Beech 1900D | Prince Albert | Start up and departure

Short video of us departing from Prince Albert northbound to La Ronge, Saskatchewan on scheduled flight.
I hope to soon add more cameras to cover different angles and make the videos more entertaining to watch!

Oh man, I miss flying the mighty Beech 1900. Have almost 4,000 hours in that thing. 15 years later, and the CRJ, A320 and now Boeing 787 under my belt, but the most enjoyable flying I have done was in the 1900. Thanks for sharing and allowing me to re-live some fun times!

beats the hell out of the 99 I flew for bearsikin. Flying the 777 now for nearly 11 years, but I'd love to go back to flying beech turborprops, or the PC12.

What an airplane the 777 is though. As a pax I'm always amazed at the enormous engines. Fantastic engineering. The twin king! 300ER my fav.

Great video, I have a question, in what moment do you turn on the inverters? I think I saw them turned on for pre start checks, do you let them in this position for the start procedure?.

Honestly it has been about 4 years since flying the 1900, I do not remember well. So maybe someone can correct me, but I believe in the D model I left the AC bus switches on (these switches powered the inverters), and powered the avionics until I was ready to start (made the AHRS initialization quicker), and then shut off just the 4 avionics switches, prior to starting.

@@FlyZRG Ok, I can see the inverters are used for Avionics (radios/gps/ehsi/etc) prior eng start and itselft checks (ON OFF TRANSFER) after eng start. Usually the inv checks is done before gen ties checks. I have read many docs about it.. ..Flight Safety/POH/etc.. ...love the 1900D... ...and C. Thank you

The starts are usually a bit quicker with a GPU compared to a battery start. No Autopilot on this bird.

Yes we did. We didn't always have a GPU available though. It's been a long time since I have flown the 1900 but I think the AFM says to shut them off whether it's a GPU or a battery start. I usually left them until the last minute (when we had GPU) so the AHRS could initialize.

Also after right engine starts and you turn on the engine generator do you then turn it off before left engine start or you keep it on throughout?

Thanks for the comment Milton. That sounds unreal, the 1900 was a magnificent machine to fly. Which leads me to the bad news. I do not fly the 1900 anymore, and that was one of the only videos I made of it(I'm not very good at making videos). If you have any questions about the aircraft I'd be happy to help! I do fly the Dash 8-Q400 now, and was thinking about making a video of similar style.

It's just an audio cable that plugs into the gopro and has jacks for your headset. You can find them on www.aircraftsrpuce.com and they are made by NflightCam

Great video...I have 3000 hours in the 1900C/D for a 121 carrier that used to operate in the US. One question on the cockpit preparation flow...I thought that we pulled the Fuel Firewall Shut-off valves with the battery switch off to check the Hot battery Bus?

I haven't flown the 1900 in a few years now, so my memory escapes me. It definitely makes sense and I'm sure we used to do it that way in the 200. I don't remember having to test specifically the hot battery bus, but we definitely tested the circuitry of the fire protection. In other words, does pulling the T handle actually close the valve, etc. In the 200 the first thing I always did was open the storm windows, pull the T handles and actually listen to the fuel valves close and keep trucking from there.

Yes, you're right...Our airline cockpit preparation flow for the CA was to pull the T-handles and listen for the valves to close...And, after the battery was on you completed the remainder of the test and then pushed the handles in...Been awhile for me as well...Sure miss flying that airplane!

Does This bird has a ahrs system to the navdata inertial system? Cause i couldnot see any adir algnments

Yeah it does. My trick was always to have the power on and align the AHRS while on the GPU. And right before the start shut them down. So after the starts when I turned them all on again, they’d essentially be aligned.

1900s and King Airs have the battery closest to the #2 engine so it can get more power, and the GPU plugs in on the left side on the 1900

I am working on a roadable seaplane that can carry 19 passengers and 1 pilot as full scale, with sizes down to 1/2 scale. Land on road, drive down road. Folds to 8.5 feet wide by 9 feet high. 7 props, 6 forward and 1 back with two motors. NOT electric. About 1/3 fuel flow than turbines. Has wheel drive which functions as compressor group in flight, so no weight penalty. Lands with power on at 30 mph, power off 60 mph. Max cruise 300 mph at 12k feet. Costs will be 20 cents/mile per passenger, or similar to airliners, but faster and door to door. Smaller 90% to 50% scales can fit in garage. This 1900D will be totally obsolete. This paradigm will soon be over. No need for airport. Use road. The entire system will change big time... Run it on fuel made from nuclear power....

This type of camera viewing really sucks. You can not pay attention to anything. You don't see anything property. Go back to basics.

i think the moving camera is pretty good because otherwise you cant really see some things because theyre too tiny. i think the only problem is the cameras auto light thingy here where it gets too dark because its brighter outside than in the cockpit
