Pen sleeve vs. Pen case vs. Pen wrap! Who will win?!?

I love all of them! My Monteverde 36 pen case is perfect for protecting my pens not in use & I keep it on the bookshelf. My go to ... always in use is my Nock Sinclair because I can fit so many inked pens in it! (And squish my currently inked booklet in too) I also reach for sleeves all the time for when I pack a bag/purse & take just 1 or 2 pens! I love pen rolls as well but I don't find myself using them quite as much right now as I used to. Your leather one is gorgeous! Thanks for another fun video!

Thanks for this, super interesting comparison showing the trade-off's for each product. I have not "graduated" to a pen wrap (just yet!) and am using a Gallen Leather five pen holder, which to me at least, is kind of the best of both worlds. It also helps me maintain my limit of having a max of 5 pens in use at one time. Again super helpful comparison.

I carry my pens in a bucket, but don't worry they don't knock about because I fill the bucket with jam.

"Fight to the death?" NO! To the pain! ZIPPERS, amiright? Very thorough walk-thru of the different options: Burritos vs. Cases. I think we know who won this battle. The sound effects are a nice bonus. ;-)

I’ve been inviting the legibility of my Rickshaw 1, 2, 3 cozy holders. And I think you’ve convinced me to try pen rolls as my collection grows instead of loading up on pen cases. I bet you could fit a number I’d those pen rolls rolled up or laid out and stacked on top of each other in a single boot box.

Youre too funny! Lol! I prefer italian leather three pen (pencil, rollerball, fountain sets) sleves for carrying in my Suit jackets and pen cases for long term storage. Great video!

So helpful, I've been trying all kinds of solutions but missed the cool Rickshaw ideas on GouletPens. Very cool.

Just now starting to journal. Appreciate the encouragement. Enjoy the pen tolls too. I will try hard to stick with journaling because I have too many real life struggles I need to write down my thoughts and emotions. Trying to get emotionally healthy right now. Thanks for the encouragement. Peace.

I love the RIckshaw bagworks penrolls, and their 3 pen case which has room in the back for a small field notes type booklet. I have the lighterweight 6 roll that doesn't have the over flap and is thus less bulky, I can even slip it into a larger zippered pouch I have my other pens in which are my b-list. The 6 roll holds the pens I'll want for journaling or letter writing, whatever my 6 favorites are at the moment.

Good video. Maybe next time you can provide a link to where to buy? Thanks!

I used my Monteverde 36 pen case for those not in use. My EDC is my Nock Sinclair. I have a pen roll for my not-in-use pocket pens and a variety of single pen sleeves for the odd carry.

I'm new to fountain pens, I don't know what I prefer. to many questions so I'm searching. thank you for your wonderful resources.

I prefer a case with a zipper to avoid accidental slipping out of a sleeve or wrap. I tried a roll and “loading” and rolling it was too huge.

What do you do for longer term storage of your full collection? Cabinet, drawers, etc, etc

I store a majority of my beloved pens in a rectangular box-size pen storage case, made of quality leather with a glass top so that you can clearly see the pens inside. It has a lock and key much like a briefcase. I really like it that way. For my every day carry pens, I usually have them in single or two or three-pen leather pen case/holder. I even take them out to work or other places where I know I’ll need to use my pens.

I have a relatively small collection (12) and as such have made rather expensive additions. For this reason I prefer the case. I've never felt they were of a size to ever be a burden and are of a finer quality in general than the other options you mentioned. I have a 3- and 6-pen Visconti and a 3-pen leather case from Girologio. They are both very fine aesthetically and in build quality. I would probably recommend the Girologio to a newb because it's cheaper than the Visconti, but is of comparable quality. Thanks for the video - I bow to your greater experience and will give a sleeve a try for my cheaper (but loved) pens like my Prera, M205, or Eco.

I definitely prefer pen wraps; Rickshaw, to be exact. I dislike zippers, elastics, and the velvety material of cases which seems to catch every speck of lint known to man. I like that Rickshaw keeps the pens completely isolated from each other, and very secure in their slots. I've never had one fall out as the material really hugs over the pen, without it being tight. My only complaint is the price. It is fabric, after all, and their prices compare to leather products which will outlive the fabric product.

In the larger pocket in the leather wrap, could you put a Pineider, Visconti or even a TWSBI Vac 20 traveling ink well?

Keri, thanks for the great overview. If you had to choose one brand each for wraps, cases and sleeves, what would YOU choose? I’m a newbie, so want to spend my $ carefully.

I like my unbranded leather pen case. Allows me to carry three pens, which i found is the practical number for me. Although my case is nearly needing replacement, and I'm now tempted to buy a 4 or 5 pen case 😊 I find pen sleeves generally impractical... But boy are there super pretty kimono style sleeves 😍

I've boiled down to a leather single pen sleeve. For multiple pens, nock looks like they know what they're doing. Manhattan Portage too. The grail has to be the (seemingly unavailable) Piquadro Nikolai case that @pelahale talked about.

I have a wrap that is very nice. Pens I carry to work are stored 2 or 3 in eyeglass cases similar to pen sleeves but not divided. I put these in a zippered pencil case in my tote bag. I don't carry any pens that have a finish that concerns me so it's ok with me if they are next to each other. The glasses cases I have are very inexpensive for readers I got at Walmart.

I have some cases for storage... For carry, one pen in shirt pocket. I haven't found any reason to get fancier than that :)

Pen sleeves for on the go and a pen case for the ones that are not being used as often.
@alexmood64074 жыл бұрын
I only like Visconti pen cases. Franklin Christoph worries me that it will gradually take off the plating from my thicker pens. Nock is not protecting at all, except maybe water. Pen wraps may let pens touch and get micro scratches.

If i'm taking pens out with me i just put them in a small pencil case and if I'm at home I don't put them in anything as I'm not lazy and can just go get another pen rather that put several in a case.

I am selling off the majority of my mostly lower end pens. Pound notes take up less space. I, however am keeping all my Pilot pens and all my Jinhao X750 pens with various Bock nibs. To add to that, I will keep my wonderful Penbbs pens especially the demonstrater 322 and the beautiful blue/purple 352. The rest I don't care much about. If I had to keep one fountain pen it would be my beloved Waterman's 515 with the wonderful 14k gold semi flex nib from the 1940s. It was given to me by a friend. Oh, and my old Pilot 78g with a Broad stub nib. Memories eh. As to storage. Memory almost full. Pen storage, I use a Lehit labs pouch with a mini moleskin notebook in it. 3 pens. Pilot Custom heritage 912 with the fa nib, Waterman's 515 and the 78g.
