Rivers, Eli, and Big Ben are all hall of farmers tho
@7Roeth
@7Roeth 2 жыл бұрын
I'll place one argument against it, I'm not saying Eli was better, obviously, I'm a huge Ben fan. Eli took down Brady twice in the post season. We never even got to imagine Ben doing it once, in fact every time Ben got to the Patriots in the playoffs, the Steelers were laughed right out of them in embarrassing fashion. Those are just facts.
@NM-qo6cd
@NM-qo6cd 2 жыл бұрын
@@7Roeth outside of those two playoff runs, would you concede literally the rest of Eli’s career was objectively below average and not even hall of fame worthy?
@MightyMattTM
@MightyMattTM 2 жыл бұрын
@@7Roeth True. But Ben never had a losing season, the Steelers were a perennial playoff team for like 10 years in a row, Ben owns multiple passing records that Eli can only dream about, AND on top of all of that, He made it to 3 SBs, winning 2. Eli had 2 above average years where, yes he indeed beat Tom Brady in the SB. Nick Foles also beat TB12 in the SB, so I don't give that much credence. Eli otherwise had below average years with multiple losing seasons. Something Ben can't relate to.

Of everything that Ben has accomplished, it's rarely acknowledged that, after Tommy Maddox got hurt, he helped the Steelers rattle off 15 straight wins and didn't lose until the AFC Championship...in his rookie year.

I've never been able to understand the people who hand wave it away by saying Ben had a great defense and running game that carried him. How many veteran QBs have we seen who had a great defense and great running game but couldn't come close to that winning streak? I think the real reason Ben doesn't get the credit for what he did in 2004 was that he didn't put up video game numbers that season. Too many people don't know anything but the stat sheets (I blame fantasy football).

So surreal seeing this footage when Ben was just a baby in the league. As a Steeler fan since Bradshaw's last two seasons Ben was a godsend. So many good Steelers teams without a good QB. Sure we had Neil and he got us there once but Ben's arrival changed everything. What could he have accomplished if that dude Brady had not happened along. Hope Ben and the team finish strong and see him out with at least a playoff appearance.

@@cityofchamps66 okay, Ben top 7 In TDs, Yards, and Completions. He has 2 Super bowls. A Rookie of the year award. Only Rookie a QB to start 13-0 his first season. He has the most wins in his first 5 seasons in NFL HISTORY. He is the fastest QB to get to 50,000 passing yards in NFL HISTORY. Never had a lossing season in 17 years (soon to be 18 years). He's 3rd all time in playoff wins. Only QB to throw 500+ yards 4 times (second most has only 2). Only QB to throw 6TDs in back to back games in NFL HISTORY. Needs just a little more then 3,000 yards to be #5 in passing yards all time. And 27 TDs to be #5 all time. He's thrown the most Completions in a NFL GAME IN NFL HISTORY with 47! Second most yards in a playoff game all time (Ben 501- Brady 503). Ben's last 2 playoff games he combined for 84 Completions, 970 yards 9 TDs which is all a NFL Record in a two game span in NFL playoff history. He was the first QB to play in 2 AFC Championships in his first 2 seasons. He's the youngest QB to win a Super bowl and second youngest (Brady was the Youngest) to win his second Super bowl. Ben is the second QB to have 3 perfect passer rating games (158.3) in a Career. And only QB to have 2 perfect passer ratings in the same season. Ben is the ONLY QB in NFL HISTORY to have (8) 150+ Passer ratings. Ben is the Only QB to have 20 comeback wins before the age of 30. He also holds the record with 19 comeback wins and 25 game winning drives through the first 7 season of a players career. Ben is one of only a few QBs to ever threw 5 TDs in the first Half of a game. He owns Every steeler record. And Every record for his college team (Miam of Ohio). Ben holds the record for a rookie QB win streak with 27 straight wins, 13 straight wins in College then 14 straight wins in the NFL including Playoffs. And there is so much more. But I don't won't this comment to turn into a book or anything. So after all that how the heck can Ben not be top 10, top 7, or even top 5?

I remember not just this game but the Hurricane that moved it to Monday. It was hard to find a place to watch it that had power as half the city didn’t. Little did we know how great a QB we were about to see

This technically was his first start but the first NFL game he played in was against the Ravens when Tommy Maddox got hurt. I believe he came in and threw 2 Tds and looked pretty good against a strong Ravens defense. That was the only loss the Steelers had that year.

I forgot how dominant that Steelers D was. Hell they had a great o line and great receivers too. No wonder they went 15-1 that season and won the Superbowl the next year.

Born in the 80s, but raised in the 90s and we didn't have a good QB throughout the 90s and early 2k. Besides the one SB appearance, it felt like we could never get over the AFC championships hump until Ben got here. We had horrible QBs for so many years that's why we were know for the run game lol.

My older sister worked as an assistant director at a Fox affiliate in DC 25 years ago. Gus Johnson was starting out as the weekend sports anchor. Gus is one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet. Though, when I think of Gus Johnson, I first think of him calling college basketball. "Rise and fire!"

I bought my Italian-American, former drill sergeant and butcher grandfather a Deuce Staley jersey for Christmas that offseason. Years later he wondered out loud at a family function who had bought him "that bum's" jersey. I kept my shame quiet. He never did remember.

First career start in a wet and soggy Miami. He didn't have to do much because the Steelers defense just pummeled A.J. Feely.

What impressed me was the Steeler D in that game. Especially the linebackers. These were men. They were tough and didn't mind showing you. They didn't permit and opposing offense to function! Today's guys don't compare. And the other thing: the Steelers O-line could both protect the passer and pull for blocking plays with speed and effectiveness. They were hard working athletes! Today's guys also can't compare.....their run blocking is pathetic by comparison as the overriding directive has been "protect the passer". Yeah but when the running game's not an imminent threat this gets harder and harder.
