The difference between Bekele and others was that Bekele had one more gear. Once he unleashed it, others had no choice but try to be second best. What an athlete!

Incredible. He gets his shoe pulled off between mile 1 and 2, losing perhaps 20 seconds...and by mile 4, he's worked his way back to the lead pack. Slowly but surely. Confidently. A genius of 21st century distance running. Consistent, efficient, running form...like a mechanical dagger. At 3000 meters or marathon, pure pleasure to watch.

Kenyans are extremely talented, fearsome runners and it takes a hell of a run to beat them. Here comes Kenenisa Bekele who has the power to beat whoever racing him, be it Kenyan, Eritrean or Jamican. He is the embodiment of extreme gift in running which can only come from God.

Bekele. Who occasionally beat him, not on this day, and who he beat how. That is measure of greatness amongst other measures. I am watching and they are at lap five ie ten kilometres run consistently at 3 min and a second or so pace. Bekele is running peacefully however now at 30:25 that extra that he has is being used and he is away. Waters have been muddied over the last few years somewhat by others Championship performances, I am not talking about Eliud as his greatness is not in doubt also. Bekele is the greatest distance runner across three surfaces. Times, championships and who you beat, and the quality of those who beat you. At 33:01 one ie another kilometre gone and he is away staggeringly fast up the steep bit and flying down the other side. There was Beijing and Berlin to come. His mastery in those four future races😮

En el impasse que tuvo Bekele al perder su zapatilla, los delanteros, a esa velocidad, le sacaron por lo menos 300 metros. Luego se recompuso y ganó la prueba. Increíble. Por algo es el mejor corredor de todos los tiempos.

Kinda feel bad for everyone else in the race. You can’t drop him, because he’s flat out faster than everyone else, and nobody can outkick him. You can only wait for a miracle or race for second.

Es gracioso que el comentarista piense que hay un "duelo" entre Tadese y Bekele... La única razón por la que Tadese le ganó a Bekele el año anterior fue porque Bekele abandonó. No hay tal duelo, Tadese aunque buen corredor, no era rival; Bekele solo competía contra sí mismo.
