Күн бұрынThe plaintiff gave money to her ex-son-in-law while he was still with her daughter so they wouldn’t lose their home. However, the plaintiff claims the defendant refuses to pay back the loan, as well as child support for her grandchildren, so she’s suing. The defendant admits he accepted the money, but he insists he paid most of it back already.

@@biancadoss11 That's the saddest part. After I split up with my ex wife I did get behind occasionally on child support. I never went a month without giving her anything but I was supposed to pay $350 and I paid $150 or $200 a few times. I did make it up the next month. But one thing I never did was miss even one single minute with my son. And I had my other son from my first marriage who lived with me full time because his mother left us when he was 3 months old. And she didn't see him until he was old enough to pretty much take care of himself and she didn't pay child support until he was about 5 or 6 and she got remarried. Her husband is a good guy and made sure the child support came. Now all my kids are grown up but they can never look at me and say I wasn't there because I was every chance I got.

@1967davethewave I love to hear it. More men need to step up and be like you. Also, more women need to put self aside and do what's in the best interest of the child and stay out of their personal feelings. Your kids didn't have to miss a beat

@@biancadoss11 Thank you, that is very kind. I think more men need to make their kids first. I bet the majority of us would look at our mom's and say they put us first when we were growing with very few exceptions. But so many dad's just leave and move on as if the kids don't matter. Very sad.

WHAT the hell does that have to do with this case ? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. This case is about a loan. If her daughter couldn't pay the rent. Why would the plaintiff give her daughter's ex-husband money, so he can (turn around) and give it to his ex-wife. Instead of her mother loaning her (OWN) deadbeat daughter the money. This lawsuit is stupid and doesn't make any sense. He's being sued over a loan. Not what you think of him as a father. Damn, stop being so ridiculous and dumb... SMH.

My dad remarried twice and had children in each new marriage. He never stopped being a part of any of our lives. He loved us all dearly and made sure we knew it. I now realize how special that was.

I could only pray for this, I’m so jealous. I just filed for a modification of our parenting plan which he and his mother are trying to deny. He only lets me see our Son 4 days a month, he won’t allow him to be with me overnight and there’s no reasons for it either. He lives with and works for his parents, I have a full time job at the hospital and am happily married. Now I’m trying to find a lawyer.

A few thousand dollars is not thousands of dollars pay for arrearage of child support he will still have to pay on the older children, for that will add up again and when he divorces the latest wife and has to pay child support on the other children. Men, do not make children for you are responsible for them as soon as they are made.

I dated a young man over a decade ago, basically a lost soul who had his parents divorce and both start new lives and new families of which he was not welcome. He became something of a relic of a past failed marriage. He wound up taking care of his grandfather with Alzheimer’s until he passed and then struggled with homelessness off and on in his early 20s. By then we had long since broken up. He was one of the sweetest most brilliantly intelligent humans Ive ever known and drop dead gorgeous as well. We once ran into his mother in a store and they interacted like coworkers off the clock rather than family. I always find it odd when parents just emotionally abandon their first children when they start new lives. It was definitely their loss(and mine now that I think about it)

I would never allow myself to be impregnated by a guy who has basically abandoned his former children for fear that he might do this very same thing to me one day. It is one thing to date an irresponsible individual but it is an entirely different issue to allow yourself to be impregnated by an irresponsible lover/boyfriend. In Canada, the child support owed, whether by father or mother, is deducted straight out of your wages before you even get paid by your employer & so this prevents the children from the former relationship from being "ignored" & also prevents the payee from falling into arrears & thus accruing a $14.000.00 in back child support bill. Do they not have such a policy/program in America?

You did not watch the beginning, this was his former first wife and has children with another wife, and he is one that complains about not being able to see his children, but he has the court order. He is a bum and makes lame excuses not the pay his obligations. And when he gets divorce from the present wife and children, he will owe child support on these children as well.

@@trekgirl65 She definitely watched and clearly understood the family dynamic here. Everything she said made perfect sense in accordance to the case. She was speaking hypothetically as if she were in the position as the new wife to this man, knowing that he's a deadbeat to the children he already has, and that she has wouldn't have children with a man like that. Therefore, she's acknowledging that he's a bum and you are in agreement with her. The only other thing she said, was her asking a question about how child support works in the U.S. because where she's from in Canada, the Government automatically takes the money out of the parent's paycheck, which doesn't allow for these large child support debts to rack up. So maybe you need to reread her comment or hopefully my comment helped to clear that up for you.

Adding to Canada, (live here) they will take your license. I was going to seek my support from ex but it was getting blood from a stone. Was not worth my time. Sad, but my kids will not speak to him, they are not idiots. Cost him a lot more than money

@@michelledelios6403 That's the real tragedy of it all... The children feeling hurt, abandoned and that leading to a lifetime of disappointment and resentment. The breaking of that bond between a parent and their child, is one of the greatest and most impactful losses that one can experience in life. Children NEED love and stability in their life, which requires the parent to not only provide financially but to actually be there for them, be actively present in their lives. And when the kids see a parent not even doing the absolute bare minimum, by just paying child support for them, that resentment will build and destroy whatever relationship you had with them. Kids pick up on EVERYTHING, especially if they're teenagers. So if you're dodging their other parent to avoid paying them and/or treating that parent unfairly or disrespectfully, they will eventually pick sides and guess who side they will take... It's so heartbreaking to see so many broken families and deadbeat parents these days. These children didn't ask to be born or for them to be their parents and yet, so many children are treated as a burden. Children are supposed to be a wonderful blessing and should be cherished and loved but our society is just so warped and broken and unfortunately, it's mostly the children that pay the price. Here in the US, we also have a system in place that will suspend your license if you are behind on child support and not paying. The Government will also take any income tax returns, to try and recover some of the child support debt that you have. But the problem is, they let the debt get wildly out of control before they even implement these consequences and there's always a way around it. Although, the one thing I do not like about suspending people's license over a debt, is that it only really works to inconvenience and hopefully put pressure on the people who can afford to actually pay up. As for the parents who are genuinely struggling to catch up or are behind because they are looking for employment, taking their license will only further hinder their ability to pay and can put them in an even more dire situation. Not to mention, it has absolutely nothing to do with the Family Court system and also feels like a huge overreach for the Government to have that kind of power and control in our lives. So I've always kind of struggled with that one a bit.

Why are so many of you assuming that the deadbeat dad is being honest about the mom making it difficult to see his kids? She said at the end on national television she has an "open door policy" for the father of her children. That sounds a lot more plausible than the man who fell almost 15k behind in child support and tried to weasel his way out of this loan 🙃 My heart does go out to men who deal with vindictive baby mamas! Just sayin this is not one of those cases

The only times I know of personally that a mother ever tried to keep the children from their father was when abuse was involved. Those are rare. Almost all the instances I know of the mother wants the father to be involved with the children.

My deadbeat ex owes me over $40,000 from 10 years ago. I will never see it as child support loopholes in Aust are horrible for the single parent. My ex also moved on with a wife young enough to be his daughter and never saw and made an effort to have his children.

I hope her daughter took the time to increase her Education and Skills to never have to ask to loan anything despite him being late on child support. Once I seen how these Men can be I made sure to live amongst my means and to have an emergency fund!

Do people in these comments really not understand why the mother didn't have rent money? She's been the sole provider for two children for a long time. If he had been paying that $14,000 the whole time, she would have had that much for rent instead of using it to cover expenses for the kids. It's not that 'the father has to pay the mother's rent'. It's that she didn't have enough to cover rent anymore after all that time paying for everything else.

As a Single Dad, I worked so hard to get a good life for my Son I. At 1 point 3 jobs, 1 full time and 2 part time. I coached his hockey team as well as his baseball team, plus I played tennis in the evenings We were busy, but I liked it. We were busy but it was fun!

Jm did to much with the age thing in the beginning, he still got their ages right I feel like she was just trying to make him look bad from the jump, BUT that was a bull shit excuse for him to say the kid’s mother makes it hard for him to see his kids. Put your big boy pants on & go to court to see your kids!! & with the daughter not being able to pay rent on time because she’s solely relying on the child support then she should’ve been found a different place with cheaper rent if he was already that much behind.

My ex-husband did the same thing he left our two kids for someone 12 years younger than him. That didn’t last and now he’s living four states away with another gal and her two kids. I could never imagine waking up to someone else’s children and not my own. Who on earth could live with themselves doing that? But so many do.

He claimed that $2100 loan towards his arrearage. The plaintiff is acting like he’s a victim “it’s been made very difficult to see my children” but he hasn’t taken legal steps to remedy that situation, if it’s even true.

My ex did nothing to raise his kids, but remarried and raised his 4 step kids like they were his own. I hated that for my kids, but I made sure they had everything they needed! And I don’t begrudge his stepkids at all. They are good kids.

I hate it when the father blames the ex for not seeing his kids. Take them to court if ex is stopping you from seeing them, but they don't want to... go to court, or ...pay out the money to go to court. Then don't use the "my ex won't let me see them" line. You don't want to see them!! Or you would be on court fighting for them!! Glad my ex and I get along.

I worked in family law. The court is a neutral party and will help mothers and fathers for FREE. If you want to see your kids, go to the court and quit making excuses including not paying your child support!! Tired of dead beat parents blaming everything under the sun for not seeing their kids when its their own fault. Try harder and do better for those innocent kids! It's not their fault they were brought into this world. 😢

I mean… if they were calling him for money that he owed for child support so that she could pay rent, and he gave that money plus more, then shouldn’t it be the daughter that owes the mom?

He borrowed the money in Jan. Around $20k was owed at that time. Then this was filmed in June. So that payment he made, was around six months after this money was owed. It still left him approximately $10k in arrears. The money was borrowed from the plaintiff… to pay towards the child support.

Oh man... I love this Judge usually but this time she really jumped on this guy. He was calm and humble and it seemed like she was going overboard. He *was* careful not to say anything about the mother when it sounds like he could have. Do better! Not all dads are bad!

AND then counter sues for havin to come to court .. LUDICROUS...!! He says to Doug... "The truth will pervail....." YuP will show wotta AHole he is...!! BtW courts do NOT favour Mothers or are prejudiced against fathers..!! The NON CUSTODIAL parent... Pays Child Support to the CUSTODIAL parent.. Simple as that..!!
