First transmitted in 1961, Martin Luther King talks about his childhood experiences and the incidents that led to the Montgomery bus boycott. These events shaped King's life and led to him becoming a national figurehead and civil rights leader.
He is questioned on whether he feels fear or loneliness in his position, as well as his own feelings on his adequacy as a leader of the civil rights movement in America.
The interviewer was the Late John Freeman.

2k GoDsZ I don’t think that’s entirely why ... think, it was a different time then, different standards, people were more mature, that can be seen through early marriage. The original commenter is not just talking about Martin’s speech here, it’s not just about him being in the media either, at this point Martin was already a pastor (he became an ordained minister at the age of 19) and already a loud voice in the local civil rights movement. He’s of a generation who lived through the war, they had no choice but to be more mature.

2k GoDsZ not talking about his way of speaking (I assume the original comment wasn’t just referring to the way he speaks) despite that, it’s obvious that even today we change our speech when we are talking formally, especially when trying to make a point about a serious issue. Everything about him is different than today’s 32 year olds.

Holy Dance I don’t “dig,” because if everyone on earth now was “created,” it logically follows that everyone who is oppressed was “created” to be oppressed, and everyone who is doing the oppressing was created to perpetuate that role. Nothing can improve, and we are all trapped in our current condition, good or bad, because God mandated it. If you don’t believe in evolution then you are essentially saying that the current human condition, including all of the suffering, is holy and good. I don’t believe that, and MLK clearly didn’t believe that.

Because modern schools are not designed to question injustice and seek answers to why things are the way they are. It is a prison system to drill kids with useless information at a dumbed down rate so that children remain children forever. They do not want to produce fine people as MLK or Malcom X. People like these are a threat to injustice.

We are all spiritual beings exactly the same. We have the power to do anything anyone else can do. 99% of the world were never taught who they are and their power. Which is why we hang on to the idea that we are human. But we are just having a human experience. You really can do anything anyone else can do in this world but 99% of the world doesn't know how to tap into that power. So you can agree but you may never know the strangest secret as some use to call it. A secret that isn't a secret at all but somehow remains practically hidden from everybody. If the whole world knew the secret and how to apply it willfully, we would not need to protest. The homeless man you see on the street has just arranged his mind, the same mind as you, differently than you. Same as the man on wall street. If he only knew his power and who he truly is... Ignorance is the only disease that man kind suffers from. The rest is man made...

Indeed, I am from Dominican Republic, born, raised and residing in, and also have English as a second language; frankly, this interview, as well as others with leaders such as Malcolm X, and Louis Farrakhan, is specially apt for the purpose of training the ear on comprehending well formulated and enunciated English, besides all the knowledge being offered by each one of these truly gifted leaders. The musicality in their voices and cadences is hard to match, one that creates a lulling effect that is irresistible to the senses. Peace to the Middle East.

GoProJoe the youth today are no more radical than MLK was in his day, "radical" is objective. MLK's views are now considered fairly socially conservative, economically of course he was no republican I believe he had socialist leanings as many black civil rights groups were and still allied with American communist groups, in a complicated political history (it is worth noting that American communism is idealogically different from other forms of foreign communism). MLK was called a terrorist, he was and still is a radical. The lefties who you are referring to are probably the people with the most understanding of MLK and his beliefs, which were complicated and full of naunce- he wasn't "pro this anti that" every belief he had was in understanding of the complicated political world he navigated.

Yes, he was! Of course, he felt a lot of pressure from many people, places, authorities, but he did not betrayed his Master and His Holy Spirit! History does not know many of fearless people of God who had leaved a long live and had passed away from their own motives! If someone will tell me about John, apostle of Lord, I will say: he leaved so long because he choose not to confront huge battles as Peter or Paul did. I did not say he had a weak spirit or was weaker than others! Not at all! But he choose other battles! I see, the one who follows the Lord and is dedicated for His mission will always suffer a lot from evil and will be taken away from this world! God knows better the time when each of us should be taken, because everything is under His control, but even He permits many things to happen - humanity has a responsibility for protection and caring such personalities as Dr. Luther!

What is impressive about MLK is how articulate speech with a full and varied vocabulary and the fluent and evenly paced style of speech with no" Umm" or "Ahh" pauses. He was clearly highly intelligent with a clear sense of what he believes in. He also made reference to developing self discipline at a young age and how this was instilled into him by his parents. He is also humble and sincere. A real inspiration to all people and especially to all black people as he is admired and respected by people of all races.Interviewer is also good in asking questions that are sometimes direct and could be seen as provocative but they serve to reveal his personality.
