A young Ronnie working his way up to Mr. Olympia, then shocking everyone with his first win .. Which was just the warmup because then he goes on and wins another 7 consecutive MR. O's for 8 total wins and becomes the most dominant bodybuilder in history. One of the longest vids I made ✊ #GoatStatus #8Time #RonnieColeman #NicandroVision

humble is the difference between making your money or inheriting it. He spent enough years too poor to pay a gym membership, so he knows he can't look down on those who just don't have 23 inch arms and a 29 in waist. But he did kind of irk me when he said that since he didn't get paid when he didn't win, he thinks that bodybuilders that don't win shouldn't get paid, while Shawn Ray was campaigning for all competitors to get at least something for making it to the Olympia stage.

@@jasonito23 It's not that "if you are not good enough then you don't get paid", it was more about complaining that you don't get paid. Ronnie was making nothing, he himself paid for his travel expenses, placed last and did not cry, shut his mouth and just worked his ass off. What he wanted to say was that you will get NOWHERE with complaining, and to be frank, Ronnie was right. But so was Shawn - the best of the best SHOULD get paid just for being there. Can't knock either one of them. Both had valid points.

Met him in 2006. End of the road by then. He was just so humble, so amazed at the fact that fans came to see him. Even then, after 7 or 8 wins he was still shocked by the fan turn out. He never wanted the fame, just to be the best. Thats a true athlete.

What I can appreciate in those shots of Ronnie when he was young is that he always had an amazing and unique structure with small hips and broad shoulders that gave him his characteristic look when he became a mass monster. It's like that structure was made for supporting a 300lbs weight with big muscles in a way you don't see in other bodybuilders, with those really big pecs, traps, and lats that somehow looked natural on him. He had the potential to be the best since the very beginning.

This is super important in considering Ronnie’s legacy. The 90s was THE most competitive era in bb’ing history. Any of the top 10 placers in the Olympias of that decade could arguable be hall of famers. And one stood head and shoulders above for 8 consecutive years. Insane.

This is one of the best videos seen youtube as of now. A great tribute for a great Legend. I haven't seen such a great body builder who won eight titles and still he remained humble and down to earth. He never complained. He always trained hard, push his limits and everything that was won is only because of his pure hard work. And he was always grateful to his supporters. Hats off to a great legend. 🙏😍👏👏👏. Great video by Nicandro team..

Absolutely excellent vid Nick, really enjoyed it. I remember buying the Mr O video (man I'm an old fart!) in early 97 and thinking Ronnie looked superb. He screamed potential in that show. Rock on to 98 and I was on a cruise down the Shannon, the biggest river in Ireland, with friends when I found out Ronnie won. I thought Flex was a shoo in but wasn't massively surprised that Ronnie had won. All of this pseudo clairvoyance happened because of one article in Flex magazine. It had an interview with Ronnie and his partner of the time, Vicky Gates. Vicky had absolutely incredible biceps, and was saying hers were better defined than Ronnie's. He agreed. At that point I knew he had the humility to push himself to levels that guys without his genetics could only dream about getting to. To find out that this guy was on the Mr O stage while NOT taking Ped's showed his outrageous genetic potential. Add this to his powerlifting background, his desire and humility he was a cake mix waiting to be baked. Once flex started to help him, especially around insulin, he just exploded. A good guy, superb athlete and inspiration to people around keeping going, never quitting and espousing a give it your all you got mentality means he will always be remembered with respect. Ronnie, a phenomenon 👍💪💪

I met Ronnie Coleman at a Dinner event and wound up spending a couple of hours with him! He was so down to earth and just couldn’t be any nicer! It was that off season and he said he was 315lbs and I remember sitting next to him, both my legs together were smaller than his left quad! I’m 6’1” 225 lbs and had been working out 5 days a week for years! I was so young and Ignorant to professional bodybuilding. Little did I know I was having dinner with the GOAT that had just won numerous Mr Olympia titles back to back! I knew who he was, but I had no idea I was in the presence of greatness!
