Speaking about fears is never easy. I really appreciate that. Keep on the amazing work!

Great video Christian and thank you for letting me be part of it. You had some really good insights into dealing with and using that fear to create better photos. I would have been very scared in that Dolomites climb myself. I’m so grateful we don’t have bears in Australia to deal when out hiking… but then again we do have some of the deadliest snakes and spiders in the world to take their place. Have an awesome 2024 my friend cheers 🍻 🙏📸

Hi Adrian, thanks a lot for your clip, buddy! Honestly, we don't have all too many bears here in our area. They got more over the past 2 years, but anyway not all too much. It is really just a head thing. But yes, I've heard about spiders, snakes, and crocodiles in your area, where I'm just happy that I don't have to deal with them here in my area, haha 😆 But the wildlife in Australia in general is mindblowing. When I just think about all the birds in your garden with their amazing colours. Crazy 😊 Thanks a lot for your kind comments all the time. Happy New Year, Christian

I take my best photos when I´m depressed. Not fond of hights and thunderstorms. But no problem with wild life.Don´t put yourself between the mother and children, cubs. Do not suprice the wildlife. You need to asume that you can be hurt so you need a real first aid with joint support. Take a good knife with you. I use the Fällkniven Military knife A1.

Hi Thomas, that's interesting. The photographer's emotions have indeed a huge impact on his photography. And sometimes negative emotions can indeed lead to a masterpiece, but for me these are just exceptions, to be honest. I prefer to feel as comfortable as possible to get reasonable photographs. But I guess that works differently for everyone 🙂 A first aid kit is a fantastic tip! Thank you for adding that here. The chance for getting injured is real. So, it's good to be prepared. Thanks a lot for all your kind comments all the time, Thomas. Happy New Year, Christian

One has to be careful about "overcoming some fears". I was in a national preserve in New Mexico. One could climb up to the Anasazi ruins. There were very step 90 degree climbs up the canyon walls at time. My wife and young son had no problems and climbed up. I knew that I needed to stay below. Generally coming down in such circumstances. Another visitor was convinced by here family to climb up. The rescue squad had to bring her down (and she didn't even make it all the way up). Yes, the preserve had a special crew who dealt with such problems. When dealing with fears one has to know ones limits. I knew but the other person let others convince her that she could overcome the fear. The funny thing is that I'm a private pilot. I have flown many times at 8000 ft in a tiny 1 engine airplane. I had no fear of that height. The illusion in the plane of security overcomes that fear (not unlike your bear spray technique). The thing that I have always tried to do is not transmit those fears to my sons who are fearless. I remain restricted when dealing with landscape photography. It is funny in other ways as my mother and father were mountain climbers who met in the 1940s climbing in the Dolomite. I have never overcome my height fears they just get worse as I age.

Hi Erich, oh man, what an exciting story. Yes, absolutely: we should know our limits so that we don't bring outselves into situations that are too dangerous, in the end. When I was talking about overcoming fears, I meant more the non fundamental fears, such as fearing the dark. Fearing heights has a good reason and can prevent us falling down a mountain. Thanks a lot for your contribution my friend and thank you so much for all your kind comments all the time 😊 Happy New Year, Christian

Thanks for the video, it’s interesting to have a look at some if the things that are not directly related to photography but nevertheless can have a big impact. Best wishes for 2024 and I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the year ahead.

Hi @EM-nv2ep, thanks a lot, my friend 😊 I think, there are in general a lot of things that are not photogaphy related, but they have anyway a big impact on our photography. Makes indeed sense to engage with them. Happy New Year, Christian

Hi Christian, happy new year. Thank's to one more year of knowledge shared. And I notice the photography hikes are making you loose weight, congratulations. I will do the same 😂😂 See you next video. Bye.
@christian.irmler7 ай бұрын
Happy New Year, Carlos! Yes, I have indeed lost some kilos. Amazing that you noticed that. But not only with hiking, I have to admit: Since October I'm in the hot endphase of a big, big project, which I think has even the potential to change landscape photography as we know it (will be revealed here on my channel soon). Ultimately, I didn't sleep and eat much, as I also had to deal with my daily business and produce weekly videos. Short: Currently I'm working on my limit. I know, that's not the healthiest way of loosing weight, but my aim is to finish the project, not to loose weight, haha 😆 But it's cool, I will try to keep it for sure! Fantastic to hear that you are loosing weight as well. I hope in a more healthy way than I did 😉 If you have some tips what worked for you here, just tell me. Thank you and nice greetings, Christian

Tnx , sadly Amazon doesn't deliver it in France. I had this problem before with other bear sprays I found on line. Unsure what's the story with bear sprays and France. But tnx anyway. Maybe I'll pick one, next time I'm in Germany :-) @@christian.irmler

prevent bear ATTACK; don't shower * don't use deodorant bc the scent may attract bears, they can smell you over a mile away. no cologne or after shave, only scent should be human scent ...
@christian.irmler7 ай бұрын
Hi Patrick, thanks a lot for this tip! Honestly, that is something I didn't know. So, I shouldn't use the shower in my van all too often. I don't know if my wife likes that idea, but it's noted 😉 Happy New Year, my friend, Christian
