One more thing to mention that was not covered here regarding the kerf/blade thickness, is that a balanced saw with a thicker blade will cut better and more precise with less chance of kickback. The thinner blades often wobble slightly back and forth giving you imperfect cuts and chance to throw the wood out such as a contractor saw or midrange saw on a stand if the saw is not perfectly level. The Forrest WWII blade will last you 10 years if you take care of it and get it sharpened as seen at the end of the video. Will have to try a CMT blade. Nice vid.

I have the Forrest for crosscut and got a CMT 24t for ripping. The CMT was a game changer for me on ripping, since it has eliminated the burning i was getting with the Forrest blade. The time I spend changing the blade is far less than the time i spent sanding the burned areas. Love the videos Matt

Okay, okay! I'll replace my original saw blade that came with the table when I bought it (2 years ago)! Thanks so much for the tip, Matt! At least that will save me from having to clean it. Love your channel - been watching for several months now. This video has a lot of useful information. I've seen other people say to use nylon or brass to clean blades, never steel.

I have used the Diablo blades for many years and they work great but I bought a Forrest brand blade for my table see a few years back and it's a really nice blade. Having said that. I have been using the CMT router bits for some time as well and they are great bits so I plan on trying their saw blades for my next purchase, especially after seeing how much you like them too.

I switched to CMT blades a few months back and haven't looked back. I still have a bunch of spyders and diablos but find myself using the CMT more so. They are great quality from the full kerf to the thin kerf. They also look good with that chrome finish!

I've got that same DeWalt tablesaw that you showed the image of. And I love that saw. I've never found it to be under powered at all. Also the 32 tooth blade, I got that same blade with my tablesaw along with 2 other blades. I use the 24 blade tooth for carpentry type work. I use the 32 tooth blade(you had in your hand) for crosscuts. And the 60 tooth blade for rip cuts. I haven't had a problem with anyone of them. I also purchased a - Freud thin kerf 24 tooth rip cut. The only reason I ordered that one is because it was a ftg. And wow the difference. I get as good of cuts from the Freud blade as I do from any of the DeWalt blades. Anyhow I was just chatting. Great video. Anyone starting out will learn a lot from this video, Matt. I wish I would have found a video like this when I was starting out.. lol. Thanks for the great content, keep up the great work.. God bless you all. Take care.

Very good video, Thanks, Matt. I am searching for a blade to go on my table saw right now. 1" arbor, saw can take up to a 14" blade. Current rip blade that came with saw (used) is a 14", 0.177 kerf width monster. Moving down in size so I can hide the blade below the table surface when saw is not in use. After watching, I might be in the market for a couple 12" blades. One with 42 teeth, one with 96 for that cabinet work.

According to Project Farm my stock Ryobi blades aren't all that bad ;) Im happy to have picked up my first diablo blade, it's a high tooth count and i've been humming and hawing over which machine to put it in (both my table saw and miter are 10") and this has basically convinced me to to put this thing in the miter, and seek out a decent combo blade for the table saw

So I'm fairly new to woodworking, and the wife bought me my first table saw for Christmas last year. It's the DeWalt with an 8 1/4" blade, and I'm having the hardest time finding a flat top grind blade that isn't thin kerf. Wanted to do finger joints, so a thin kerf blade would be a bad option. Is there anyone out there with any suggestions? I've looked, read multiple comments, followed links, and so far I've been denied. I've gotten a lot of good advice and ideas from this channel, so you were my go-to guy. Hopefully someone can help me?

I do like the Diablo blades. Have them on miter and table saws. I get them at woodcraft or Rockler. A little more expensive but a little better quality. Every 5th tooth is flat. Kinda best of both worlds. They cut great and when cleaned regularly are awesome. I have tried the Ridge Carbide blade too. It is simply amazing! I’d put it right up there with the Forest WWII!

Great video! I work at a local Woodcraft part-time and most of our customers purchase Freud blades. I tend to push the Freud 50 tooth combo blade if they want an all around "pretty much do anything" blade. Our more serious customers, the ones who make a living with their saws, or are more serious hobbyists, usually go with Forrest blades.

I have a radial arm saw that I picked up used for a really great price. I use that machine instead of putting a dado blade in my table saw. It's so much faster and easier to set and cut half-lap and similar grooves in boards on that machine and avoid the pain of changing the blade on my old craftsman table saw. Anyway, my question is what do you guys use for a FLAT tooth blade? I have a lot of trouble finding a good quality flat tooth blade that leaves a nice clean flat cut without spending $175 for the blade. I tried one of those ATB blades that had a few flat teeth mixed in but that still does not leave a nice clean flat bottom on the cuts. Any suggestions would be very welcome. As always, GREAT video Matt! It's been really fun watching your channel grow over the years.

I have been watching lots of your videos and they are great! I’m about to start learning with a table saw and a miter saw and was wondering if I can use a 10 inch blade on a 12 inch miter saw like the Dewalt DWS779? A good reason to go with a lower tooth count blade, especially in heavier stock is the deeper gullet between the teeth. Makes it easier for the blade to remove the chips from the cut. Blade runs cooler, motor doesn’t work as hard. Usually your rip blade will have fewer teeth.

Some higher quality blades have a clear coating on them to provide a "slicker" and less burn cutting as the wood passes thru. Simple Green will often remove this coating. A better cleaner would be something like Boeshield Blade and Bit. Just my opinion. Otherwise I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
