When he broke down as he said "I wanted to protect her", that was heartbreaking and emotional. It really just shows the power a mother has in your life. Great talk man. It just shows that violence is never the answer in any given situation.

@gavinhebert19 It’s true, sometimes attack is the best form of defence. It’s survival for some members of a household with domestic violence. My brother would fight my dad to protect my mum because that’s all that he could do when he was a child. When he was older he helped my mum and our siblings to escape.

When experiencing trauma much like Crews did, the person being abused will in some cases take on the behaviour of another person (for example the abused becoming the abuser) or maybe becoming the class clown to get people laughing.

I stooped to their level for almost 35 years, all the sh*t moments in my life were the direct result of drinking alcohol, tried to quit for everyone in my life but realised I needed to quit for myself... I have been sober 38 weeks now considering 3-4 days was a struggle without alcohol... If life can give you 1 regret, Alcohol is mine. I never remembered the good times being drunk it was only the bad but then you don't want to remember those times either... I now feel better emotionally, physically and spiritually. @JustRiivox
@JustRiivox 4 жыл бұрын
@@Raptranslated you also sound uneducated. "True success is love and family not money and notoriety" is exactly what a loser would say. I'm sorry to be this brutal but it's a very easy trap most people fall into and the main reason why only 1% of the population is successful. It's a slave mentality where you're always going to criticize people who do better than you in life and point the finger at them by alluding to corruption or other stupid excuses like that. So the successful person will always be in the wrong in your mind and you are always going to be in the right because you think you have a much better morality than him, which will lead you to amount to nothing. I might be uneducated but I invite you to read some Nietzsche, it literally describes people with this type of mentality and the reasons why they'll never amount to anything. Also, to put it quite frankly, I don't think the person I replied to knows anything about Ted Crews life and how he truly did everything by himself. Being successful is becoming the best version of yourself. It means trying your hardest in whatever field you work in. It means being as present as you can be with your family. It means taking care of your body. It means taking care of your mind. It means making sure you learn something new everyday. I just can't stand people who always want to find some negative in someone else's life. It's a sad thing. Yes he's in hollywood so? It might be a place full of pedos, coke heads, rapers and so on but that doesn't necessarily make him one. It's also where every actor in the world hopes to end some time in their career. It's the top of the industry and just because there are shitty people in it's community doesn't mean everyone is like that. Why would you even look at it that way in the first place? A lot of people in politics are also extremely corrupt but there are also some very honorable men and women who truly do have morals and work hard to help their country. Why would you judge the individual by only talking into consideration a group he's part of? Especially considering the fact that there's some obvious reasons why he's in hollywood that have nothing to do with all of the negative things that happen there? The person I replied to, literally brought up negativity to a very positive comment by using hollywood's most negative things as an excuse to downplay someone's PERSONAL success.

I have always admired Terry Crews, just for his personality and acting roles and talent. I never took the time to listen to his past history stories, and a lot of other actors and celebrities I don't know their past. I should start watching more interviews like this. This one was intense, well for me, it hits home because I too had an abusive father and been through hardship. It's rough when you have a bad father and there's nothing you can do. Here's what it caused. I was getting bad headaches every day from the paranoia and stress. I was always scared and always checking over both shoulders, as if I was a Mobster with a Hit on my Head about to be whacked. It effected my personality and my developmental skills for communication and interaction because I thought that the whole world was this bad place because my world was such a bad place with my bad dad and as a result, I didn't talk to or trust anyone. I was rebellious and unruly to authority figures because the main authority figure inside my personal life (my father) was so awful, so as a little kid I thought every authority figure was bad. I felt helpless, alone, scared, and confused, not just about the situation but also about life. I couldn't understand why that girl in my class was able to hug her dad and be happy and content when being picked up from school. Why does this other boy in my class get handed a Basketball to which his dad said "let's do some 1 on 1". Like what was wrong with me?? Why was I not wanted or loved like these other kids? It started to effect my school work. I never got good grades. As a kid, I didn't know how to handle this anguish properly and juggle multiple situations. It's not a kid thing to really know how to do. So the teachers were getting concerned, so the therapy started. It didn't help much because the root was already present. My dad. So it got to the point where one day, there had to be a family stand, and dad was told to go away, and he did, but tried to come back, claiming he changed. We give him a second chance. He didn't change. So he got the boot again, and had the audacity to play the victim because he is not wanted. Gee, I wonder why...Anyways, this is the point where I was starting to feel free, until he would just show up at random leaving notes like "I was Here" and the date and time and then that Look over both shoulders thing was happening again for me as a result. This was off and on for years. It wasn't until he died from Liver Cirrhosis from excessive drinking until I felt totally free. Usually kids and young adults who lose a parent mourns and cries. Me? NOPE! It was a relief. All the bad weight on my shoulders have been instantly lifted. The headaches all went away and while I am not fully there yet (after over a decade) I am slowly but surely finding my voice and my place in the world. I never visited dad in the hospital when he was in there. There was no drive, no passion, no yearn to be there. There was no love. Only hate/bad. I didn't shed a single tear when made aware of his death. I was actually happy. How fucked up is that?? If you made it this far, THANK YOU for taking the time to read and understand my story. You are a LEGEND!

It's a feeling of walking on eggshells, with a constant dread around you. It was funny, I was always the outgoing, "popular" kind of guy in middle/high school, but the second school was over, and I was back at the place, I was dead inside. The time he gets back from work gets etched in your brain. It traps you inside of yourself. Don't know how to really explain it, but you know.

Have watched the results of programs for young men for decades. So thankful for their fatherhood training because the proof is in the puddin'. Domestic abuse is so painful because we all have to go home sooner or later. Thanks for sharing and demonstrating the home training mom provided under dire circumstances.

We’re all beautiful human beings. We just get corrupted by alcohol and drugs. We make decisions and mistakes that define our life. Leave the alcohol alone, leave the drugs alone, walk away. Avoid it all together.
@javrak
@javrak 3 жыл бұрын
@@LL-ht5yc I find substance abuse is typically an escape from people who want to shrug their woes off on another individual. Rot perpetuating itself as it does. Negativity breeds negativity. Its why its important to try and be positive and inspire. Easier said than done, but we all need to at least try. This man is doing, and that can inspire others to do more than just try.
