A peek at my creative process as I create a Becorn and photograph it with an oriole... and inevitably, with catbirds too.

I have no idea why this showed up on my feed but I'm over the moon it did. Thank you David, because your art is so inspiring. I'm going to send it to my daughter who loves sculptural art and loves being in the woods. Seems perfect for her! She used to make little people out of corks.

A camera is a fantastic gateway tool that leads you into other worlds that you might never have envisaged in your wildest dreams. You look through the viewfinder and next minute your sewing, carving, welding, soldering, crafting, constructing, recording, mixing Chemicals, referencing, and often researching and composing, and editing, and sometimes you'll cut your breathing. They can be huge time consumers so you never get to watch a TV, and whole days can disappear as well as the night. You can make a living from them, hide behind them, and get in trouble with them. A change of lens or a filter or a case, can open up other worlds that you've never seen, and wouldn't see without the camera and lens. First buy a camera and see what you see. I don't think there is any other tool that can lead to so many other interests.

Your art makes me nostalgic, it's hard to describe. As a kid I would create all sorts of things from stuff we found outside plus I pretty much grew up on things created by a local indie game studio - Amanita Design. What I found out about just recently is that they also worked on the movie named Kooky. (Kuky se vrací) It's got amazing character design and I recommend checking that out. I absolutely adore when people use nature in their creations in any form. I haven't even mentioned the care and effort you put in your art, it makes it feel so special. Watching these videos is so comfortable, like cuddling up in a warm blanket. Gotta appreciate the little things. (literally :D)

I love the Becorns and their names and the stories .. Have you thought of a children's book using your photographs or your drawings or a mix of both? You could have a little Becorn family or a village. I love the use of natural things for their construction , the simple beauty of nature. It could be a great thing to introduce children to and to foster an appreciation for nature, you could even make it educational , including information about specific birds or flowers or trees. So inspiring and wholesome and cozy! The Becorns and birds are so cute, and the tone you have while narrating is so calm and relaxing! All of the artistry that goes into making your shots line up, catching the photo, observing the birds, and of course, bringing the little Becorns to life is so satisfying to watch come together. Makes me wanna go out on a nature adventure too! 🦜🐿🪶🪵🍂🍁 🌰

I have a smile on my face because of your incredible imagination. When I was a very small child I built haciendas. Mini match boxes were molds for the adobes. In those days there were horney toads galore and their little babies about the size of a pencil eraser could be rounded up into the Pueblo. The best part was watching them make their way out and back to momma! Thank you for taking me on your tour!

I'm so excited that your creative work showed up on my KZfaq, I was on holiday in France and walking my dogs each day I walked over thousands and thousands of acorns and said to my Dutch friend I wish there was something I could think of to do with these lovely little things, and you have, and I absolutely adore your Becorns. Fabulous work.

Please please please TRADEMARK AND COPYRIGHT this if you haven’t already. This is absolutely genius. My mom and I have watched the others then you didn’t post for a while. This is a million dollar idea. The story, the characters, kids would love it, and adults!!! You can eventually create an animated series, I love the live action, we all do. But animated would be good also. Easy for kids to view it at home and understand and enjoy the stories! Your voice is great too, you could narrate the whole thing. It’s perfect. Eventually develop a toy/figure line. You are a multi millionaire you just don’t know it yet.

Something I love about the becorns is that the storytelling isn’t to in depth, or too reliant on the consumer’s imagination. It’s the perfect mix of implicit and explicit storytelling of the scenes. The videos are always really nice to watch, and it’s super cool to see how you make these pieces. Really inspiring!
