Great review. Thanks for mentioning us "lynpatnat" .Your take on the chainsaw is spot on for what they are. Not a Pro saw but definitely able to tackle some big logs. Next time I go out I will do a video of what I cut. We have done 24" Jarrah logs. The size of tree everyone else can't cut. It just rests on the fallen log and works is way through. I stop just short of the ground and do about 5 cuts. Then go back and finish the cuts. Eventually if I hit ground by accident I can still finish the cuts off with a bluntish chain. The chain lube. Try mixing cheap engine oil 3 parts to 1 part chain lube. It seems to flow faster. I also use an oil can on the chain whenever I take a breather. It flows into the chain/bar well as everything is warm and you can feel the chain moves better afterwards. They probably need a better oil flow but they sell more parts to people that let them run too dry. Keep up the good work we look forward to seeing more helpful videos.

lynpatnat thanks for your kind reply. After I made the video and then watched it I knew I wasn't up for a Logie and found I didn't articulate myself like I wanted to even though I made cues of screen to follow. If I cut out the "umms" and "ahhs" it would of been a concise 2 minute review hahaha! I've actually got a MTM 72SX afterwards with the 22" bar that I've become fond of. I managed to clean up half a fallen red gum a week ago and can't believe how a little over a $100 chainsaw can tackle the wood I've got access to. I'm definitely going to follow your recommendation on the bar oil, I had more success when I went a lighter grade and when the bottle of super tak was left out in the sun. I really enjoyed your review, it was extremely helpful for me. I think I've become addicted to eBay 2 stroke Chinese power tools... I have no doubt at this end of the market there going to be a lot of dodgy pieces of crap, but the three items I've bought from Edisons have been absolute rippers!

J Proctor thanks for the positive feedback. For a cheap Chinese knockoff, it paid for itself over and over and over again in the amount of firewood I collected with it. Other than a few little issues (a couple of replacement ripcords and the ripcord spool replaced with a Husqvarna unit), it never missed a beat! However, I readily admit, a bloke doesn’t know what a bloke doesn’t know. Last year a fella I know gave me a crack at his Stihl MS661 and as of last month, I now own a Stihl MS661. It’s a freaking beast compared to the Chinese cheapy. There have been a few crappy ones out there but I cannot fault they one I bought and there are a number of other channels who have had good experiences with theirs. If you can afford the Husqvarna or Stihl equivalent, I’d honestly recommend either product. If bucks are really tight (like it was for me when I took a chance on buying the Chinese cheapy), providing you get a good one, the Baumr Ag or MTM (I bought a 72cc one of those as well...) will do the job.

I have a SX72 and a 1st gen SX92. The SX72 has cut up a fair bit of wood over about 6 years. A number of things have broken on it but they can be repaired easily enough. The vibration rubbers all self destructed as did my old mans ones and they are easily sourceable and replaced. I have also replaced the trigger lock as that broke. The air filter is horrendous and eventually I intend to mod it. The SX92 was bought 2nd hand from someone who had no idea about chainsaws and it had been a bit brutalised. The saw itself is a fairly horrendous design with the air cleaner removal involving taking off a number of covers. It's got the same crappy filter as the SX92 and it's going to get modded for a better air cleaner and also for easier access. The SX72 has been a great saw and I reckon it cuts comparatively well compared to the old mans old 60 and 70cc Stihl saws. I definitely have had my moneys worth out of it.

Hi Alan. I readily admit when I bought mine, I had no idea what I was doing. But month after month I was collecting large amounts of firewood with mine. Mine paid for itself on my first trip out compared to what you’d pay someone to deliver wood to you. Apart from the ripcord spool packing it in and replacing it with a Husqvarna one, mine didn’t miss a beat. On the advice of another KZfaqr, I bought a 20” Oregon bar and 5 chains out of the US cheap years ago and I absolutely loved it. But then, a bloke told me to have a go of his Stihl MS661C and then I had the enlightened moment - the Chinese rip-off was a good reliable unit, the Stihl is an absolute beast! Sooooooooo, I bought the same model Stihl over a year ago, takes me longer to load the wood than it does to cut it. I’ve a soft spot for my Baumr-AG but I love my big assed Stihl! Thanks for sharing your experience on the German sounding Chinese chainsaw 👍🏼

supposedly theyre 70cc in reality the 82 and the 92 , however good for the price, id like to port one to make it sing, weve had the 70+cc's for around 7 years , once they finally died after much maintenance over the years i pulled the motor down wasnt too bad internally , oil tanks leaked , clutch always smoked, they laboured quite a bit so carbies need tuning , bars wore out fairly quick but we usedthem all a bit, i think an oregon bar would be the go. wish they were 50:1 ratio though kinda smokey. i think a skip tooth chain is the call for these things with longer bars. good for the ,money. shipping has jumped up up a bit to WA though so i was looking at johno and johno, you can get better parts availability for repairs. that was a big issue for me as i fix things i dont bin them im a mechanic who likes to tinker. holzfforma is interesting also now that you can get every concievable part and cheap, exact coppies of stihl well almost Lol

Bill Greene Hi Bill thanks for the kind words. The wood I've collected over the last 3 seasons has paid for itself over and over. I did get a 20" Oregon bar and 5 chains from Frawleys Saw Shop over your way which gave it a bit more grunt at the bar ;-) I have however had the unfortunate experience of using a new Stihl 92cc MS661 on some rock hard wood a few weeks ago and I now get why people buy the top end Stihl and Husky saws - it was a beast! So much so I now obsess over it... I do love my Chinese cheapy, it has done more than I could have ever asked of it and will continue to use it every year but one thing is for certain - I will have a new Stihl MS661 next season :-D

Interesting that the Chinese saws recommend 10 w 30 motor oil for the bar oil, or at least I can say that mine did. It also called for 24 to1 ratio on the fuel mix. Perhaps the pumps simply are not strong enough to pull super tac bar oil ? If that's all we can complain about then our worries are small. Nice saw, nice chat.

Southeastern Ohio Honeybees right on! The small issues are outweighed by the positives. And when you work out their idiosyncrasies, they really are a good thing for the money. I can't believe the reliability and ease of start and use I've got from this chainsaw. I did go a lighter grade of bar oil and also worked out if I left the bottle of super tack oil in the sun, its viscosity was lighter and it used bar oil more freely. Looking forward to collecting firewood this coming season. Thanks for your kind words :)

Southeastern Ohio Honeybees These are 372 husky clones, like the huztl saws I see you have a few off, it should handle proper bar oil fine, my huztl 372 clone handles really thick tacky oil fine. EatsBox, make sure the oilier is turned up, and make sure the clutch drum notch is lining up with the oil drive gear arm, it wont pump properly if its not.

Yes that 066 I built from Huztl turned out to be too much saw for me to start. I need to make an electric starter for it like the racing go carts, great saw crazy good compression. I still have the heart by my arm seems to have failed me early at 50.

LOL, I have a 660 kit from them as well with the big bore cylinder on it, I know what you mean, mad compression, have you tried changing the decomp valve for a genuine stihl or husky one, the huztl ones are very well know to be too weak and pop shut while trying the start the saw, and making them too hard to pull over, the genuine ones shouldn't close until the saw fires.

After flogging mine for a few years and getting acquainted with the world of chainsaws, mine still starts after a few pulls of the cord on last seasons 2 stroke. Having said that, I upgraded to a Stihl MS661 C-M last year so now the Chinese cheapy is now relegated to yard work at home only. With the new Stihl, it takes me longer to load up the firewood than cut it! Thanks for your feedback, the more information out there (both good and bad - whilst my experience was good unfortunately others were not...), the better 👍🏼

Alan Langhorn G'day Alan thanks mate. I've replaced the ripcord with a generic Bunnings job and the pull start spool (bit of an adventure diagnosing - thought it was the spring originally...), the spool was from the local Husky dealer - this is a 372XP knock off and parts are interchangeable so it seems. Oh and I bought a Oregon 20 inch bar and 5 chains from Frawleys Saw Shop in the US. Was planning on getting a big arse Stihl when this shits itself but I can't bloody kill it! So it'll probably be sometime before the Stihl comes home. I nearly went for a Giantz but my review search found these and thanks to the people I mention in this video, I went this way. Also, check out a bloke called Alex Swan on here, he has some kick arse reviews on MTM chainsaws sold by Edison 👍🏼

Jamesgeorgevella Vella Hi James, I've been able to give it a red hot go since I bought it and it's definitely punched above its weight. Chain tensioner is just crap. Ripcord spool needed a bit of TLC recently but now rectified. Cut off switch....or keep running don't worry about it 😳 That's happened just recently too, now I have to pull the choke to switch it off. I also bought a MTM that has a similar chain tensioner system, yet that works no problems 🤔

Hi Big Gun thanks for that. Bit bloody hot at the moment for it but can't wait to collect more wood in the cold season! I have been using my MTM 72cc more than the Baumr, lighter to use and plenty of power. Even if they crapped out this year (not likely though) I'd buy them again. I got a 7 In 1 Baumr whipper snipper/pole saw/slasher/hedge cutter and as a whipper snipper you can't realistically use it at full throttle as it torque twists at full tilt. Bloody powerful! It don't mess around in the garden, it's a beast :-)

i bought one of these baumrs cos my curiousity couldnt let me go past it for the price. within a fortnite the brake stopped working, and the cutting bar was made from such a soft steel that it had deformed beyond repair. the saw would only cut on a 45 degree angle for about an inch. luckily it made me enough money to go get mysellf a decent stihl and i promptly threw the baumr in the bin

Hi Dave I almost forgot I’d done this review. When I first bought mine, I’d replaced the bar with a 20” Oregon and five chains out of Frawleys Saw Shop in the US. Having spoken to a number of people who’ve owned them, it seems a bit hit and miss. Mine still runs to this day (even with old fuel in the tank). I ended up putting on a set of big boys pants when I bought a Stihl MS661 a couple of years back and the Baumr got relegated to around the yard chores. I could go collect the big cuts of redgum with reviewed saw, but I could also come home heaps quicker using the Stihl. Not gonna lie, I love that Stihl of mine. Find myself more often than not eyeing off second hand ones on Facebook marketplace lol! Sorry to hear yours was a clunker. I’ve bought a few items off Edisons that have exceeded expectations (MTM 72cc chainsaw and Baumr whipper snipper), but I know there’s also horror stories out there such as yours. Thanks for leaving a comment. I know our experiences were completely different but the more information that’s out there, the better it is for people out there trying to make a balanced decision on buying one 👍🏼

@@EatsBox Bloody oath mate! i was toying with the idea of upgrading the bar as you did and seeing if i could keep it going, but i decided to bin it when the brake wasnt going. I wouldnt say to anybody to not buy one of these, but id recommend them more to the tinkerer/mechanically minded types, the types of fellas who dont mind muckin around with a 2 stroke motor rebuild or whatever. but as a person who sells firewood i havent got the time to pull the machine apart. and its not ALL bad news, the baumr did earn me enough cash to go buy the ms271. moral of the story: Its about as good as anything you get made in prc, except this happens to also be a chainsaw.

@@davel9909 that is freaky you say that because I was only thinking when I replied to you that these chainsaws are good for blokes who like messing around with 2 strokes! There is a reference cast in the metal that made me wonder if it was a 372 clone 🤔 (A fair amount of commentary on the interwebs by people far smarter than me also suggest that it is…) That poor thing got relegated to yard work after I bought a Stihl MS661. And now it hasn’t seen action in ages. I can’t hate on the Baumr-AG, it got me going on collecting firewood and served me well for at least two solid seasons without missing beat. Hi guitargup, thanks for your comment. Seeing you are feeling a little troll like today, I offer you a rebuttal. And to keep it nice and easy, I'll respond to your three (was four) comments over two posts here. But before we get to that, let me call out the bullshit here. So I know who I'm taking to, lets check you out... "I like to think of my work as basically a universal plethora of progressive neo-80's and 90's rockadelics :) Thanks for visiting!... Remember, life is good :) If you wish to leave a comment, please, no swear words or swear-acronyms, let's keep it clean in here :) Thanks =)" Ha, you strongly imply you want no negativity on your channel yet you are happy to be a keyboard commando. You call me an "Aussie dipstick" in a post, which I see you have now deleted. Why? Don't you stand by your keyboard bravery? Or did you rightly figure it was uncalled for? Your hypocrisy is rather astounding... And here for all the world to see :-/ No, I am not a Baumr Ag saleman or any other chainsaw salesman for that matter. If you are of rational mind, you either did not watch my video or if you did, did not listen to what I said for you to make the comments that you have. Are you a Husky or Stihl salesman? Is daytime drinking a thing for you and you come home and bash the keyboard? Or seriously dude, are you just having a bad day and need to vent??? In regards to your callout to "show us how the toy cuts", whilst I would love to put up a video of me cutting wood in a very average manner, I can only presume (?) you are in the US or somewhere else in the Northern Hemisphere. Here in my part of Australia today, like most days have been lately in our summer, is a day of high fire danger and total fire bans. Only a dickhead would be out cutting wood with a chainsaw in bone dry paddocks here at the moment. Just like the US, we too can suffer from massive catastrophic bush fires. If you are seriously keen to see how these "toys" work, please check out Alex Swan and Gavman's Workshop as to the performance of Baumr Ag and other Chinese chainsaw "toys". "cheap unresearched unsafe chinese garbage..." Ummmm, you mean like the Husqvarna 286 in the foreground of my SX82 Followup review that's made in the Peoples Republic of China? So if it's got Husqvarna or Stihl written on it, then that's ok if it's made in China? Where's your boundary when it comes to "cheap unresearched unsafe chinese garbage" when a fanboy of Non-Chinese companies have some of their items made in China? I hate to break it to you, but a lot of vital components in vehicles worldwide are made in China. One of my backgrounds is spare parts, owners of expensive high end Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge would probably not be happy to know their fuel filters, oil filters and other components come out of....China! And it's certainly not the only multinational car manufacturer that does this. Almost all of them do. So where exactly do you reconcile your views on Chinese garbage when your life is filled with it more than you realise or care to know? The dangers of chainsaws are not exclusive to "unsafe Chinese garbage" and seeing your channel I'd make a fair assumption that you enjoy/use/understand chainsaws? What makes a Chinese chainsaw more dangerous than any other? My Father has a McCulloch "made in the USA" that has a broken chain brake that I'd be fucked if I'm using that any time soon! So any other chainsaw has never failed to cut before? Like anything mechanical, maintenance is the key. If you don't look after ANY mechanical item, it will fail. By what statistical standard do you use to qualify your comment that "it'll kill people and flatten houses?" None, your comments have been a mixture of sweeping statements of no thought and substance, and trolling. Hahaha there's enough video evidence on KZfaq alone that disqualifies your comment of people fucking up cutting down trees into houses with reputable brand chainsaws. Cheaply made Chinese chainsaws don't seem to be a common theme in these videos, operator misjudged or operator who should never use a chainsaw is the common denominator. "of course its slow to cut... its a cheap dangerous toy... not a real chainsaw "... Excellent, you're an expert in Australian hardwoods then! Ohhhhh, you didn't realise the wood was hard as all fuck and blunts both "dangerous Chinese chain!" as quick as the Oregon bar and 5 chains I bought out of the US? Most blokes with all the best chainsaws and gear wont even cut Grey Box because it's so damned hard. The reward of burning Grey Box is that it burns hot and when mixed with other Gum such as Red Box lasts in the fire box. But were you aware of that? Don't worry answering, it was a rhetorical question because of course you didn't. Just another of your sweeping statements. If you did watch any of my videos, I did offer the warning of caveat emptor - buyer beware. Anything anyone buys online cheap should never have the expectation of being the best thing ever or even fulfilling the intended role, at least for extended periods. My experience with 2 Chinese chainsaws and a Chinese 7 in 1 polesaw/whipper snipper has been better than ever expected and are still going strong. I know cheap shit online is exactly that - cheap shit. Not everything online cheap is a bad thing if it perfectly meets your needs and exceeds your expectations. If this upsets your worldview opinion with that, the problem obviously lays with you, not me. Olive branch - if you are a dude that for some unknown reason uncharacteristically decided to troll some random channel on KZfaq or simply just had a bad day and something set you off, it's ok. Not my thing to have a crack at people unnecessarily on social media but hey, we all have bad days. Caveat - if you are a douchebag that enjoys getting a little lippy on the internet to random people yet asks people to be polite on your own channel, I can't really control that thin skinned hypocrisy can I? Remember, life is good :)

guitargup Hi guitargup. Thank you very much for your sincere reply. To coin an American term - no harm, no foul ;-) I totally appreciate what you said and I can see you are very passionate about this subject. And on this subject there is something you and I will absolutely agree on - anybody whose lives and the lives of others depend on chainsaws and the like (fire and rescue, state emergency services, volunteer rescue organisations, professional chainsaw operators etc.), I would expect they are equiped with the best of the best in those regards without compromise. If my life depended on it, I'd want the team coming to save my arse not to be equiped with a cheap eBay chainsaw. But for my needs, groundwork mainly, the Chinese knockoff has paid for itself many times over in firewood collected. Horses for courses. And if my Chinese Wang Chung does shit itself, I'll either buy another one or steal the Old Man's Stihl that I eye with much jealousy... When I bought this thing, I did so with the expectation of it failing in some way. However the smartarse in me wanted to see what I could do and how far I could push it before it did. Apart from replace the bar down to a 20" Oregon and 5 chains from Frawleys Saw Shop courtesy of the US of A, a replacement pull start cord and a new pull start cord spool (OEM Husqvarna for 372XP), I haven't killed this bastard yet over 2 season of collecting big lots of firewood, in wood size (biggest would have been 3 to 4 foot across) and volume of wood. The cynical smartarse in me is still shocked at its performance... Lol I too don't drink that often anymore and when I get drunk (extremely rarely these days) I too get a little feisty but I also get tired and Facebook/KZfaq/etc is last thing I want to do so I usually end up falling asleep. Though I do sometimes watch 80s music classics on KZfaq, then fall asleep on iPad...wait...I do that sober too! Don't feel bad dude, all good, like Bruce Lee says, be like water ;-) Peaceful life is best life, be happy with yourself, happy with your loved ones, happy with your friends - it took me way too long in life to learn these things myself... Plus, how can I dislike a person who is into 80s music regardless of what they say? Best decade ever :-D Out of all my toys growing up, Star Wars and GI Joe was my favourite! Who would of fucking known all these years later those things would become expensive! FML! Hahaha don't let Eddie Murphy know you've got those GI Joes, if he comes around for a bath, we know how the rest of this story goes! "GI Joe wants to find out where the bubbles is coming from..." 😳

Alex Swan ANZAC day arvo I got a trailer and ute load with the MTM. Cut heaps of rotted red gum, threw the chain twice. Whipped out the Baumr-AG, chain blunter than a pissheads pick up line. Wasn't going home with a half load so finished cutting in front of the light bar. I need to sharpen up and make a vid. The dialog will be better on my second review - I won't be talking! 😂

Hi EatsBox, how come the MTM was throwing the chain? I'm currently tossing up between the MTM and Baumr!

Speckled Pig G'day Speckled Pig, throwing the chain was me. Chain got blunt and I cut heaps and I needed to re-tension the chain after a while and I was getting lazy/cranky, so it wasn't the chainsaw at fault. Both are great saws for the money. I've been using the MTM mostly these days as it's a lighter saw and cuts great - when I keep the chain sharp ;-) No doubt in the past there's been some crappy ones get out but everyone I know personally that has bought these have been more than impressed! Even if you got one good season out of it, it will pay for itself. And if you watch some these more active and more Xperience KZfaq users, they are getting well more than one season out of them.

EatsBox cheers mate, I have a husky 55 which is fairly old so it’s a bit of a pig. Looking for something with plenty of grunt which won’t break the bank. After watching your video I’m torn between an 82cc and 72cc! Tho, for cutting firewood a lighter saw is handy. Cheers for the great video, these cheap saws were once crap but it seems they are now great value and a nice tool once they are fully understood.

Speckled Pig just cut up some thick nuggety lumps of wood I dragged home the other day. Sharpened the MTM supplied Chinese chain and in less than 2 minutes I cut up a couple of nights piece of cake. I expected the chain to be shit but after a sharpen they cut like a brand spanker. Poor ol baumr ag seems to be unloved, I can't stop using the MTM! Glad I got both though 😁

Yes really. But the only question is how good the engine is, how powerful and how good the quality of the component in the reality.

nothing like it at all there are NO compatible engine parts or clutch parts or electronic parts... it only look slike one cuase they stole the looks from husky and used the husky looks to sell the cheap saws. they do not have anywhere near the power of the huskys and they are not as reliable or as safe as the huskys i AM a professional by the way... they are however, a GREAT saw FOR FIREWOOD cutting.... i would not ever stick one into a tree over 10 inches across becuase my life would depend on it in that case. when my life is going to depend on it and im not just cutting firewood,.. i will use STIHL HUSKY or ECHO only .. ive had far too many oriental saws like that one.... fail during use. Whats the phone number you can call to ask Baumr-ag where the facility is that they dynoed their chainsaws at... they dont even know how much hp they have at what rpm they are only guessing and throwing bigger numbers up there to sell the saws. Great saw for just homeowner woodcutting NOT for PROFESSIONAL USE of ANY kind.

the husky455 rancher has the same hp as that 82 cc baumr ag.. DYNO BOTH SAWS and see for yourself. the husky rancher has 55 cc's and it will dyno to the same hp as that 82cc oriental paperweight made to look like a husky... they sell the saw only on ebay austrailia cause they want peopel to think its australian... it isnt.. it's oriental
