It's funny a lot of people suggest a lot of storys the book could be. Probably because they all have the 3 act structure. So it can be what ever story you want it to be. I also think You're right about Oliver and Company, a few people mentioned that, and that makes more sense then lady and the tramp. To be fair, if you think about it, a lot of shows and movies are the same but with changed characters and slight differences. Take the general fighting anime, there's the young rebellious guy and his group of friends, the girl he has a crush on, and the girl he has a crush on's crush who also happens to very much (usually**edit) hate the main character, young rebellious guy. Sorrynotsorry.

Many fans pointed out that the line "Ten years we've been rusting" in the song "Be Our Guest" told us that the prince/king was 10 years old when the castle was cursed by a sorceress, so when they did the live-action remake, the line "Ten years" was changed to "Too long we've been rusting" to clear up that plot hole about how old the prince/king was when the castle was cursed.

I think it is actually one of the most important songs as far as telling the story. It helps further showcase Belle and Beast's interactions as well as reminding us that all these 'everyday objects' were once human. The fact that it was scrapped in the first place is a shame because it adds more to the story than it takes away and they found a way to seemlessly slip it in between Something There and The Bath Scene in a splendid way. Say what you will about 'added or changed' scenes in Disney movies, this one belongs right where it ended up in the DVD releases ^-^

The French version of Aladdin was in the same book as Arabian Nights, which includes scenes where real princes disguise themselves as other people.

That's interesting. The book, of course, clearly foreshadows the action in this film, which makes it even more charming that the book is her favorite. Naturally she would enjoy living out the story from her favorite book!

a lot of people have commented this. SB has the spells and far off places, but the only sword fight I can remember is when the prince was trying to fight Maleficent and I don't think he was ever in disguise. I might be wrong though, cause I didn't care much for that movie. The similarities he drew between Belle's story and the book though are just as plausible, I always thought it was just a standard fairytale that simply bore a resemblance to Belle's story. Although, now that i think about it, the book is like Cinderella, the ones where she meets the prince before she knows he's the prince.

The book totally was Sleeping Beauty. There's a sword fight and magic spells and in the Disney version when Aurora first meets the Prince Phillip she doesn't know that he is a prince.

It is! If you go to Disney World, the Belle's Enchanted Tales part has Belle reading stories with the help of the audiences members. While going through the house at the beginning, the employee asks what Belle's favorite story is and Sleeping Beauty is the answer. The exhibit also features Belle and her mother reading the book together in a photo when Belle was younger. They have a large leather version of Sleeping Beauty in a glass case near the photo.

The "Human Again" scene WAS originally scrapped from the film, but they kept the song and used it when Beauty and the Beast went to Broadway. It proved to be so popular on stage that they went back and re-animated the scene, and put it in as an alternate version on the dvd release.

@@misshollis7547 I think Lumiere was in charge of the candles/lights around the castle, making sure that the castle was always well lit. As for Cogsworth, he would have been in charge of organizing the other servants, making sure everything was done on time (I can also see him as someone who'd be constantly checking the time and freaking out whenever they were behind schedule)
