Quality, you have to know how to fix things. Chain tensioner on this sx75 is also dodgy. Gets jammed when loosening. Thanks for watching☺

In this day and age this should not be going on. False advertising has been a no no in this country for decades. I think the authorities have taken their eye off the ball regarding this in recent times and need to crack down on manufacturers and importers telling bullshit about their products and Australian retailers perpetuating that bullshit so they can cash in on the manufacturers lies. Good work on highlighting this problem.

Yes, the authorities did eventually do something. After multiple complaints to fair trading, Edisons have changed their advertising. Now they are only claiming this saw as 62cc. Not correct but closer. Many other sellers are also exadgerating cc's on similar chainsaws. Thanks for watching.

Excellent video, great work. This seems to be pretty common with these saws, check "Gavman's Workshop" youtube channel, he pulled down a SX82 and it was also bore 50mm and stroke 36mm for 70.7 cc, which is exactly what you'd expect given it appears to be a Husky 372 clone.

.....apparently in the motorised bike columns it's been mentioned that the Chinese look at the full capacity of the piston chamber which includes the unswept combustion chamber not just the displaced capacity . ..Mine is an sx72 brand new which I purchased exactly ten years ago. I couldn't start it then and not doing much better today .It'll only run with choke engaged with help of the starter fluid .Soon as I disengage choke it cuts out. Naturally something isn't right with the carby. Since it's useless as is , I guess I'll pull it apart . I'm ignorant about those types of carburetors .

Not so sure in this case, I can say this, back when I Purchased my saws, sx92 & sx82 were sold as 92cc & 82cc but in fact, they are exactly the same incluting stroke, cylinder & piston. Both 70.7cc. Same combustion chamber. Obviously someone was telling lies & they new it. Thanks for watching.

I checked my "Lumik LK86" earth auger bought 2 years ago. This seems to be a rebranded "Baumr-ag" product. Claimed 86cc turned out to be 72cc in reality (bore 49.8mm, stroke 37.0mm). It seems this fraudulent misrepresentation of engine size has been going on for years; the ACCC and consumer groups like Choice are asleep at the wheel.

Hi Anthony, thanks for the review. Any recommendations on a budget saw for a home owner? Just for firewood collection. I have a Jonsered 2040 Turbo which is a bit undersized sometimes. Looking for a bigger bar/motor but it won't see heavy use. Neighbour has the SX62's and swears by them despite them failing every 2-3 years because they are so affordable to replace. I was looking at the 75 as well.

Hi Andy, thanks for watching. Firstly, if you are looking at chinese chainsaws, look carefully at the castings & other physical features. A number of other brands like MTM , GIANTZ & others are advertising 72 or 75cc saws. These are most likely 62cc or less as with my sx75 55cc. There are some genuine larger saws, but different design. Now my sx62, 61.5cc is over 6 years old, used a lot, replaced coil some years back & going strong. Supprisingly. It has poor air filter design. Currently using 22" bar. Sx75, 55cc saw is under powered for 22" bar supplied but has better air filter design. And dodgy chain tensioner needed modification. My choice between these two would be sx62 if new model is 62cc or close to as advertised. All chinese saws need a lot of maintenance & minor tweeking. Poor quality. For firewood, their fine. Maybe a good second hand Husqvarna or Stihl for the right price. If you can find. Good luck.

@@anthonysgarage5283 Thanks for that, I'm considering the MTM 72SX, which is listed as a 58cc running a 22". It seems to have positive reviews online. The SX62 gets a generally good wrap also but I was thinking the MTM being an extra 2" could be useful. The SX75 is now listed as 62cc also, which is another 22" option. I have read conflicting/poor things about the 75, 82 & 92. Do you have any feedback on the MTM SX72? Couple of positive vids of it on YT.

@@andyd6511 Hi Andy, I don't have any mtm saws, but looking at pictures of MTM 72SX, top cover makes me think it might have the improved air filter. 58cc should be ok for 22". My baumr sx75, 55-56cc (listed as 75cc at the time) did cut, but not as well as sx62, disappointed as advertised as 75cc. Don't believe current baumr sx75 specs of 62cc. It's 55-56cc. I think all these 55-62cc range saws come from same factories. I am thinking of putting 24" bar on my sx62 as I have a bad back & don't like bending over. This is why I suggested sx62. Bit more power for longer bar on light saw. As for baumr-ag sx82 & sx92, they are larger heavier saws. basically the same saws with different stickers & $$. These saws are a clone of Husqvarna 372xp. With actual 70.7cc same as Husqvarna. All parts available + cc upgrades available. Sx82 & sx92 or (G372xp) specs available at farmertec.com Hope this helps.

@@anthonysgarage5283 Thanks mate. Yes I liked my neighbour's SX62 but just thought why not try a 22" option since I want a good upgrade on my Jonsered 16". Collection just starting so I don't have bars and chains to swap around just yet. In terms of budget I'm trying to keep it cheap (dad shouting, birthday) so either the SX62, SX75 or 72SX. SX62 seems to be a safe bet so just wondering if I go the others for a 22" bar or get the SX62 and look at a bigger bar later maybe.

@@andyd6511 sounds like you have you're heart set on 72sx. This should be fine for firewood. You probably won't need longer than 22". All chinese saws will have minor issues to resolve. It's an individual choice. Pro's won't touch them, but for occasional firewood, budget saws, their fine. Trust your gut. Also please be careful. Always be mindful of the tip of the bar.I should practice what I preach, but safety gear would be good idea if you don't have already. Happy cutting.

@@anthonysgarage5283 ok just wanted to clarify, I was under the impression they didn’t believe you and thought you may just be wanting a refund etc.. but by you informing them they should at least check if they didn’t know the CC size to start with, So my next question is, I just bought a SX62 gen3 with obviously very little research before buying, is that a 62cc saw or do I have something else? @@AlexanderTheGrateful I can only say that my sx62, which is an older model, is about 61.5cc close enough. Don't know about gen 3, if you can't find out, you would have to measure stroke & cylinder to work it out. Or find online calculator. Cheers.
@MrCanonballs
@MrCanonballs Жыл бұрын
Hey Anthony! you measured the diameter of the piston, NOT the "cylinder diameter"/bore. And I can tell you now bro, that the piston has substantially less diameter than the bore. Your displacement measurement is spurious... No wonder the seller has ignored you. Also mate, I dont know what website you bought your SX75 from, but the website I bought mine from clearly advertises the displacement at 62cc. Just because a Falcon 500 is called a Falcon 500 does not mean it has a 500 cubic inch engine LOL
@anthonysgarage5283
@anthonysgarage5283 Жыл бұрын
No, actually I measured from the cylinder to the opposite side of the piston, therefore, only didn't measure half of running clearance Secondly bro, if this was 62cc, with 35mm stroke, it would have to have a 47.5mm cylinder. No engine I have ever worked on had pistons 2.5mm smaller than cylinder, that would be pretty shit lol. Thirdly, when I purchased mine, it was advertised as 75cc. Yes Edisons ignored me at first, but when I took this matter & the sx92 matter to fair trading, Edisons were forced to change their advertising. Still not correct, but closer.. Perhaps you should do your own calculations, or use online calculator for yourself. I forgot. Falcons are shit. Lol.

I've got a first gen SX76, bought from AGR machinery (just Edisons with one of their MANY scam names that they have buried over the years). Had it for for a very long time, back before everyone knew what a pile of excrement Simon Mills is and his dangerous imported Chinese equipment that kills people. Ironically, I actually love the saw, more reliable and easier to start than my Stihl or my Husky, but out of the box, it never oiled, the plastic worm gear strips the teeth on the first pull, they sent me another one, same issue. one day I might try and match up an alloy worm gear from another saw that will fit, I am shocked how long they have been using the current name Edisons, and that they never dropped the baumr-ag brand. They don't even care, and that's why their equipment kills people, chainsaws are one of the "safest" things they sell... and they DO NOT meet the Australian safety standards. Incredible that the government allows this crap to happen for over a decade. Some of their hydraulic stuff, and tractor implements etc... are absolute suicide machines :(
