They're hard to adjust for pan tension and pan height plainsman. That's the biggest draw back to them.

If you're holding them alive for that long I would target a back foot myself. I've held them fine by the front feet until oh say 3-4 in the afternoon and got away with it. As for the #3 bridger on back feet they work fine. Are there better choices? Absolutely. But they will catch and hold just fine. If I personally were to think about investing 8n back foot only traps the only 1s I'd even consider are the bridger 5 longs or coils ( I prefer the longs just cuz they're easier to set for myself ). Or the Duke #5 long or the TS85s. I do not care personally for the MB750s at all. Way too strong in my opinion. Jaws are too low profile to suit me. And the pan has a 50% dead spot. I've not used the Dule 850 yet. If I was to use it I believe you could take the front coils off and still be plenty strong to hold beaver just fine

The T85s are fine. Im a huge fan of Bridger 3s on front feet. And no drowning. I do this for 2 reasons really. 1 it allowse to release nontarget catches like otter. #2. Folks tell me it can't be done effectively. I lose 1 out of every 100 beaver to wring off. I can live with those odds

It's not that I don't like dogless traps. I love the old Montgomery dogless. And I like the No B.S. I just dont like the Bridger or the Duke dogless James. 1st off there's not enough space between the bottom of the pan and the top of the frame. The pan bottoms out alot of times and the traps won't fire. Then if you adjust it so it will fire, the pan sets way to high. Even bu laminating the jaws on the Bridger they are still too sharp and cause alot of paw damage.

Its been my experience Stephen that if you get 1 chewed up its generally an old dominate buck beaver doing it. Eliminate it and the problem stops.

@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 no way I take them down and their dead. You've got them on a ten foot lead running and splashing around. That's nuts!!! My beaver steps in the trap goes down the road and is dead in just a few and out of sight. You put a beaver splashing all over heck and the rest will den up.

They pay less attention to a live beaver on the bank than they do a dead 1 at the end of a slide rod or in a 330 I promise you that. But to each their own. You trap them your way I'll trap them mine.
