164! Pure old-school sound!

The 164L still has the best V8 sound in my opinion. I just love the raw sound of that engine. Great video Stavros.

For me, I'll take the 164 anyday of the week sound wise, but I would take the S580 if I had to choose a work horse. Great video Stavors!

For me its the R-560!

S580 sounds best to me. But I just enjoy watching you. All of them sound good

164 for sure sounds the absolute best out of these three. while i'll have to agree on the comfort statement on the S580.

Nice video as always Stavros ! The old 164L has definitly the best sound with it`s raw rumbles and the manual gearbox. But in case of the newer ones i would prefer the S580, which sounds much better whithout the EGR. Scania did great work on the newer engine generations ! Greetings from Germany !

Gotta love the 2003 V8. It sounds tough and powerful. But it sounds so loud on the cab (based on the video), I bet it would take a toll on driver's comfort and sanity constantly hearing the powerful V8.

I always thought that the 164 had te best sound but now i hear the S580, wich sounds lots smoother and stil had the v8 roar in it. i would like say now that the S580 sounds the best of the 3 generation's.

I think in terms of what a diesel should sound like I'll pick the 164L! Followed by the 580. Great video, my results surprised me! Thank you for sharing this video and Merry Christmas!

Morning Fella, For me personally? I’d have to plump for the 2003 164’. It’s that pure raw sound and it’s almost like you’ve gone back to days gone by of the 1980’s/90’s. Hi Stavros. Great vid as always. My choice of v8 sounds is 164 closely followed be R560 as they sound mechanical then trailing would be the s580 which sounds refined. If I had to choose a daily driver it would be s580 all day.

164, old but gold

My school got a Scania 144G 460 V8 and I have been fortunate enough to drive it several times. The V8 in this truck sounds great! I have also had a ride in a Scania S580 V8 and it had a nice sound to it too.

164L sounds the best Stavros!

Of these 3 I have to say the 164 but my personal favorit is the old 141 Stay well and be safe

hy Stavros, very nice video, thanks for making this, you are awesome! I think all sounds great, but: The 164 has a lot of character. The raw noise of an old v8 diesel, a slight noise from the axle, and a bit turbo whistling, the noise when you push the clutch is cute :D. I like it The R560 sounds more precise, no fuss just raw power, and a lot of turbo noise. I cant hear the v8 when you are on the motorway :( The S580 sounds precise, powerful, and quiet, from outside its a lot of turbo noise. But from the inside its very relaxing, smooth, comfy. I like 164 for its charcter, but i'd like to spent my days in a S580, its some much less tiring. Thanks again for the video!

164L has the real ''raw oldskool'' sound but If you put an open exhaust on all of them I think the 560 would sound the best..

1. 164L - Deepest roar 2. S 580 - Powerful sound 3. R 560 - Flat, "eco sound" And don't get me wrong, the greener the better, but when it comes to engine sound, deep sound of raw power is music to my ears :)

Sound was hard to decide the best , however I would choose the 580 because new. It is a shame the European tractors aren't sold here in America. The tractors here are the long wheel base machines as you know, which I suspect are harder to navigate as opposed to the cab over units.

Hi Stavropol for me it’s the 164L cause of the manual gear box then the 580 S quieter sound and then the R 460.

the s580 sounds brilliant, it has a nice low rumble, but the 164L is still the best, the raw sound is awesome

If you asked me in the street I would have said the 164 480, but listening to the video I really like what Scania have done to the sound of the new S series!! So I am going for the S580! The R560 is just too muted and stifled for me. I think they over quietened the engine. Still sounds better than any 6 cylinder though! 😉 Love your videos btw. Keep em coming! 👍🏻

It's a bit difficult to decide bcuz I don't know much about universal acceptance of a good scania truck engine sound since according to me, they all sound almost similar with just a tad bit of subtle differences 😁. Well, personally I go for the engine sound of scania r560 v8 2014..the sound kinda prominent and it spells power 💪 to me somehow 😅✌️!

164 hands down you can't get better than a big v8 with a manual box

nice video, the old one sounds better tho :D one question, are you allowed to put the ADR plate like on that 164 ? as far as i know it has to be 400mm for the BASE and 300mm for the HEIGHT, in that case it's the opposite

The S580 wins hands down on the outside sound. The video does well to show how much Scania have improved the cab noise levels in the new gen trucks. The 164 is still awesome though, glad to hear you are not planning to sell it, definitely has the cool factor. R560 had a good turbo sound on the outside.

You should stick a p2 str8 pipe on the old two for the snap crackle and pop

Definitely 164, then 560 then 580. Newer technology means less sound. Love the manual shifting in 164 as well.

The S580 sounds the best of those 3 but the absolute best sounding Scania you have had on your videos Stavros969 would be the T143M with its dual exhaust stacks

For me they are all great, but if I have to choose I'd say the 164L because I like the old sound!

R 560 or 164L if you ask me, I like the startup and sound from R 560, but I like how the noice comes in the cabin in the 164L and how it sounds when you don't press the gas

S580 gotta be, more of an exhaust tone on it. That Porsche exhaust sounds nice on them.

Gotta be the 164L! Although in terms of what truck would I want to live with on a day to day basis it's still the new S580!

The 164L sounds the nicest, if you just try it. However, if you work with it, the best one is the one you can't even hear, meaning it's the new one. It's just so nice when you can listen to music on low volume and still hear nothing else at all.
