Ok, maybe this isn't the best TV show ever, but what i like about it, is that is so sunny and bright. Today everything is too dark, cynical, angry and violent.

You've got to love how Garner and Ryan's flashback is narrated by Mitch. 🤣
@Blisterdude1235 жыл бұрын
Simple, if goofy explanation for that. This is actually the pilot episode, but for whatever reason, it was bumped way back in the episode line up. The bits with Garner and Ryan at the start and end were shot later to bookend the pilot episode, to pretend like it's a flashback narrative. Hence why you have Mitch narrating in Garner's flashback.

This should have been episode 1 not 8 as Ryan doesn't know Mitch and Garner yet.

This was supposed to be either the first regular episode, or another pilot (after the pitch pilot/demo reel to get a deal/financing to make the show at all). I can't quite remember which. But the producers thought it was "too confusing", changed the episode order, made Hasselhoff record new voiceover narration, and added the opening and closing scenes with Williams and Harmon as a makeshift wraparound, to turn the whole thing into one long "hey, remember how we met..." flashback. This resulting mess right here was aired as episode eight, because they needed to use whatever material/footage they had to get to enough episodes for a full season, to fulfil their syndication deal. "Baywatch Nights" never had a regular initial broadcast deal with a network, it went directly into syndication. Yes, this actually is a professionally-made TV show, not a high school project gone off the rails that one of the parents took over on the last day to somehow save it - and messing it up even more. They also reused the pitch pilot for the show for the same reason, where Lisa Stahl was "Dana Hunter", not "Destiny Desimone" - and reworked it into the B plot for the third episode "Silent Witness". Hasselhoff even calls Stahl "Dana" in the teacup carrousel and waterslide chase scene, because they forgot - or didn't have time - to replace the dialogue to fit with Stahl's now-different character, the reused "Destiny" from regular "Baywatch". Whatever the writers had come up with early on that had been written for "Dana Hunter" originally for a second pilot or first season, was changed into material for Angie Harmon's "Ryan McBride". The decision to ditch "Dana" and go with "Ryan" was made at some point in time between the pitch pilot and the second pilot/original first episode of season one (that eventually became episode eight...are you confused yet?), when Hasselhoff "discovered" fashion model Angie Harmon on a flight and spontaneously offered her a role on "Baywatch Nights". Harmon turned him down because she had never acted before. The friend Harmon travelled with that day, went on an audition for "Nights" shortly after that and Hasselhoff remembered that she sat next to the model he wanted to talk into acting. He reconnected with Harmon through her friend, got her to sign up for "Nights", and the rest is television history. Awful, shameful, hilarious, ridiculous television history. "Baywatch Nights" became a laughing stock in the television industry for more reasons than just the abysmal second season as 99-cent-store "X-Files". Season one was a complete and utter dumpster fire that barely made sense, too.

It wasn't a bad show. The one thing that held it back was the "Baywatch" name. It should have been a stand alone.

Is this the first episode? I'm confused because it is written the 8th episode..
@jaybazzocchi213 жыл бұрын
It's the 8th and I was a bit confused too at the beginning, what's happening is a flashback.
@whoyoume12 жыл бұрын
Its a flashback
@BrianKitching-wv5nh3 ай бұрын
This should have been the pilot,but it became the 8th episode to air,so because of that they had to write a flashback sequence to make it seem like it was a dream.
