My dad was a real rocker/biker. Big guy, tattoos and a Triumph motorbike back in his youth. But Celine was his secret guilty pleasure which not many people knew about. We played this at his funeral last year 🥺 Right after “Glory Glory Man United” 😂

The Gibbs said they considered themselves songwriters first. Barry earned a reputation as a teen for custom writing for anyone in any style, and many of their hits were what they called “instant songs,” meaning they just came out quickly. Someone in the studio when Immortality was written said they were ending for the day, when Barry said he had an idea for a song, the brothers sat down, Barry started and his brothers joined in, and about 4 or 5 minutes later, they had Immortality. They sang backup on Celine’s single, and appear in her official video. I hear it as Barry’s anthem. He dreamed a dream as a child, and every ounce of him must see it through. He will make us all remember him, and give to him immortality through his music. The reference to forgiving “them” obviously refers to those (in the US music industry) who labeled them as disco and black balled them from radio. Barry’s response was to take a break as a group, and write and produce for others, most notably - and VERY successfully - whole albums for Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, and Dionne Warwick..... before coming back strong singing their own songs in 1987 in Europe. Their talent is really unparalleled, and their story is very inspirational. Thanks for reacting!!

Bee Gees wrote the song....and a lot of other songs that a lot of people don't know that they wrote for other artist. Their catalog is that of many, many songs. Dive in and enjoy....you will not be disappointed. I have every album they ever made. Proud of my collection and I never get tired of listening. Brings a lot of joy to me.

One of my favourite songs by Celine Dion, written by the brilliant Gibb brothers... It always give me goosebumps everytime I hear this song.. ❤️❤️❤️ If you're searching for other songs written by the Bee Gees, you should try "Heartbreaker" by Dionne Warwick, "Chain Reaction" by Diana Ross, "Emotion" by Samantha Sang, "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman, or one of the less successful hit written by Sir Barry Gibb, "Aint Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You" by Teri Desario.. ❤️

Barry wrote this song for her on spec & was thrilled when she agreed to do it. The making of video is great, she fan girls over them & they do the same over her. The respect they have for each other’s talents is beautiful. Barry said this is the song he’s written he is most proud of.

Beautiful song. If you get a chance, watch the making of this song. It only took 1 session. The boys were so emotional they always wanted her to sing one of their songs. She also did a great job at the 2017 Grammy salute to The Bee Gees.

This song is utterly amazing. Sadly, or I guess you could say, prematurely I say this, but I want this song played at my funeral and all day long the day I am remembered. Barry Gibb and his brothers The Bee Gees as they are, wrote this song and others and this song is unbelievalby so beautiful and makes me cry every time. The lyrics are spot on, and just so deep you can contain yourself.

There's a song that Celine sang with Barbara Streisand. Celine always looked up to Barbara and finally they got together alone with David Foster and recorded the song titled "Tell him". Check it out. Both of them are a powerhouse.

I love your reactions to my favorite group of all time. Bee Gees wrote it for the stage version of Saturday Night Fever, but when Celine wanted a Bee Gees song , they offered it to her and it was a hit for her (of course). There is a great video of the studio recording of this song with Bee Gees overseeing. Very emotional. Barry and Maurice goot teary and grabbed tissues.

Late to the party, but way back in 2017 at the Grammy tribute to the Bee Gees, Celine sang this song with Barry Gibb front and center in the seats. 20 years after this song came out, she can *still* hit those notes like it's nothing.

First time I saw Celine was 1992 in Miami. She was the opening act for a Michael Bolton concert. She 's come along way.

The boys just usually knew that as they began to write any song, about how it would suit them better, or not, style-wise, Jay. Some somhs, as they wote them, they just knew it was made for someone else in their mind to get their teeth into it first . . . With the likes of: Franki Valli, Dionne Warwick, Babara Striesand, Diana Ross, Dolly & Kenny, etc . . .On some they did the backing, on a few others, it just didn't need them on to help it succeed . . . I think that on one day in particular, they also managed to knock out 3 great songs there and then!
