I just learned that this is Duke Ellington's Orchestra playing with the iconic Louis Armstrong and that Duke wrote the score for the movie. Miles Davis said paul Newman used to come hear him play and Newman told miles Davis he wanted to observe him because he was playing jazz musician in film he was about to do called Paris Blues. Wow.

I know the music here is extremely "happy", and uptempo and positive, but when I heard it today it was so beautiful to me I nearly cried. Mr Armstrong was SUCH a genius, (and so were the All Stars).

just came here after watching the movie for the first time, was full on sobbing by the end of this scene. so exciting and powerful. the musicians (esp. louis) were too brilliant, i didn’t want it to ever end.

Completely amazing and wonderful. I've loved this film from the first time I saw it on TV (at age 11 or 12) with my late mom, and will love it for the rest of my life.

Prince was a fine musician...no doubt about it. I can see why people like his music...it just wasn't my thing.

The place looks a lot like the Caveau de la Huchette. Can anyone confirm, or tell which place is this?

I' m not sure but it seems to me that in the movie it is "the Tabou" but it looks bigger than the original Tabou

remember we are in 1961, there is not a lot of jazz drummer in France , Moustache was a popular actor but played jazz with a lot of formation by the way

It seems Le Caveau de la Huchette, however I believe it is a bigger night club. In the film the place appears as Club 33.

the club owner made 10 grand on booze that night... and the musicians left their earnings with the cab driver.
