As always, thank you for a great tutorials! I love the bumped out, embossed look of this stitch… and, of course, the fact that it doesn’t curl! ❤😊

My way is simpler. First row Purl. Next row Purl. Then knit in pattern. The 2 Purl rows disappear.

Thank you for sharing your preferred method with us, Gale. Making one garter ridge at the cast on edge is a great way to tame stockinette curl. The method explained in this video tutorial is more powerful at keeping stockinette from curling and it does not disrupt the sleek pattern of the stockinette stitch. Otherwise, both ways are great to use. Happy knitting :-)

I absolutely love this look. I am curious though about curling width wise. I use my bond knitting machine (the bed type) to do bigger stockinette pieces, but it curls along the width. Does this help with that at all? I feel like there might be a way to do a tuck on the machine at the third row, but not sure if it would solve my problem.

Tucks give the knitted fabric more structure. It is enough to keep the side edges of stockinette stitch from curling in the area where you make a tuck. If you want to tame the curl along the whole length of fabric, you will need to add tucks every few inches. It might not be a good solution for projects with drape, so a lot depends on the type of project you are making.
