this time for the good while she plays the evil Lich king.

I don't see a "I am proud of you Anduin" look on her face at all, she already called him a boy playing soldiers, she doesn't think much of Anduin as leader or a king for the Alliance, it was more of a "I got the better of you again, boy" kinda smirk....but I am Horde, maybe that's just my version of it......but to go along with your version, it could be right in the long run for Sylvanas because she can raise more to be her Forsaken. But no, she is doing this to preserve the Horde, to be more powerful and everlasting....no way would her sisters fight alongside her, there is too much hate and loathing so I doubt there will ever be a joining together permanently of Alliance and Horde, otherwise there be no World of Warcraft to play for except maybe killing more Legion or an old God or 2, But I love Jaina is now badass, even as horde, I say to her BRING IT! FOR SYLVANAS!!

Chaotic Rager In the novel it stated that she think of Anduin nothing more than a cub. Her encountering with him has been sarcastic with little to no respect for him and literally making fun of him in Arathi highland. She however did has more respect toward Varian because all and all Varian was a strong ruler.
