In war good and evil fight on both sides that's what none of you seem to get. Saying every American soldier is like this is like saying every Japanese soldier was like this when in fact many were horrified by what they saw. You all seem to forget Americans aren't the only ones who did things like this, Germans did things like this, the Japanese, man even the Soviets raped 10,000 women in Berlin. War is hell absolute hell and people need to realize this. There are good men and bad men fighting on both sides. Simple as that.
@jimquantic7 жыл бұрын
I have to agree with you on that Brandon, evil is in men. What amazes me, when you stop and think, is why men WANT do do such things, the answer is that they "know they can get away with it"--no, it is WHY do they WANT to do such things? Evil is in men, maybe my friend is right who thinks women should rule the world--after all, could they do any worse?

Jmichael Isbell I see where you're coming from and with my beliefs I believe humans are naturally born with dark hearts and evil and good lurks within them. Humans will always do terrible things to eachother; beatings, rapes, murder etc. Humans naturally are children of wrath who think their frankly invincible until proven other wise.

@@pinkmichelefloyd Yes, I'm quite familiar with My Lai as I am with the Hill 192 Incident, which is what this movie is based on. My husband is a retired JAG and military law students are required to study and analyze both of these cases among others. For example, what they don't tell you in this movie about Hill 192 is that most of these officers went down for covering it up. I never, ever, EVER use Wikipedia as a reference and you shouldn't either because anyone can write anything about any subject. No, I go to the actual decision, which can probably be found online. All I want to know is how Chokhim Tayang knows it's 5% and why he/she is so sure it was only American troops. There were other countries involved with Vietnam. Was Chokhim Tayang standing in the middle of it with a calculator and notepad while it actually happened?

It's ironic how the brutality of the Vietnam War, as portrayed in this movie, seems secondary to the atrocities done to that poor woman. Many who see this are sickened by the violence against her & not as much by the violence of a war that, historically, was 1 of the bloodiest ever. Jesus, I don't know if it's good that the collective conscience can be appalled by such violence against a woman or if it's bad that war can be so downplayed. ??
@countryboy23682 жыл бұрын
It's a movie. They dramatized to play on your emotional harp strings. That's why it's based on a true story and not something made on actual events as they really happened. The film maker wants to emphasize as much as possible that the American soldier in Vietnam was as sexist, racist and women hating as can possibly be. They might as well have had crucified her and gotten it over with. I bet the truth is much different than the movie. I mean Vietnam was so full of women that would give you a good shag to for a carton of cigarettes why rape but there were some sicko individuals there that liked to rape kids and usually them guys didn't make it out of Vietnam. They were taken out as much as possible.

@Heli PadUSA , This movie is based on a real case. Google Hill 192 incident. The girl in the real case was kidnapped, gang raped, stabbed multiple times, and shot in the head after she still tried to flee. The murders got away with just a few years in prison. And guess what? This case only surfaced because there was really a soldier who did not participate and reported their crimes. It is just a tip of iceberg consider millions died in Vietnam. And nope, Hollywood is pure American propaganda these days.
