Angus Sinclair, John Bercow's former private secretary, has accused the Speaker of bullying.
Mr Sinclair said the bullying included angry outbursts, obscene language and mimicry.
John Bercow denies the allegations.

A former submariner who feels he has to go onto the media and cry about the shouty, sweary little toad, aye 🙄 Politics can weaken and corrupt even the most experienced warriors, they belittle themselves by serving these MPs in the first place. He signed an NDA fs, he isnt the first veteran to work for a boss who feels threatened by their experience, knowledge and most likely here, how their collegues trust them or follow their advice. PTSD from working for Bercow? Whatever idiot claims this..... she needs to get a grip or a therapist. Definately a case of small man syndrome which happens everywhere, on every fucking ship! Imagine being paid a bung when you sign the OSA......everyone in the westminster machinery needs a reality check. Disgusts me that the people we've had in that place sent so many young people to war, people their grandkids age who had better values and standards and a religious commitment to "public service" and and loyalty. Such a pantomime.

This is a man who has faced danger in the service of the navy, and has held positions of great responsibility. He is totally believable. While bullying is intolerable and should be dealt with promptly, on the other hand one can only imagine the stresses of the office of Speaker. This does not mean behaviour alleged against him should be condoned, but perhaps there may be ways of reducing that stress for future incumbents of the office.

Remember when Sir Robert Rogers (now Baron Lisvane) had to "retire" early as clerk of the house in 2014. MPs reported, even then, bully-Bercow had forced him out with expletives. Kate Emms appeared in a documentary about the House of Commons. She bought chocolates for back benchers who were trying to craft private member's bills. If anyone had a problem with her, without question, it would have been their own fault.

Honestly this story stinks. WHy speak up now that Bercow could become a Lord?! Why didn't Sinclair break his non disclosure agreement before when, as he himself says, other people were suffering from the same circumstances and he could have avoided that pain??Never trust these people that suddenly and conveniently remember they were abused 10-20- 30 years prior. And then you dig a little bit and voila, you find out they got a big fat cheque along the line. Disgraceful - this is the world we live in.

You are kidding right? Watch Bercow talk to his parliamentary colleagues. His nasty, hateful, taunting insults to his fellow members was unprecedented. I can't imagine working for such a sociopath. I am amazed that people still defend him. A decade of chaos under Bercow's rule disgraced the House of Commons.

"Proven bully". Words that were interestingly never heard in the 20th century when there were standards in the world and people had to act like adults (something Bercow spent hours requesting that other adult children do), SUCK IT UP and deal with conflicting personalities. The softness of today is sickening. A man acts like a man and his whole life can now be ruined due to you fruits. Maybe you're intimidated by his bloodline? Right, maybe if folks like you stop eating so much wheat and soy and start eating eggs and meat you'd grow a pair and your member would dislodge from being stuck within. Because for one, none of you ever seem to speak with any eloquence or grace whatsoever, so your brain isn't all there. Bully? You've never seen a bully, pal. When you deal with a real "bully" (aka sociopath, narcissist) , you'll realize that half your problem is they expertly conceal their behavior behind professional excuses, "ethics" and "rules". And the other half is they are protected by their employer/locale (police, judges, etc.), so you'll NEVER get support from anyone when you complain about their behavior. You'll go insane if you haven't learned how to be your own man, yet.

Come on!!! Angus was in the Navy and was bullied. That doesn't fly (swim in this case). In the Navy, your superior owns you. You see that in Captain Bligh, the archetypal Tory. Note that all Tories are terrible bullies. The bottom line is that if a bully crosses the line (puts you in mortal danger, example, threatens to keelhaul or hang or flog you), it is YOU or HIM. Then, you must set out to DESTROY him. Best way is to hire a Private Investigator. Once you have the dirt on him, pass it anonymously to his enemies. Make sure the police are involved too. Sneak some dirt to the media.

@Open Paranormal one persons sensitivity being different to another's for political reasons that might have upended the changes that Bercow was trying to put through the house. Bullying can be at the whim of anyone to say to another that they are being picked on, but as this man was part of the Navy Im sure he was shouted out and heard expletives and did not think he was being bullied by his commanding officers.

Sorry Sir but you've encountered this sort of bullying in the service I'm sure and managed to deal with it assertively as taught to without the media, so are we supposed to feel sorry for yae for letting a wee toad treat you with such disrespect? Many veterans have come across such behaviour from bosses in civvy st who feel the need to dominate thinking that your military childhood means you are used to being shouted at or abused. If you keep your mouth shut to keep your position, and sign an NDA it says more about your command decision at the time than the wee man. I also wonder how much compensation your collegue has received having claimed PTSD for her experiences working in Westminster? Again, are we supposed to feel sorry for you? You serve MPs yet expect them to have the values and standards that we do? I thought leadership went beyond rank and included being the steady voice to step in when those with less experience make mistakes or adversely affect the welfare of your people?

Wow if only they acted then we might be out of the EU by now, ! How can one insignificant man hold so much power, has pretty much single handedly destroyed democracy in the UK sending UK politics in to melt down while doing so. Before remainers start, I voted remain, I also voted for democracy I was out voted by the leavers, I accept that vote and want to leave the EU ASAP, deal or no deal, believe me no deal is better than a bad deal, the EU are not going to give us anything other than a bad deal, it’s time to pull up our trousers, tighten our belts and get on with it, it’s time labour, Lib Dem’s and SNP accepted what the public want, to be honest give us another vote as many who I know voted remain now wish to leave just because of what has happened in the House of Commons. It’s all one big joke all the people holding the process up are crippling the UK far more than any no deal exit.

Sounds to me like this guy was incompetent and was jeopordising bercows ability to do his job. He was on the receiving end of angry frustration because he was not fulfilling the requirements of the role he was tasked to do and as a result the knock on effect is the speaker then has his abilities to carry out his duties diminished and his own reputation and integrity bought into question. In short. He wasn't up to it. He shouldve resigned. Not waited to get wait untill he got pushed out. taking 80k as a sweetener to smooth it over Is questionable , but to then go crying to the press about bullying, well, he should have some self respect to be honest.

I think it's clear that if you go back and look at Bercow's reputation in the 1990s, and then add on stories like this to what you saw in the House of Commons when he was speaker, he definitely had a nasty side to his personality..........he got a lot of good press for taking on the Tories and appearing fair as Speaker, but there was a nastier side to him as well.

This mirrors what Blackrod General Lt Leakey said about Bercow. You only have to see how Bercow treated MPs during debates to realise this is most likely an accurate portrayal of Bercow. Thank God he didn’t get a peerage.

RN personnel are usually quite robust individuals. Having served in submarines throughout his career and for the complete term, it would be surprising if he was not telling the truth. Bercow is clearly a robust individual, demonstrates political bias and lacks neutrality. We have seen a disrespect towards people like Trump shows strong leanings towards the left. Regrettably he does not show the qualities that you would expect from his position. The Civil Service and politicians have a culture of bullying. I rather suspect that this man is telling the truth. The fact that other members of Bercows team have had problems rather supports his statements.
