@NeroTheBoop9 ай бұрын

@NeroTheBoop8 ай бұрын

For real, Italians like this who praise the food are just annoying af. Can't really say anything about fashion but we have Ferrari, Ducati, Pagani, Lamborghini and so many other motor brands. We're also the reason why English has so many non-Germanic words. Breaking the pasta really isn't that deep and I know many who do it. Even not knowing where Italy is really isn't that deep. Half of all Italians probably wouldn't even know where South Korea is. I literally had a classmate thinking Malta was an island in the middle of the Atlantic and another one thinking it was a Greek island when it's literally 100km from our shores. If Italians can't plot neighbouring countries, you can't expect them to know those in Asia. So, him getting offended by them not knowing a country that's virtually irrelevant to East Asians just makes him look a bit salty. My guy could have shared information about our history, our Geography, our industry and so forth and yet he decided to explain to them why breaking the pasta is bad. Could have had a much better representative tbh

to tell the truth here in Italy we don't use at all a spoon to help ourselves while spinning a portion of spaghetti with a fork, that's what a foreigner usually does and, tbh, when we see that thing happening we consider it a bad eating behavior even if not an unforgivable one. I found quite weird that Marcello actually suggested we do it while close to none here in Italy uses a spoon, because we just spin the portion by helping ourselves with the plate surface directly, never with a spoon (that behavior is so out of ordinary that most of the times if you go to a restaurant here in Italy and you order a dish of any kind of pasta with the shape of strings like spaghetti, linguine or tagliatelle the waiter doesn't even put on the table at all a spoon unless you also order a dish that requires it, like a soup or a creamy dessert).

As an Italian, I have to say that Italians are absolutely mental when it comes to food and it's really weird tbh. My guy didn't even know what kimchi was and compared breaking it to breaking pasta. One can barely fit in a pot to be cooked and the other is a slippery plate of vegetables that's supposed to be eaten with chopsticks. I don't break my pasta because I like it long but there's literally nothing wrong with breaking it. It's just that Italians like to be dramatic for no reason at all. Another thing is they go nuts when someone uses chopsticks for Italian food. Forks are a utensil that's used by dozens of countries and nothing more. Chopsticks are not suddenly gonna change the texture of the pasta. Also, tomatoes come from America and pizza is only about 150 years old. Traditional pizza is just a few random combinations some guys made until everyone decided to turn it into a religion. If cooks hadn't experimented with different flavours, we wouldn't have pizza in the first place. There's nothing wrong with pineapple pizza and I don't even like pineapple all that much lol. I love cooking and I make focaccia constantly so I know much more about cooking than the average Italian. Trust me, Italians are just dramatic when it comes to food and suffer from a severe superiority complex. Edit: another thing I should mention is spaghetti all'assassina is a typical dish from my home region of Apulia where the spaghetti are cooked directly in the tomato sauce instead of being boiled. If an American had invented that recipe, Italians would be mad af but because it's Apulian, it's "AuThEnTIc".

One of the main reason we hate when someone breaks spaghetti is that we really care about how a particular food is supposed to be cooked and eaten. As an example... we cook noodles, ramen, kimchi (asian food in general) as close as possible to the original recipe and eat them with chopsticks. We usually prefere to totally avoid a food if we dont like the taste instead of changing and adapting it with our common ingredients. We try to convince foreigners to eat italian food like we invented it and with the correct kitchen tools. So .. you dont have to break or cut spaghetti in half and you have to use a fork to eat them.

also because like, if you dont like long pasta or dont have a pot big enough, short pasta exists!

Thats bs considering a lot of Asian food such as Indian, Chinese, Thai and even Korean food is changed to suit local tastes. Like American or British Chinese food is not the same as authentic yet people aren’t as offended. I think Italian people have a superiority complex over their food.

@@JayZingerthat's not superiority complex... It's that italian food Is objectively the best in the world... Other food abroad Is slightly modified, our food Is ruined in all the way they can and still considered one of the best in the world.... Foreign people when they come to Italy they get at least 10kg because they eat like if they didn't in a week...

@@moulagang7649 “objectively the best in the world” almost all of asian food and mexican food beats Italian food in terms of flavours and textures, so yeah people like you definitely have a superiority complex 🤣

@@doyouwantsometae4177the Austrian version (kipferl) has nowhere near the amount of butter that croissant has. And it changes the taste significantly. So I would consider croissant as a French food, with inspiration from kipferl

@stanleymaximillian8403 said like this, you're right, but I just noticed that in France, we're always saying that some food is our without even knowing where it really comes from, and I find it sad for theses countries
