Well that sure opened up the door for some future sets. I've got a few months to get it together on the setting of snares. Where I'm at its the square shape of the connibear that tips them off I'm pretty sure of that. But those were some really nice sets you demonstrated. The arsenal of sets you've got stored away for different species is truly amazing. A true testament of your desire of the outdoors and your willingness to share those with others is very Honorable!!! THANK YOU DALE, I definitely appreciate it Sir!!!!! Curt

Again Dale THANKS for putting this video out after we talked about trap smart Beavers. I have probably watched this video 10 to 12 times soaking in all the info you put out and it has worked like a charm. So far I've taken 7 of them using your techniques early in the season. They started getting really leary so I pulled out of there with a ton of season left. Figured I'd come back this Spring again to pull some more of them. Well went down there yesterday and discovered a guy trapping. Confronted him "not aggressively " and got his name and went to the landowners house to see if had given him permission to trap like he said. Landowner said he told him no I was trapping it and expected the guy wouldn't trap. I told him he was trapping and th e landowner jumped in his trk and hauled butt to the area. The guy was gone which I figured as much but I did get some info out of the Trapper. He'd been trapping 9 days and had 3 misses with toenails or hair. Then they left he said. They did that to me a long time ago also. But they moved 4 dams down to different bank dens back then and did the same thing again. But I'm thinking it would probably be a waste of time now to go back in before end of season to trap. Was just wondering what your thoughts would be on it Dale? With all your experience I figured you have had a similar experience before. THANKS Buddy

Nice video 🤘 i love the new snare set ideas. I like to get a snare on what i believe to be the best spot so all the surrounding sets are waiting when that first beaver is splashing around in a snare in the hot spot. Another thing ive found that works good for trap shy beaver is the pine oil that you cant get for a bowhunters cover scent. Its purely a food lure that can spike interest in the laziest of beaver.

Good info. I use all 3 type of traps. what ever the area calls for. Yes you gave me some ideas on some places to set and also help on the use of snares in the water. I seen that below the spill way of the dam that you have a channel that you can put a 330 and get those smart ones at that you would get above the dam. Yes I got some smart ones that was trap shy. There is always a way to get them and need to think outside the box of what you would normal do . That is how I would get them , The pole set with the snare on it , remind me for how I trap beaver under water, it is a deadly set. Thanks for shear how you do it and clear up for me on set snares in water . The shortest time it took me to take out all 6 beavers out of area is about 15 hours, Set the traps in the afternoon and the next morning I had them all. I was thinking there was more but none I got them all. I know it is easy to trap 5 to 6 beavers then the only 1 that been smart up one way or another .

That's so crazy. I have never been a 330 fan myself and I believe I only have 3 of them as well, I do like using them on a castor mound set and that's about it. Snares, in my opinion are easier to travel with, easier to set in deeper water, and ya can set more than one on a single pole. Just all around more efficient in my opinion AND no worries if getting bit by that 330, cause if ya do, ya got some problems. Always carry a rope with a loop on it to slip on your foot and run it threw your levers 2xs to get that thing off. Very good trick just in case ya get nipped because it does happen

Since you keep all animals alive do you ever get bit I would like to go out and trap but being in a wheelchair I have gotten stuck big time and at this point, in time I am on hospice care. At any rate, have you ever been bitten by a beaver? What would you do to not get stuck in a wheelchair while in a wheelchair and want to go trapping? What wheelchair would you get? Sincerely! R.S.V.

Now that's 4 out of the good Lord only knows how many. So it's very rare is what I'm getting at. As for a wheelchair recommendation?? I have a friend of mine in North Iowa that has spinabifida that traps. I will contact him tomorrow and ask him what chair he uses? And I will get back with you here tomorrow. At least with coyotes you can always up the enticement factor to make them overcome their fear, beaver don't care...there's nothing you can offer a wise beaver that'll force a response, aside from a blind set snare or foothold

I've set two 330, 1 foothold drowning set and 6 snares in my pond and...nothing at all for couple of weeks. They are apparently trap shy/trap wise ones and avoid all my traps. Conibears are set in bank runs, snares on trails, slides and... no catch so far. What should I do? I had trapped one beaver back in the summer in 330 placed under a wire fence, but i checked it after couple of weeks. His ralatives probably have learned to avoid conibers, but they also avoid snares, set for the first time. I'm in despair, these pests ruined my pond, dug dozens of holes in pond dams, drained majority of water, all terrain around is demolished, lot of trees downed. Fishes probably will not survive this winter as a result of "activity" of these nuisance rodents. How to get rid of them?
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531

Are you absolutely sure they are still there? Are you seeing fresh activities? Are you finding fresh chewing on the trees?
@TheStonedstone

@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 They are still there for sure. 2 days ago I've noticed two oaks cut down. Week ago they were intact. One of these oaks is almost chewed and all brenches cut out. There are fresh traces of beavers, leading from these oaks to the pond. I've set two snares on this trail. One on slide to the water and another 1 yard from fallen oak. checked them yesterday. Beavers ceased to used this trail and abandoned fallen trees. I've set one more snare underwater in a bank run I've just discoverd . In the meantime two otters were cought, one in snare, one in 330, instead of beavers
