elitefts love the videos, especially the Ed Coan. Just a thought for some content. The difference between raw and geared, cues and form. Bench and squat for sure would probably be eye opening for some. I’ve seen some of the geared sit back , back, back cues coached to raw lifters. I think showing that different muscles and form should possibly be used based on the style would be helpful. Just my two cents. Thanks for all you do, I love my New Yoke Bar!

I was taught to lower the bar w/ your lats and press with your chest. You also mentioned the bar path was to go straight up and down? I agree with this. I believe that the "up & back towards the rack" is bunk and detrimental to the shoulders.

I never cared much for the pull the bar into you with your lats while raising your chest cue because 95% plus of the people watching this video don't have and never will have the muscle maturity and be in connection enough with themselves to ever apply that with maximal weights. Sure you put 135 on the bar you can appear to look like you're applying it correctly but in actuality you're probably not and you slide a few more plates on the bar and it's not happening.
@ClusterBombed01

If you're not pulling the bar into you whilst maintaining thoracic tightness, then benching beyond 135lbs safely is beyond you. Every single client I have learns to bench with tightness in the upper back, pulling the bar to a rising chest is essential for that to happen. It may require a different queue, like pull your shoulder blades together and down or stay up on your traps but essentially a rising chest is a key indicator that tightness is being achieved. I think the point your making is that an inexperienced lifter shouldn't be attempting lifts beyond their own technical ability, the only way to reach the required scapular mobility is to train correctly and address the real issues stopping them from safely pulling the bar to a rising chest due to correct retraction and depression of the shoulder blades.In time they will increase their bench with the correct technique needed to do this safely. No tightness in the back leads to bicep tendon injuries, which believe me will inhibit benching for a long time :(
@paintrain81

TheSagemeister what this fella is talking about doing and keeping your shoulder blades together are two different techniques all together and performing one doesn't mean the other is happening and vice verse as well as the chest rising. I'm not trying to argue especially on the internet where things are misinterpreted but I will say just for the sake of putting some validity behind myself, I'm old now but there was a day when I competed at the top end of the 275 class for years when geared lifting was in at the national level and shirt or no shirt I still had a 500 plus raw bench and trained with the best of the best at that time so I'm just giving my opinion after years of seeing it and hearing it all.
