Ben Shapiro discusses the Senate moving to introduce a bill to Federally codify Same Sex Marriage during the lame duck Congressional session. Shapiro says that this bill is pointless because of the precedent set by Obergefell v. Hodges at the Supreme Court, and that any Republican Senator who supports this legislation "...should not be in the Republican party."

Then I am genuinely curious, Ben: would a heterosexual couple that chose to be childless be more of a proper marriage than a gay couple who chose to either adopt, use sperm donors or surrogacy? Likewise, if one of these male/female couples happens to be infertile or sterile does that mean that their marriage should then be invalidated? If a couple is past 'childbearing age' when they were married, same question 🤔? Cause clearly they aren't going to produce a child for his delicate narrow minded morals that somehow think that same sex couples are less worthy. Some of the most well adjusted people I know had 2 dads or 2 moms. One would think that anyone who gives love, support, and safe home to a child should be the only requirements in being a parent.

It's funny because I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with my boyfriend. I am disabled. It literally is not beneficial for me or our baby to get married because of health insurance.... if we get married we have to rely on insurance from his work, which is inferior to my insurance from the state. Ben is such a theocratic fascist. He just wants to force everyone to act like he thinks is correct. There is nothing democratic about it.

It is a similar thing in the UK, not healthcare but disabled people often lose state benefits if they marry an able bodied person as it is deemed that the able bodied spouse should help provide for your care, not the state. So lots of couples don’t get marry to avoid loosing their benefits, a pittance that they are 😢

If you receive a specific governmental unemployment benefit (called Hartz-4) and you have a child still living with you (because they are 16 snd still go to school). If this child gets a summer job to save some money for a bike or whatever, the parents of this child get their benefits cut by the amount the child is earning. Absolutely barbaric and stupid.

@@cygnals524 Yup, and because he makes himself look more intelligent by comparison he gets some people to accept his own world views, because people like to be "correct" and will generally side with those who seem intelligent, but it's all carefully cultivated for the purposes of propaganda. There has been a popular saying for a long time now with those on the right "You'll grow more conservative as you grow older" but that's never been the case, rather conservatives grow more progressive as things progress and we drag them kicking and screaming forward, rather than letting them drag us backwards. The saying should be "You'll grow more progressive as you get older" because in time people generally become more accepting, I don't know a single person who grows more hateful as they grow older.

What if they become older and simply don't have the ability after biological events like menopause? It still hurts tremendously that conservatives spend so much of their time and energy trying to dismantle my marriage. They have been using the pedophilia & incest arguments to drum up fear about two adults being in love with one another for the entire span of my life (and then some), and they just can't leave well enough alone. Because of clowns like him, I had someone genuinely ask me just 2 weeks ago if I married my husband for love or if I just got married for the taxes & insurance. They couldn't fathom that two men would be in love, so they assumed it was just greedy ambition to save a few bucks. I hope millions of people treat ben the way christians treat queer people.

This is the same argument they had against anti lynching laws. Their entire theory is predicated on the idea that they are not savages and that they have a mandate from heaven to police the savages that they can't prove in any tangible way that they are superior to, so it's basically "I'm better then you because the law says so. I don't agree or disagree with it but it's the law." They really hate to take responsibility for anything..they need to hide their views behind something else.
