If you can hold off a little, there may be a price correction coming. Elddis is laying off a lot off staff, a large van retailer has gone bust and sold off a lot of stock. Elddis evolution is the Brownhill special brand.

For the last decade or so you either have a 2 seater with 2 berths or a 4 seater with 4 berths. It used to be the case that manufacturers made 4 berth vans with just 2 belted seats but that silliness has long gone. Be aware that motorhomes are bulky things to go touring with and breaking camp every day, even to go down the road for half a dozen eggs can be a pain. Caravans with a separate car are less money, more accommodation and touring about is easier. Be careful with small panel van conversions as they mostly have no toilet and shower and in bad weather cabin fever is a real risk. Most motorhomes have the 'really boring' continental dinette arrangement and once you've seen one you've seen them all. Be careful with Elddis/Compass products as their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

The belted seat situation has to be thought about carefully as we explained in a recent video about gross vehicle weights. If your campervan or motorhome is pulled over by the ministry of transport and police, put on a Weybridge, they calculate the additional passenger weights due to the number of belted seats. It doesn’t matter if there is just you in the van or you and a partner, if there are four belted seats, they will add 75 kg per belted seat. This can very easily take your vehicle over its gross vehicle weight if you are not careful. we had to up plate our vehicle maximum authorised mass to ensure we stayed legal. Hope this helps?

I think what you may want is a 2 berth 6 or 6.4m camper van with a small bathroom for you and your wife to go touring in. As someone else commented, a motorhome will be a right pain in the a**e to drive or park up at interesting places. The money you save buying a smaller vehicle can be used for the odd occasion you take your grandkids away in your car (with plenty of proper seats with seatbelts) and you can stay in a family room at a premier inn for £40 ppn - just throwing it in there for consideration.

Buy a late model van...Euro6....High mileage no problem (Soon be normal)....Find a good small van converter (or DIY)...Built to your wishes ...Save a fortune.!!!!Good Luck...

Your budget is too small for a Motorhome. You will only get one that will be expensive to keep on the road. You could consider a caravan or working longer to increase your budget.
