We're exploring one of the most important battles from Napoleon's 1805 Ulm campaign, where he encircled and captured an entire Austrian field army. But to make this stunning achievement possible, the French had to capture the Danube River crossing at Elchingen on October 14, 1805. Marshal Michel Ney and his corps are given this critical task...can the Austrians rewrite history and maintain control over the Danube? Or will Ney earn his historical title, "Duke of Elchingen" once more?
To play this wargame we're using the rules Lasalle 2, written in 2020 by Sam Mustafa and Honour Games. You can learn more about the rules at the official Honour website, sammustafa.com/
This video is our first experiment with a brand new, shorter video format. We're calling it "The Quick Strike Challenge," and we want YOU to be a part of it. I really wish all wargamer's KZfaq videos could do what you do - you managed cram all action, player reactions, the actual history AND some explanations of the rules - in only a few minutes. Much, much, much better than an unedited two or three hour video like some that are out there

@@madhog81nothing annoys me more when watching a battle report is to see the players moving every unit. It takes up so much time and is needless. The best channels know when to cut footage and to give a quick recap of the movement phases and then jump right back into the action.

Aggressive but out numbered and (in this re-fight not so poorly commanded) Austrians out fight the French! Genius. More of this please. A good advert for Lasalle, not seen these rules played out before, I have a copy but have never got round to trying them out as I tend to play larger scaled games e.g. Blucher, Bloody Big Battles, Volley and Bayonet etc. Love the furry table BTW.

We also tend to go bigger battle most of the time, but for smaller actions Lasalle is a slick little game. It has a neat mechanic where there is no standard turn sequence--the players take whatever actions they want until they get interrupted. It makes for an unpredictable flow.

I'm all for shorter videos with narrative structure and editing. I am not the audience for a roll by roll 3 x 1.5 hour epic. But I did wonder if 10 minutes is a little too short; I feared that maybe the format was more about teaching lessons in storytelling and editing by forcing people to distil their material right down rather than being the ideal short video format itself. I'm happily proven wrong, this didn't suffer at all from the very tight format, and having it as the precursor to a larger engagement offers something for everybody, and gets you more material out of your modelling efforts. I reckon I'll be shooting some stuff to upload before the year is out.

@LittleWarsTV
@LittleWarsTV 3 жыл бұрын
Correct, it is a separate order. At the end of each order you execute the opponent in Lasalle MIGHT have an opportunity to interrupt. In this case--the particular footage you're seeing here--Miles did not interrupt. Steve was able to execute a move order, followed by a formation change, without Miles intervening. But they are separate actions as you indicated.

This is a mix of two different companies--Battle Honors (sold by Old Glory USA) and Minifigs (a very old range!). You could absolutely play Lasalle in 6mm scale. Our 15mm figures are based for Age of Eagles, which is 1" deep by 3/4" wide (or 1x1 for cavalry). Lasalle is pretty agnostic about basing, which is nice since we don't like rebasing!
