BEES GO BANANAS! DO HONEY BEES HATE BANANAS??
Alarm pheromones and banana scent are the same chemically but does that mean you will get stung if you have a banana????
Have you ever fed your bees bananas?
Like most things this often retold story about bananas getting you stung must have extenuating circumstances. I eat a banana everyday and the bees do not gang up on me.

Agreed, I gave bananas to all my hives instead of pollen patties this winter. Each of my hives responded differently yet all the hives completely consumed them. Thanks for sharing.

Ive read a bunch of books and watched videos on beekeeping and so many of them talk about avoiding bananas. It seemed strange to me but its so common to hear. This is really helpful.

The way I figure it is we all smell different, what I eat may make me smell funny to the bees. My son would drink Monster and if he got near the bees they went for him. If I drink it no problem! Always keep an open mind! Thanks for watching.

Interesting I have to smoke my bees when I open them, what is your breed of bees. mine are carnie mix open mated queens, I run 30 hives at this time I am going to increase this year it would be nice to have 50 I think that will be the max I can handle until I retire . I have a very full plate right now I do not know how old u are but I am 63 I love being a bee keeper. Hope u have a good week

Italian, open mated VSH 30 is alot and 50 is too😉 It's an addiction!

Two things that come to mind. Some people are around animals and so I could see bees picking up on the scent of animals like a dog or cat. The other thing is, like you said something going on with the hive. Last year I started not using gloves. Makes moving the frames a lot easier. The hive that attacked my hands the most was queenless. My other big hives, I didn't get stung once.

I go gloveless most of the season. Yes, we move better in my opinion. Those queenless hives always have something to say!!

Banana skins placed in chalk brood infested hive sometimes gets the hive clean but not always

Very interesting video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I realized while I watched it that I had in fact worked my bees today with a black hoodie on. Clearly there was no issue because I didn’t even realize I had done it till I watched this video. Anyways, very good info here. Thank you.

GREAT VIDEO! I've watched MANY videos of keepers feeding bananas to their bees ESPECIALLY in foreign countries where sugar is expensive.

I've heard the same thing about bananas but never seen them get angry towards bananas. You need to feed the bees and orange and some pineapple to get those tropicana banana bees. I did notice on amazon there is Essential Oils Banana. I wonder if there is any difference if things are more concentrated?

There is a study that put cotton balls that had stingers in them on the landing board. The bees attacked the stinger ball as opposed to the cotton ball with no stingers. Of course bees will sting where they smell their stinger and being on the landing board this would be doubly so, in my experience of being stung at the front gate! But they must sense the difference, even subtly , between a banana and a sting scent. We have banana trees here and orange trees! They get the nectar but not enough to bee Tropicana bees 😂🌴 though I have heard a bit of reggae when opening the hives!🎵🌴🍹
