ABOUT
I'm Shayla, an earthy mountain mama to 6 wildlings, & a blessed wife to one since 2004. We're a big, Jesus loving, God fearing family & we love to laugh! Hubby & I are second generation homeschoolers, & have been homeschooling our children from the start-since around 2009. We were raised unconventionally, and our parents utilized homesteading before it was trendy, and it was a goal and dream of ours to do the same-but it's only been recently that we have been able to bring this dream to full potential. Last year the Heavenly Father brought to life our dream that we've had for over 25 years and enabled us to begin buying a mountain homestead fixer upper, so join us in the adventures and fun here at our new homeschool/homestead! Be sure to subscribe. In 2023 my goal is to upload once a month.
Video's you can find here that I enjoy creating include;
+ homestead & homeschool vlogs
+ homeschool mom day in the life videos
+ curriculum reviews
+ boho home decor and fixer upper videos
+ eco friendly clean with me hacks
+ grocery & + Azure Standard Hauls
+ Cook with me vids
+ big family living
+ adhd homeschooling support
+ open talk about living & parenting with anxiety + auto immune disease
+ homeschool mom affirmations, motivation & encouragement
+ home organize with me videos (including homeschool organization vids)
& all things HOMEMAKING!

Please remember to keep comments respectful, we don't do mom/curricula/homeschool style shaming here! 🥰

I have been shamed before I even started homeschooling. I was shamed by family who didn't think homeschooling was a good idea, I had no support system other than my husband who also wasn't completely convinced. I have been shamed from other homeschooling mothers on the curriculum choices I have made. I had no mentor and jumped head first into this life and our five daughters are extremely intelligent and years above their peers in education and life experiences. Thankfully I have always been a non-conformist and someone who doesn't give much care to others opinions about my life. Having a strong backbone has been invaluable.

Some things I’ve learned in my homeschooling is: ~~Don’t get caught up comparing your homeschool to other’s. We can drive ourselves crazy doing that. ~~Don’t stress out when “life” gets in the way of homeschooling. It definitely will! If a month goes by with little book work because-fill in the blank- your children will be FINE. 💗 If you can’t get to history or science for 6 months, your kids will be fine! If you rarely actually finish a whole curriculum book, everyone will be fine. :) ~~Faith in and relationship with our God is the most important thing. Live out your faith in front of your children, pray with them and teach them about Gods love. Heaven is the goal, not checking off boxes in our lesson plans. 💗 I’ve been homeschooling 23 years now and still have 8 kids left in preschool through 12th grade. 💗

My goodness! I can't believe hearing you say that your old homeschool videos weren't being seen and that you had to do something to prove their value! Those videos were what brought me to your channel! I was at my limit with my own ADHD child, and you brought me hope. Your homeschool videos are some of the most thoughtful, grounded, practical ones I've seen.

my husband helped me make a schedule that helped me not feel so scattered and like we weren't achieving anything. We must start at 8 o clock and it is so encouraging to finish by 11. What I struggle with is getting enough alone time. I like to listen to podcasts while I work in the kitchen in the afternoons, yet that is when my littles want to help in the kitchen. I have real hard time balancing this time for them and myself.

This was wonderful! As someone who is also a second generation homeschooler (but only in my early years with mine) thank you for this wisdom and information….as cheesy as this sounds, you are one of my answered prayers. I prayed for stories, wisdom and resources to come along my journey from a second generation homeschool mom….I’ll never forget the day you came across my KZfaq feed and in that first video you mentioned you were one! God is good.

Thank you. I homeschooled my children and now I'm helping with homeschooling the grandchildren. We have ADHD, a baby and another on the way. A kindergartner and a second grader. Most days are wonderful, a few are more challenging. We are co teaching with parents and blending together teaching and parenting styles. On top of this we help my 94 year old mother inlaw. Life is busy and never boring here. I am blessed.

I had the great privilege and honor to homeschool my two kids through high school and both went to college. The youngest graduated from home in 2002 and college in 2006. I LOVED homeschooling, having my kids with me was my greatest joy. Yes, it was challenging, even with two, but I am forever grateful for those years and miss them terribly. My daughter homeschools as well, her eldest graduated from home and today we had the honor of seeing her get married. I read in a homeschool magazine many years ago that when raising your children, the days are long, but the years are short! How very true. I love your channel.

We have been homeschooling out of our dining room for several years. It is driving me crazy. I am going to store our curriculum and supplies in our library and then use our carts on wheels to take them back and forth. This will help so much.

I always feel like I need to watch all your videos again because I miss things as I’m multitasking. I can’t believe your old videos weren’t watch by many viewers. I am so thankful to have you sharing and helping us mamas in this community. It was adorable seeing the hide and seek part. These are all important elective skills that you shared. Thanks again for being a blessing.

That chore system is so cool and I think the reward ticket looks fun too. I love that you have a bell. I do agree with you about fathers. Kids, especially boys, look up to their fathers big time and want support and to feel like they are making their dad proud. I find that families with good fathers usually do thrive the best. I agree about boys taking a little more time than girls, and that is okay. It is how their testosterone works. Mine did not like being inside and still for long periods of time so we had to break it up a lot and it worked out. I mean, I don't like to sit still for too long and am a very visual hands on learner, so I tried to make sure we would do reading in other rooms and writing in another. It ended up working out, oddly enough. Reading became a "cozy activity." I love audio books. I remember when my older kids listened to so many fun audiobooks through Hoopla digital (8 free audiobooks a month through the library account attached to the site). Now (and for years) I just read to them all during/after dinner. They still love that!

Well i started following your channel a long time ago for a completely unrelated reason... i think it was autoimmune diet related ?? Im a busy homestead, homeschool off grid mum of 6 from age 9 down. so i rarely get to watch a video, maybe once or twice a week . I had nothing i felt like watching when i sat down for my rare tea break , so i clicked on your channel again because i hadnt had a good browse. OMG i cant believe your channel has been sitting in the background of my subscriptions just busting with the sort of content i love! So im binge watching you now 🤣🤣🤣
