So glad to see these interpretation classes are back! I’ve been watching all the old ones for a long time now and was recently inspired to pick up my cello again after a few years. I’ll never be as good as these performers but it’s lovely just to make music again

One of the undisputed masterpieces of chamber music. Just one, out of the many times, that Beethoven gave birth to a whole musical world.

As a non-musician, failed pianist, I found this inspiring and moving in equal measure. Thank you so much...

Such skill involved with his teaching. Always encouraging them, as he continually is making them better and better. Explaining to them there is so much more to it than just being a good musician. Telling a story with their playing. Truly living the moments to there fullest, bringing to the audience their very best.

You dropped a pearl of wisdom that has brightened my ignorant corner of the universe. In your discussion, you talked about who has the dominant voice in different parts of the piece. I've heard such discussions before, but this time it registered. I am often irritated when the accompaniment (piano, orchestra, ...) drown out the soloist, but sometimes the accompaniment should be the dominant voice. Now I have something new to listen for.

I know the pianist was given credit in the video description but she deserves recognition in the on-screen credits.

Fantastic, beautiful and inspiring. Excellent teaching and musicianship. Special shout out to Deana (?). She is one of the best pianists in the world, bar none.

I have been playing this piece and listen to it many times but this is the first time I actually heard Beethoven. The dynamics, the tempi, etc. Pure joy to watch and listen!

his playing gives the sensation of meeting a very beautiful girl and then you get used to her beauty and after a while or so you begin to realize that she is a great person who possess a magnificent personality and purity. you stumble on the fact that even if she's not beautiful, you'd spent the rest of your life with her.

Right now I noticed that Jacqueline du Pré starts the sonata with a downbow, also Sol Gabetta (but they divide the next upbow) 😉
