@@deusexmachina9776Lmao I would say Leylah didn’t play her best. She could have took it in two but her tenacity got her through it! Maia didn’t make many unforced errors and had so many big groundstrokes yet Leylah won. This is reminiscent of 2021 Leylah and I sure hope she wins the whole thing or the US open!

She finally addressed her issues with court positioning (and adjustments). She was so set on camping right on the baseline ALL THE TIME just for the sake of trying to take every ball so early regardless if she's in an offensive or defensive position. Now it seems like she adjusts more appropriately for each shot and improves both of offense and defense.. hoping she keeps this up.

This is the kind of game,Leyla must play.Fearless,agressive,Uses a lot of dropshots,one of Leylas assets.Being consistent is not enough at this level.

Acho que Bia chegou no seu auge com o top 10, não passa disso, está lenta, ruim nas subidas de rede. Talvez mudar o técnico para voltar ao top10, mas não vejo Bia ganhando wta1000 ou Grand slam 😢😢😢. Tomara que eu esteja errada

That was what i am talking about.. leylah did a lot of improvements in as far as being more agressive on court.. her services are very good if not the best i have seen from her.. please do focus more in every game to any opponents you may face.. this is the time to be noticed and feared by other players ... best of luck leylah.. stay safe please? What a redoubtable encounter between Fernandez and Haddad Maia. It always made me a marvellous impression in order to watch the quality rallies on the court. Beatriz Haddad Maia really played impressive against Fernandez and compelling her capacity on the pitch. However, it wasn't adequate to dispatch Canadian competitor. Especially, the efficiency and mobility of Leylah Fernandez keep evolving in each passing phase. I am confident that Leylah will keep making the substantial progresses during this period in order to reach the pinnacle in the upcoming seasons.

bia was out of the circuit since she withdraw in the 4th round of wimbledon. Plus: its not easy to face Leylah, her crowd (which participated like it was a Fed Cup match), her missed toss in key moments...

she has always just outside the Top 10 for a long time usually hovering around 12 - 13 and briefly was 10 for about one week but I can see why that is. I think this is the highest level BHM will achieve

Beatriz and Vika are my fav players. Kaia kanepi too. But I love watching leylah too because she is interesting and unpredictable on court. I simply enjoy watching lefties. Leylah's outfit suits her. It's fitting and it's always nice to see happy colours. Beatriz is among the tallest on the WTA tour but her serve and shots are surprisingly weak. Vika has a much more powerful serve and precise shots. They didn't come together for doubles this time.

Leylah Fernandez é finalista de slam, não se esqueça disso - e em menos de um ano ela praticamente tinha o mesmo ranking que a Bia tem hoje. A própria mídia especializada, após esse jogo, comentou que essa foi a melhor performance da canadense desde aquele US Open. A Bia jogou o seu melhor? Não. Mas o jogo dela foi minado porque Leylah DEFENDEU TUDO, isso tira a confiança de qualquer tenista. Essa partida, inclusive, me lembrou a que Bia fez com Anhelina Kalinina, na qual a ucraniana chegava em TODAS as bolas

@@elbrabo2978 Fora que a Fernandez é bem nova, se ajustar o seu jogo volta facilmente as quinze melhores da WTA. Ela, Gauff, Qinwen Zheng, Mirra Andreeva, Korneeva... tem muitas tenistas com grande margem de evolução, e as cartas do tênis feminino são trocadas muito mais rápido que no masculino - tenistas como Bia, Sakkari, Garcia terão que lutar MUITO pra permanecer entre as melhores 🎾😬

Leylah has no fire power in her game. The way she lagged on closing out the first set despite being well ahead of Mia, I was surprised she won the match. Also good use of her drop shot, wish Gauff knew how to do drop shots like this. But the last point of the match when she hit that 40-0, the crowd absolutely gave her the strength to finish strong.
