If you are above State Pension age and are a carer, there are a a number of benefits that you might be able to claim to help you.
This is great because most carer’s find that it is easier to continue their caring role if they get some support. There are some key benefits that you may be entitled to as a carer above the State Pension age but knowing which benefits you qualify for can be difficult.
In my video I mentioned some of the benefits that the person you care for must already receive in order to qualify for the Council Tax Reduction. Below is the full list:
· Personal Independence Payment - the daily living component
· Disability Living Allowance - the middle or highest care rate
· Attendance Allowance
· Constant Attendance Allowance at or above the normal maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
· Constant Attendance Allowance at the basic (full day) rate with a War Disablement Pension
· Armed Forces Independence Payment
· Child Disability Payment - the middle or highest care rate
There are so many great resources around with information about each benefit that you might be entitled to. So below, I have listed a few of these resources
