Really glad to see a review of this from a creator I trust. I've been eyeing one of these for a while, currently just running octoprint on an old phone for a controller, but this looks like a much simpler set up. Thanks for this video!

I just ended up using one of those Belkin security cameras at Target. I check up on my 3D printer when I'm in bed from time to time. It would be awesome if the camera can detect a malfunction and pause or stop the printer from continuing, and send a notification.

I bought one of these turned out to be faulty. The customer support was very helpful and are in the process of getting me a replacement. So far not so good but I think it is just a problem only I had.

I bought this camera based on your video so first off, thank you. We have also covered it multiple times on our podcast. One thing I'm still trying to learn though is this, Can you connect the camera directly to Ultimaker Cura in the same way you could Octoprint? I would love to be able to slice, printer and monitor all within the same piece of software.

@@RickyImpey thanks for your response. Funny because that's the only thing I'm actually interested in knowing when one has a reliable & repeatable print cycle for batches of parts. Expecially as 'time remaining' on my ender S1 is ridiculously inaccurate. P.s. really liked your filament drying box and will be making one to your design. Great job ...

Hi Rciky, in your video at 3:35 I was able to use the QR code from your video to get the App from App store :) Quite funny I think, since I watch your video on my computer, and used my phone to get the App. :)

I've had mine for couple months and use to watch prints, but I'm not clear on how to use laptop to connect to download files that way versus using the SD card. Laptop i have my son stripped windows and has Linux. Not clear on how to do this. thank you

You need to find the camera's ip address in the settings on the app. Then type this into the search bar on a web browser on another machine on the same network.

@@RickyImpey thank you for the response. I should have tried harder before sent the question and wasted your time. I did figure it out. Now just have to be careful to chose the right printer I’m connecting to until I get the z offset issue fixed on Ender 3 pro. Which seems to vary from SD card to when I send on Beagle. I used your recommended M420 code line I saw in another one of your videos and worked well on the new ender 3S1 Pro. What a step change in ease of operation from the 3Pro. Thank you again for your many informative videos !

I watched your video and it was helpful. I just set mine up and have a couple of questions. Did you notice that the printer doesn't stop printing once the print is done or is that just mine? Also there's no way to adjust the speed of the printer from the app or the browser.

Hi, mine stops printing when the print is complete but it doesn't switch the printer off if that's what you mean. I don't believe there is a way to change the print speed while the print is running through the Beagle app or a browser though no.

I use mine daily. It's very simple to setup but it's more limited on what you can do compared to something running Octoprint. It all depends on whether you want to spend time learning how to setup a raspberry pi (if you can even buy one) or if you'd rather have a plug and play option like this.

Hi - Great vids Ricky. Just wondering - would this be overkill for plugging into a Sonic Pad - seems a simpler (cheaper) camera would do just as well once you already have a Sonic Pad?

Oh yes, you don't need both. I don't even know if the beagle camera works with the Sonic Pad. Grab a cheaper camera that is listed by Creality as compatible. I use a Logitech C270 with a Sonic Pad as it has manual focus and is plug and play.

This was very helpful I’m just a little confused on one thing. When you’re away from home can you still control things through the app or do you have to be home for it to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network?

Yes, unfortunately you have to be on the same WiFi network so within a short distance really. There is a way to send the feed through your home router so that it can be viewed from outside your home network but it's not safe to do it without really knowing what you are doing. If I can work out a safe way to do it I will share with the group 👍

I think it very much depends on your printer, filament and temps etc. Settings that work for me won't work for everyone. Have you tried the new 'normal' time lapse mode? The nozzle stays over the print and you are much less likely to get stringing.

Hi Ricky. Thank you so much for your informative videos. I'm new to 3 d printing and you are a BIG help. I've purchased the mintion camera and it connects to the wifi seamlessly and the red light is on indicating it is connected to the printer yet I am unable to control the printer with the app. Do you have a clue what's happening?

Is your printer plugged in, switched on, connected to the beagle and selected in the app? I believe there are some other settings like baud rate that can be changed if everything is connected correctly but still not connecting. What printer do you have?

Mainly just looking for a way to easily load g-code from my laptop w/o having to use the SD cards & to check up on the prints, can I use it for that w/o having the time lapse turned on?

Yes you can, it's perfect for this and it's how I use it most of the time. There are currently 3 options within the timelapse settings, 'Clean', 'Normal' and 'Off'.
