Our Boxing Gloves section caters for Boxing, Kickboxing and for any combat sport that involves striking with the hands. This type of glove is measured by weight in ounces, not by a generic sizing, and covers the gloves for use in both competition which tend to be lighter from 6 - 10oz, and for sparring; where the weight tends toward 12 - 16oz.

With a full range of both leather and synthetic Boxing gloves in a variety of different styles, colours & designs we will almost certainly have the right glove for you. There are many different options when you are looking at boxing gloves whether you prefer a tight fitted snug glove or a more comfortable looser glove, Lace up or Velcro. for competition or for sparring, we undoubtedly have one of the best selections available in the UK.

Good stuff. Beginners often need to hear this stuff. Lots of folks default to 16oz which really isn't necessary. 14oz are perfectly fine for sparring as long as folks aren't deliberately trying to take each other's heads off. A lighter glove is easier to control which makes it easier to teach a student how to strike fast while still going light, which will build muscle control, which makes it even easier to hit hard and fast.

Reyes Super Bag glove is what that was called. It's a training glove. That's the first type of Reyes glove that I used. I believe they call it the Hybrid training glove now, but it used to be called a Super Bag Glove. Super Bag Glove seems to no longer be used as a name by any brand, they just call them training gloves now, so it implies that they will work for both bag work and sparring.

OMG this is SO helpful, thank you! I've been going mad trying to work out which size I should get, because, as you say, the online merchants link it to weight or hand size, but as I'm about 85kg and a woman, the results are either 12oz or 16oz! Also my coach said 16oz and I was worrying that if I bought those, they'd be too big for my hands, which one vendor said was the case. I just have one question - you said the smaller sizes are for pads and bags, and the bigger for sparring. I'm not sparring, just training with heavy bags. I'm guessing 16oz are also good to protect beginners if they punch hard but not accurately?

I do krav maga, and I think our sparring class is mostly kickboxing, and maybe some muay thai (we do mitt/thai pads/kicks, and few rounds of sparring). I need a different set of 16oz gloves (I think). I currently have a pair or Hayabusa Ikuza's and I keep jamming my thumb when doing mitt work. From what I've gathered in research this is a fit problem for the hand compartment. My hands are roughly 8 inches in circumference fingers spread (not sure if other measurements would help), and 175 (not lean) lbs, and I have small wrists. I'm not a professional fighter and have no intent to be (so buying $300+ Winning isn't in my budget, looking at $80-150), but I don't need "budget" gloves either. I think most people in the class are using regular boxing gloves, but I've been wondering if muay thai style wouldn't be better since we do work with kicks and grapples. We change from gloves to mitts several times in class so ease of change is important, I've found this to be a problem with the hayabusa's. I did try some fairtex on the other day (without wraps), the seemed very very loose on my hands, and the compartment is lightly padded compared to my hayabusa's, which the internal padding could be why they seem big. I've been looking at Boon, Title, and Rival, but not opposed to other options (and it's sad that there's no local store where I can just try gloves). What would you recommend? (p.s. I like your video's, I'm an American though, so not sure how easy it is to buy from you)

On your site I've looked at the Ringside headgear with bars and there are 4 different variety's to choose from would love to see a video on what's so different about each one 1. Pro training bar head guard 2. Revolution bar head guard 3. Neon revolution bar head guard 4. Bar headguard They also range in prices too many thanks I think with that kind of variety in the ringside bar head guards a video would help your customers no end including my self as £150 is a lot to spend I and many others would want to get the correct bar type that suits our needs Cheers

Hi there, huge apologies for the delay in our response. We're in the process of redoing many of our marketing channels, but back on it now! The Ringside head guards are great, but yep - there's lots of choice. To be honest, the differences are very slight. For example the Revolution has vented ear guards, but is otherwise very similar to the much cheaper Pro Training. Often prices are higher for the limited edition / bright coloured models. We like them all, but if budgets important you can't go far wrong with the basic black bar head guard: www.fightstorepro.com/brands/ringside/ringside-pro-training-bar-head-guard-black-white.html Finally, we are in the process of doing a video on this. Stay Tuned!

HI Im starting in boxing i weight 110 pounds but 173 cm tall. Since boxing gyms are not opened can anyone tell me what size sparring gloves would I be required to spar with? I live in America so it might be different from Europe. I want to buy either 14oz or 16oz. I know the padding has to do a lot with the glove but lets say both are soft for sparring which one should I buy to be on the safe side? Oh and do you think 16 is to heavy for my weight? I have used 16oz on heavy bag at home and i feel fine even after 4 rounds. Thanks.

For anyone with small hands like me, if you think "the guy in the vid is 6'3 and reccomended 10oz, but I'm a lot smaller" if you're a 5'2-5'9 adult, I'd still get the 10oz gloves. Online you may see 6oz (child size) and 8oz (teen size are also very small and no room for wraps. I'm 5'5 and 10 ounce are perfect for training and I have small hands. Hey Faisal. As you may know the most common sizes of gloves are 10 oz, 12 oz, 14 oz and 16 oz. 10 oz gloves are the most popular size for bag/pad workouts while 14, 16, 18, and 20 oz gloves are used for sparring. For myself I use 12oz gloves just because its more comfortable for me. You can find a huge selection of gloves at our online store as well as many more vlog and blog posts that might answer any other questions you might have. www.fightstorepro.com/

Actually, it is very rare that 12oz gloves will be used for sparring. Most gyms will suggest 16oz gloves for sparring and maybe 14oz depending on the padding. Winning gloves for example have more padding, so gyms will allow you to spar in 14oz Winnings. 12oz gloves might be used in some gyms who don't care as much or take it as serious, but yeah generally 16oz is the standard for sparring gloves.

bigger padding doesn't secure you from getting concussions. It's the opposite. the better the padding the more your opponent is willing to throw harder punches because their hands takes no damage from it. so bigger pads lead to a higher risk of getting a concussion. barehand boxing is the safest form of boxing. yeah you might get bruises and all but thats nothing compared to getting blows to the head with immense forces and taking chronic brain damages from it.

I'm Western, don't weight much, maybe 150lbs, quite big hands. Need bag, pad and maybe sparring. Guy told me 12 or 14oz. I'd like to buy Boon gloves from Thailand. Should I "size up"? Thanks.
@FSPRO
@FSPRO 6 жыл бұрын
if you're sparring head towards the heavier weight glove - to protect you and the person you're sparring with. Lighter the glove the more you can work your hand speed though. 14oz is often the best all-rounder!

Hey @markomaric3737. We hear this a lot about hand size. We will get Alex to touch on this in a dedicated video! but to answer your question - They are the Twins BGLL1 Sparring Gloves but given Twins Specials current circumstances, the brand is a struggle to get in the UK and USA at the moment.

The oz refers to the padding, not necessarily the size of the glove. More about getting a brand / glove that's a bit more spacious and accommodating of a larger hand. Feel free to give us a call to discuss - 0191 435 3624

@FSPRO
@FSPRO 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, the size of glove you opt for is really more dependent on the intended use. If you're just on the bags and pads and really want to work your hand speed then the lower end - 12oz - might be better. It's a lighter glove so you'll be able to generate more hand speed! For sparring, coaches / clubs etc. might request you use a 16oz to protect the person you're sparring with and of course your own hands. Justin

Grant simply can't manage enough production and truth is they are not really that interested in large scale production for retail which makes consistency with selling them nigh on impossible. because we aim to give great service we would love to sell Grant but its currently not a great avenue. Another point is brands such as Ringside and Revgear are now producing gloves which are close to Grant and Reyes Quality at under half the price. Cleto Reyes became almost unsellable after the Brexit Prize raises of over 20%. Reyes used to rule the top end market but now brands as mentioned have caught them up in terms of performance and quality. They last same amount of time and many athletes are coming to us saying they actually prefer the more modern designs. We say the fighters choice and we really mean it

Im looking to buy Twins BG-N i heard it's a good glove. I dont do sparring or matches , I just train with them on heavy bag and train with pads and on eachothers gloves. I prefer speed alot. Right now im using 10oz everlast gloves but they are hurting my hands. (not sure if its the size or that there just cheap gloves) Probably the combination of those 2. Now im not sure If i should go for 12 or 14oz... I'm 80kg and 1.75m long. So can I go for 12? or will they just be to small and wont fit me? And for my use should i get Adidas hybrid 200 or twins bgn
@FSPRO
@FSPRO 5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, it does sound like the (cheap) gloves here that are causing the damage to your hands. Notorious for that! in 12oz you'll get more hand speed, with 14oz a bit more padding / protection. Personally I'd go Twins, the Adidas 200 (and 300) are very decent gloves.
