In HardTalk, the interviewee does not have to feel offended when interupted by Stephen, sometimes it means "I see", but he could not make any endorsement on your views on TV, so he skip this question and approch for more important questions. But if he keeps asking one topic, that is definitly not a good signal, he and the audience won't buy that answer. Am I right about his subtext?

@@qsh7012 对于避重就轻，不正面回答，绕圈子讲立场的受访者，打断他也太正常了吧。而且这不是个辩论节目，against受访者的观点不是主持人的任务。他的任务是把list上准备好的问题都问掉，当面对这么一个瞎几把扯就是不回答问题的受访者，打断他，赶紧下一题，不浪费大家时间，不就应该这样吗。你看过hard talk 别的访问吗，受访者在一个问题上说偏了就是会被打断的。而且你不也是在预设立场吗，你有啥好质疑新闻言论自由的，人家能访问你，让你一个和他们立场不同的人在新闻上说话，这已经是绝对的言论自由了，相比于美国早年的麦卡锡主义时期好太多了。何以看得出断章取义？是截视频了还是消音了，还是改字幕了？你把中共宣传办和广电审查部的那一套拿来比较，是怎么能看出来断章取义的？？？

@@ethanyang4158 这打断别人的方式，不礼貌到这种地步，真想抽他一耳光。这主持就是在别人解释完成的预兆就开始打断，然后不停地换话题，这条抓不到把柄换那条，就像一个机器一样不停地试错，完全没有采访者该有的礼貌，是真占理才不会被这主持人套话。跟之前那个嫖娼的黄尸被德国主持人问是不是间谍问到无话可说的那个视频形成鲜明对比。

Dddd Tong How would you know people avoid answering the question without even given a chance to complete the explanation? That was judgemental and unfair. Even the person was not answering the question, the interviewer could clarify and question further, not keep interrupting. There are many other tactic to drill more information from the guest, obviously interrupting is a low and unprofessional one.

@@siongtzer look mate, I get it it is HARD TALK, not sure what is your definition to have a HARD TALK, to me, HARD TALK should be - the host raises some sharp and hard question for his guest, and let them explain or express his/her opinion properly. But in this video, it is obvious that the program host has raised lots of questions but not give enough time for the guest to reply, also keep talking when the guest tries to explain or answer his question, and before the guest has replied to all his questions, he has through another question at the guest. This host is either lack of manner or he has a predetermined position when it is about China. Not sure about you mate, but I won't call this program HARD TALK, it should have a new name HARD CRITSIM, by the way, he does not need any guest, he will be fine just by himself since he likes to give a long speech.

This host keeps interrupting the guest! I feel he is questioning the guest like an accused instead of interviewing. He just believes what he wants to beliebe or what he has been told what he has to believe! The media is always publishing what they want you to see! I advise you have your own judgement after scrutinizing from both China's and Western's perspectives.

The BBC anchor shot so many accusations against China, but when it's turn for the Chinese ambassador to talk, he kept interrupting and switching subjects, to left little room for the Chinese ambassador to rebunk those false accusations. Seriously, before the ambassador had a chance to explain, he either interrupted or move to another accusation. It was not an interview, it was a judgement.

Honestly, that's fine since he did the same thing to all his guests, it's is a common interviewing technique in the media system. But I see the ambassador definitely has higher tactics and wisdom beyond him, the ambassador safely passed all his traps. Comparing with the Interview of Anson Chan, he shows the truth of current China and HK.
