BeamNG.Drive // how to make roads & Decals // UK country style
been making maps for a little bit now and still got loads to learn but thought I would start to make little tutorial videos on what I know so far and how I go about doing them. Showing you all my little trick and tips to help make your life easier when you want to make your own maps. My map is base in the uk as beamng.drive is lacking a very good big uk map

Yep been working on it some time now, can be hard to find time to work on it but slowly getting there. I needed some where to test my cars.

you make it road UK, i turning on traffic cars can driving on road?

yes, all the cars will be driving on the left :) it is one of the main reason I am making this map. roundabouts are a little hard though as some times the cars like to stop on them. I will work it out though... I hope.

Do you know how to make a road reflective?

I think I did it once, can't remember of the top of my head. you can also make it rain and have the road act like it is wet

You have to update the material to 1.5 pbr, then add a roughness map. The higher the value, the more reflective it will be

How to update the material of the road though? There's nothing in the Inspector@@betoniera

@@crashium if you made It with a decal like in the video, you have to open the material window in the editor, and search the material you see in the inspector when you click the decal road. Then you can update to pbr and add a roughness map

yes I can show you how I am doing it, but I am doing it different from the normal way cause I am doing left hand traffic

I am doing a new set of tutorials on starting a map from scratch. it will have a video on making your own roads and importing them and then using them.

@@manicgamingguy6161 Just discovered your chanel, and i'm just starting now using the world editor so i'm scratching my head a little bit lol..! So yeah i'll try to find a way to import decals I guess

aww well you have a lot to learn but it is all fun along the way. start simple though cause it can be easy to mess up stuff along the way. spealer is a good content maker for map making I sub to some one called terry who does some crazy stuff in beamng. I am going to try and make a simple and clean tutorial for basic to get people into it.

@@manicgamingguy6161 yeah...and thanks to the answer of an ignorant question and i see that but i dont know how to make mine look like that. how did you get all those options open?

the person I started to learn from was @Spealer ,. He shows you how to make your own map from start to finish. But i do think it has been made a bit easier now to get the template map. for now though. on any map you can push F11 and that will open up the map editor. and then you will be able to see all the options :) no downloading or any thing,. if you have beamng you will have map editor

how did you added grass?

I am not sure how far you will have it, but I use the paint brush tool to paint the grass on,. you can also edit what kind of grass you have but that depends on what you gave your self when you set the map up. if you ware working with a custom map. give me some more detail and I will try and see what I can do for you mate

I have a question, why are the roads so wide? uk roads are known to be narrow yet you make the wide, having narrow roads to drive on is fun, but guess you don't care

I do have tighter roads, I have a big mix of roads in this map,. if this is the only video you have seen of it I recommend seeing some more of it. but some more tighter roads wouldn't hurt
