I think it would have absolutely surreal. Turcotte thought he could do 2:20 for a mile and a half on the turf. Not sure about that, but I think he would have the mile and a quarter world record, and a sub 1:45 mile and an eighth. The only thing that might have slowed him a bit would be the fact that he would carry more weight. I think the weight however would have had just a minimal impact considering that he trained consistently with 130 plus on him. Laurin thought he could win with 140 on his back. I'm not doubting it.

@@richd3044 and being a year older, the musculature would have allowed him to carry that extra weight. Everything I read says he was a late bloomer, so I when I imagine him at four is to imagine him winning everything, well everything that counts. He was getting better on grass, much better, and he was doing longer distances. He may have been able to do the 2 mile cup. At the end of the Belmont, He was still going. He wasn’t ready to stop. He could’ve done another quarter mile without thinking about it. When he set his mind to run, he ran, and he could keep running as long as he wanted to.

@@janetgallo5720 IF you get the better film of the aftermath of the Belmont, you can see that Secretariat was not breathing particularly hard; and was alert and active. HE still had more in the tank even after that incredible performance. On that day in June of 1973 I believe there is no race horse in history that could have beaten him.
