If being gay is "normal" then why would those in support of gay rights deride someone who was a "hooker".We would be ready to put Marylin Monroe one of the worlds preeminent "hooker" on a stamp, Elvis Presely a "crack head" as the "greatest" something. Call William Shakespear with his dubious habits a "great" and yet chastise others for their liscenstious ways. Prentending that we are ourselves are highly favored since no one..at least that's what we think knows about the living and breathing skeletons in our closets..

Why do Hardtalk interviewers seem soul-less or a bit 'hard' if you will. They are not engaged with the human they are talking to. Its all about "gotcha" spirits, in their choice of word or attitude. pathetic actually. Oh Maya, Pardon me. RIP

I have seen similar negative opinions expressed about Tim Sebastian's style on the Nina Simone HARDtalk interview. I believe the style is misunderstood - the programme is called HARDtalk - the questions are relevant, well researched, and are intended to draw out the character of the interviewee. The programme is not an exercise in sycophancy.
@tonyausten2168
@tonyausten2168 4 жыл бұрын
@@edwardlever2462 nobody wants a sycophancy interview. You can extract information & character in a less hard way. For instance, use psychology, cajoling or superficial flattering that deceives the ego therefore, your subject relaxes and opens up. This confrontational style is unpleasant to the audience who feel offended such rude air invades his living room.
@edwardlever2462
@edwardlever2462 4 жыл бұрын
@@tonyausten2168 Maya Angelou was without doubt a highly intelligent and talented woman. I do not think she would respond well to superficial flattering or cajoling. She was far too smart for that. I do not see the style as confrontational. There seemed to be no rancour evident on either side during the interview. I do not know whether you are based in the USA or the UK. The HARDtalk programmes are a long running series produced for the UK audience. I do not think UK audiences find the style offensive. It is not intended to be a cosy chat show. Perhaps some audiences do not get that.
@tonyausten2168
@tonyausten2168 4 жыл бұрын
@@edwardlever2462 I am based in the US. My Geography does not impede my discernment. OF course, we can agree to disagree. The superficial flattery & cajoling is usually a tac tic used by famous Talk show hosts like Oprah or Dave Letterman, where Celebrities- Whom Maya is one by the way-- usually respond to flattery. Its all about courtesy tactics to make your guest relax & not be nervous. Hardtalk seem to relish to make their guests nervous or sweat. To push their guest off the edge, for what? Hoping or expecting a good Television reality show drama moment? Go count how many times guests walk out of a Hardtalk interviews. Its really dramatic, which is unnecessary. I am bothered by rudeness disguised in the veneer of 'Hardtalk reporting' Its a bit disingenuous.
@edwardlever2462
@edwardlever2462 4 жыл бұрын
@@tonyausten2168 I think we will have to agree to disagree. I cannot recall seeing an instance of a guest walking out of a HARDtalk interview, although a Google search revealed that someone did in 2009. As you have raised the matter, perhaps you would be kind enough to direct me to the countless other examples you say you have seen.
