THE REVIEW
I watch each episode with my own commentary, often pausing the scenes to get my words out without having to talk over the episode, and also to point out and analyze the show's art and animation. I have seen each episode already growing up, so these reviews are to compare and contrast the five categories listed below.
PLOT (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
The foundation of the episode. Uniqueness and overused tropes are taken into account, but it is also judged on how well it tells the story of the episode. An episode can score a 5 even with a basic/ cliche plotline as long as it has good pacing, worthy use of its tropes, and feels well-polished. An episode can lose points due to plotholes, uneven storytelling, and relying too heavily on cliches to do the work for it.
CHARACTERIZATION (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
How well the characters are written. Do they feel like themselves compared to the grand narrative of the franchise? Are the supporting or one-off characters interesting, or pure plot devices? Did the humor land? Did the actions and character motivations make sense?
VISUALS (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
Basically, everything that happens on-screen. Character Design. Animation. Backgrounds. Creative mechanics and solutions. If there is CGI or digital effects added, how well do they blend into the show, and were they used as an enhancement, or a crutch?
IMPORTANCE (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
This includes, but is not strictly based on, how important the episodes are to the current story arc (if there is one) or the general narrative of the Ben 10 Franchise. Points can also be awarded for how impactful the episode was, or how favored/ important it is to the general Ben 10 fanbase. I ask myself, "If I skipped this, would I be missing out on the 'Ben 10 Experience?' "
ENTERTAINMENT (Scaled from 1 to 5)
Pretty much the most important part of developing a tv show. You can be perfect in all four of the previous categories, but the episode can still be boring. On the flip side, the episode can be absolute garbage, but still an enjoyable watch. How likely would you be to put this episode on if you were in the mood to watch Ben 10?

This episode felt like an actual Ultraman episode. One from the very first season. It even has the classic formula: show a glimpse of the problem, spend the second half explaining and understanding it, and then Ultraman shows up.

To me "More things change part 2" holds place for similar reason except that instead of my country,my parents removed "Cartoon Network" channel .Thus this was the last aired ben 10 episode I watched in my childhood.

Don't worry tho, guys. CN came back after Omniverse S2. And I did catch up. Well, all of Omniverse, but not a lot of Ultimate Alien at the time. And I'm from Romania. I'm not sure how cable works and if there's multiple cable companies, but yeah, CN was removed for quite some time.

I personally found the ending of the episode to be a haunting reminder that pollution will never truly be solved until everyone makes a collective effort. On another note, is Colonel Rozum's sister dead? He brings up the fact that she went missing investigating the garbage patch, but we never see her there and she isn't brought up again.

Yeah, i sort of like how that in the end the episode reinforces that we aren't going to have a magical solution like an alien throwing all the trash into the space and at the end of the day it is systemic issue.

Pollution and the issues facing this planet and our civilization on it cannot be properly addressed without acknowledging that the majority of the problem stems from corporations. When we refused to hold corporations and billionaires accountable we neglect the root the issue since they are the ones in power and the ones that the systems we live in are built by and based around.

One thing I do like about this episode is how it sells the absolute size of the island. We all know how ridiculously big Way Big is and at times the island is notably bigger than him.

I think they used an orchestral version of the actual Captain Planet theme in the big battle scene. I was watching Captain Planet at the same time when I saw this for the first time and recognized the music in a heartbeat.

This whole episode was just to reference X Files and Captain Planet. I imagine it went like this in the writers room: “How about we do an episode based off the X Files? It would tie in pretty well with all the aliens.” “What about a Captain Planet episode? It could be a nice throwback for our older fans. And it might get people more conscientious about the environment.” “Well we can only to one or the other. We only get a few of these one offs.” “Why not both?” “Genius!”

How I see the ending is that nothing is solved, which is kinda fitting, as pollution and climate change cannot be prevented, but can only be kept in control. That's kinda my interpretation.

it being a glitch is imo not true, DJW had said some questionable things so I take his words as a joke Way Big's super speed is justifiable too, everytime he was used before, he didn't had enough space to run or the enemy was too short for Way Big to actually care about using his speed, plus he was fighting a non living being here and he killed it with his speed by throwing it into space and since Ben doesn't go for the kill, he doesn't use Way Big's speed in battles as he is fighting living beings mostly as Way Big

Fun fact: Greg Cipes, who voices Kevin E. Levin as well as Beast Boy from Teen Titans and Iron Fist from Ultimate Spiderman, is also a musician and you can hear Kevin trying to hum the Captain Planet theme outloud. As Beast Boy, he sang the song " Fade Away" in TTG which he loves the song which has a meaning which has a meaning, to love our Earth. 🌍💚

I forgot about this episode for years until my brain made me thing about a scene where Waybig threw something into space. Which is a common theme with that alien, but it was the ridiculous way he did it. XLR8/The Flash-ing it. Blew my mind when I found out that I didn't make up that scene in my head.

This is also the episode where Way Big demonstrates some pretty insane super speed. He didn't just run fast enough to make a water cyclone, he generated enough centrifugal force to launch the garbage monster out of orbit and all the way to the sun. That's pretty ridiculous.

I was curious to hear your thoughts about Way Big having super speed here. I personally think it's cool, something you wouldn't expect on an alien of his size, and I like how it seems to not be instant, but he has to build up speed first.

I dont mind the super speed at all, everytime Way Big was used before, he either didn't had enough space to run or the enemy was too small for him to actually care about using his speed, plus Garbage Monster was not a living being and Ben doesn't go for the kill, so he used the super speed to throw a non living creature into space to kill it

I rewatched the episode for Way Big and honestly I think this episode is like Prisoner 775 is missing, but just not executed as well. It's made to address a real world issue and raise awareness.

"The enviromental episode", nothing else about it really stands out. This series always manahgs to give it's own Ben 10 spin when tackling real life topics, Prisoner 775 and The Purge being some of the best episodes in the show. Compared to those two, this one feels kinda heavy handed and doesn't really capture that Ben 10 feel, if that makes sense I dunno, maybe they could've done something more original with the concept? Like a species of garbage aliens trying to rebuild their planet using humanity's trash?
