BYU fan here - your take on this game is perfectly reasonable. BYU would be extremely happy and somewhat fortunate to get a W against a team in Baylor that is every bit of a top 10 team. Defending Big12 champs and favorites to repeat, beating Ole Miss by 2 TD’s in the Sugar Bowl last year. But it is the home opener in Provo. Just ask Utah last year how tough that can be. Never know! Game of the week.

The way BU pushed BYU around on the line last season was a watershed moment for BYU and they spent the offseason to get ready for the next level conference jump next season. For me, a disinterested 3rd party, the level of improvement in BYU's D front is what I am interested in.

Two quick comments: First, no one from BYU will complain if you call the university Brigham Young. We use BYU simply because its shorter and easier on the tongue (for most of us). Second, there is a very good reason to NOT look in the rearview mirror in forecasting this game. At the beginning of last season, BYU's defense was dominant against Arizona, Utah, and ASU. But, by the time the Baylor game came around, BYU's defense had been decimated by injuries. BYU played Baylor with its 2nd, 3rd, and 4th team players. It simply wasn't the same defense that pushed around Utah's outstanding offensive line. Would the outcome had been different had BYU been healthy? Maybe not, but it would have been an entirely different kind of game. Baylor had a great o-line last year, but it wasn't THAT much better than Utah's. I still think Baylor will beat BYU on Saturday. I hope I'm wrong. There's a reason Baylor is ranked so much higher than BYU. The first team athletes are fairly comparable. BYU has a larger drop off when the second team players get into the game.

Josh, a few factors from a alum and BYU fan of 40+ years. Elevation-5,000 it hits defensive lines about 3rd quarter IF they are in shape. 2nd Quarter if they are not. Crowd Noise-Ask ASU who committed 10 motion/off sides penalties. When the school enclosed the 4 corners physics kicked in and the noise is unbelievable. Night Games-Visiting teams from Central or Eastern NEVER win the late night games in Provo i.e Texas, Ole Miss, UCF, Georgia Tech, Virginia etc... Offensive Line-Rated top 5 in country with 2 Pre-Season All Americans as best in school history. Jaron Hall-Numerous scouts have him as 3rd round NFL draft. Baylor's secondary-Consistent reviews them as weak and new. Albany scored both touchdowns on passes against Baylor. Against BYU's future NFL receivers and TEs, this could be a long night.

On another video you made you said byu was overrated when they started the year ar 25 or not even being rated in one poll . I understand predicting Baylor but byu is almost always underrated because they don’t get the top rated recruits and aren’t in a p5 conference . They finished ranked way more often than start out ranked. I predict this game to go down to the last few minutes

BYU is healthy and talented at home late. This all favors BYU who may have the best offence in college football. BU is also incredibly tough and talented. The team that makes the fewest mistakes and plays the best defence wins. Go Cougs.

Jaren Hall is going to be a problem for Baylor. 300+ throwing last year when he was injured and Baylor had a solid secondary. Baylor has a young secondary now and Hall is healthy. Expect 400+ throwing. While Baylor has improved in other areas, BYU has as well with a better O-line, D-line, and much better secondary. Going to be a great game.
