The Steyr M.95 or Mannlicher M1895 is a very unique rifle but it can be frustrating if you are just getting into collecting them! The late 1800's saw a number of advances in firearms technology. One of the most unique rifles was the straight pull, bolt action, Mannlicher M95. Many M95's would later be converted to the new 8x56mmR. Some countries had differences in their various conversions. There is so much to learn. In this video I cover some of the things to keep in mind if or when you start your M95 collection. Some of these things were a bit frustrating or annoying when I first started looking into them. If you can get over the little quirks, this Astro-Hungarian rifle is a very nice addition to any military surplus collection.

Update: This rifle is still venerated in Bulgaria. A small correction: the markings on the rear sight are actually Schritten (steps), not meters. One step equals 0.75 m, meaning shortest aiming distance is actually 225 m
