The blood trail dream sequences really messed with me back in the day. The game blew me away though. I don't think many games hit as high of an emotional note as this one. It's gritty and raw. Not until something like The Last of Us really. I mean, Max witnesses the death of his wife and kid right off the bat. So crazy.

I feel a lot of affection for this video. It’s a real window into how the video game industry was in 2001 before it became such a huge conglomerate. A handful of dudes who are close friends sharing a vision, and working together and having lots of fun and laughing. You rarely see this behind video game production now. It’s so sterile and cold-just imagine an Ubisoft warehouse filled with people sitting at computers silently crunching out a product to meet a deadline. There’s little love or affection. I firmly believe that a work of art produced with lots of love and affection will be transferred into the art itself, and into the consumer.

I loved this game so much back then when i had my ps2. This game really had it all, from gameplay to drama to great story telling. This game also came out early in the ps2 life cycle and i think it pushed games forward when it came to story telling. I just finished beating this game on iOS and it brought back so many memories in the hours and the amount of time i kept playing this game back in the day. This game is truly a timeless classic.

I remember in an early interview when making Max Payne, two of the dev guys did went to the most dangerous part of NY protected by a retired NY Officer as their bodyguard, as he know the way around that area and the thugs there know him. Think they mentioned that guy have to show his gun around a bit to scare off some muggers

Imagine being in someone's womb for 9+ months have her spend time and get pain give birth to you, and then have her play as the antagonist in a game you starred in... These actor arrangements is one of the reasons i love Max Payne 1, like Nicole Horne is played by Sam Lake's Mother Edit: I was today'm years old when I found out Alfred Woden is played by Sam Lake's Father

This game was global. I am in Southern Brazil and I started playing this game at age 10... Back in 2005. What mostly fascinates me about this piece of art is how it perfectly blends with the gothical era that were the 00's.

Yeah, it is. I think more fantastical enemy types were common in games at that time. This enemy looks like something straight out of Quake. They obviously opted for a more realistic direction later down the road, which most definitely was the right choice. Seeing such hulking enemies would've seemed goofy and out of place in the final product.
